I am very new to vintage, but I work at a card shop that runs type one tourneys every Saturday night and I am really interested in playing this format.
From what I see the format is as follows
U/W bomberman
Grim long
UBW fish
Stax
GAT
and some kind of tendrils/Empty the warrens combo.
Here is my decklist. It doesnt seem as strong as I would like...and I misplay it alot I am sure, but any help would be greatly appreciated. There are a few cards that may seem strange and I will try to explain my choices.
first the mana.
Crystal Vein instead of ancient tomb because the life loss seems too much when most of the time I dont need the 2 mana. When I do need the 2 I can get it and it doesnt usually set me back that much.
I also chose ghost quarter over wasteland. Ghost quarter most of the time is the same thing as a strip mine after the first use, and I can use them to get R mana in a pinch by using it on wasteland targeted workshops.
I love slaver. It is the most fun magic card ever printed and it fits right in with the welders. It may not be optimal...but its fun.
grim monolith is there because I dont like mana crypt. It hurts. again this may not be optimal.
Right now there is no board. I really need help with that more than anything as well as how to board for each matchup.
From TMD
Round One: Bill Copes playing Stax
Bill seems like a nice guy till I see that he's playing Stax and realize (by way of a concrete Magic formula I learned from my 4th grade math teacher) he has no soul.
Magma Mine is definately win more for the combo when you can simply gain infinite life, play all your spheres and wires and beat down next turn. Or, if you already have an active welder, keep using Trike to ping them and weld is back into play by untapping Welder as many times as you want with Staff.
yeah I was playing this last night a little and figured that out. I changed the list to add another trisk.
Any advise on the board, or other changes that may be needed?
