Obviously, there's been a lot of new cards to add in this over the past 5 years, and the deck has lost brainstorm. That said, the article is still true that this deck isn't actually Vintage playable for the sole fact that it's too complicated to play in an actual tournament. When you compress every decision in the game into a single turn, it just doesn't work. That said, when I'm bored, I love being able to goldfish with my old version of tendrils.
So that's what I'm going for here: the most consistent turn one kill deck possible in type 1 right now.
I enjoyed Mean Deck Gifts. The deck was fun to pilot and go off with. Both the man Drain gifts build and the Four Ritual Gifts build. Four Ritual Gifts was more explosive, but less durable.
That deck had 3 Merchant Scroll, 4 Gifts, and 4 Brain Storm... all of which are restricted now.

"Whatever style you wish to play, be it fast and frenzied or slow and tactical, the surest way to defeat your opponent consistently is by dominating him or her in the war of card advantage." - Brian Wiseman, April 1996
Asking people to remove quotes in their signatures is tyranny! If I can't say something just because someone's feelings are hurt then no one would ever be able to say anything! Political correctness is stupid.

Can someone explain this? They seem pretty functionally exact other than the fact that the star cantrips without activating the ability. And, I guess, that the sphere's draw can't be stifled or similar.

It's kind of another moment when we throw our hands up and go "DAMMIT universe, why you gotta always make me look bad in front of everyone?".

Also important is that with Chromatic Sphere, the card draw is part of a mana ability, so 1)there's no opportunity for your opponent to respond to the draw, and 2) you can draw the card during the process of paying for another spell or ability.

I'm currently working off of this:
1x Black Lotus
4x Chromatic Sphere
1x Chrome Mox
2x Darkwater Egg
1x Lion's Eye Diamond
1x Lotus Petal
1x Mana Crypt
1x Mana Vault
1x Mox Emerald
1x Mox Jet
1x Mox Opal
1x Mox Pearl
1x Mox Ruby
1x Mox Sapphire
1x Sol Ring
1x Bayou
1x Tropical Island
Instant (20)
1x Ancestral Recall
1x Brainstorm
4x Cabal Ritual
4x Dark Ritual
1x Demonic Consultation
4x Repeal
4x Spoils of the Vault
1x Vampiric Tutor
2x Manamorphose
Sorcery (16)
1x Demonic Tutor
4x Gitaxian Probe
1x Imperial Seal
3x Land Grant
1x Ponder
4x Tendrils of Agony
1x Yawgmoth's Will
1x City of Traitors
2x Underground Sea
2x Manamorphose
3x See Beyond
4x Preordain
4x Noxious Revival
3x Night's Whisper
Please read http://www.starcitygames.com/magic/vintage/12009_The_Fastest_Deck_Ever_By_Far_Meandeck_Tendrils_Revisited.html before posting, as card choices are unusual for this deck type.
That deck had 3 Merchant Scroll, 4 Gifts, and 4 Brain Storm... all of which are restricted now.
Yawgmoth's Will
So with that in mind I'm just going to assume you are actually playing all 4 darkwater eggs, and your numbers only add up to 59, so this:
+2 Darkwater Egg
-2 Manamorphose
+3 Noxious Revival
Revival is just cheating in this deck.
There's absolutely no reason this deck shouldn't have 4 Manamorphose.
Here's my list:
4x Tendrils of Agony
Tutor/Draw (13)
4x Spoils of the Vault
2x Noxious Revival
1x Demonic Consultation
1x Yawgmoth's Will
1x Demonic Tutor
1x Vampiric Tutor
1x Ponder
1x Brainstorm
1x Ancestral Recall
4x Manamorphose
4x Repeal
4x Gitaxian Probe
4x Chromatic Sphere
2x Street Wraith
Ramp (8)
4x Dark Ritual
4x Cabal Ritual
Land (6)
4x Land Grant
1x Bayou
1x Tropical Island
1x Mana Vault
1x Mana Crypt
1x Sol Ring
1x Lotus Petal
1x Mox Pearl
1x Mox Sapphire
1x Mox Emerald
1x Mox Jet
1x Mox Ruby
1x Black Lotus
1x Lion's Eye Diamond
That's the best deck for goldfishing imo. For competitive play I'd swap out the Street Wraith's and 2 other cards for 4 Pact of Negations.

Yawgmoth's Will makes your cards not hit the graveyard, meaning after playing it, you'll draw with Chromatic Sphere, but not Chromatic Star. Also worth mentioning is that the same thing happens if your opponent controls Leyline of the Void.
That's true. I wasn't thinking about it like that.
Also important is that with Chromatic Sphere, the card draw is part of a mana ability, so 1)there's no opportunity for your opponent to respond to the draw, and 2) you can draw the card during the process of paying for another spell or ability.
