This is a current Vintage Tier deck that has won it's share of first place tourneys of late.
This archtype is solid with tons of outs for a win, and to be honest is my TOP GUN right now for events.
This deck is more stable then TPS, GRIMLONG, and yes drain tendrils......I hate confessing that part.........
I will stay current with all link deck posts that back this archtype, and I also encourage members to really take a strong look at this deck.
If you're a storm play then get ready for one hell of a forecast in todays meta!!!
Original maindeck had these, but the changes were for a clear and obvoius reason to retain another outlet for a victory. I forgot to add that I've tested the addition of Time Vault/Key in this archtype......I hate it. To me losing the H.Recalls and second Top was just a poor idea to include a combo the deck just doesn't need inorder to win.
For those that must play the infiLOOP combo in all their decks then feel free to make the cuts. It won't hinder you probably at all, but I'm just a player that sees a victory is just a top draw away in this deck........so why tamper with goods that're solid?
I hate you! Right in the middle of me going off, hurkyl's recalling all my artifacts in response to my Wheel of Fortune sucked! ALOT! Good games though even if I did go 1-4 with SCV. Next time you won't be so lucky!
First off I must apologize for getting worked up a little at the end. I know how good SteelCityVault is fellow pro, and the curve for error a opp has must be keep to slim to none. You're fast becoming the best pilot of this archtype I've seen or played against.........and I don't give compliments out that often. Lastnite was epic as for as I'm concerned and I have been to, and won my share of events.
The rest of the story;
Members this deck I'm running is flat out the best deck I've played in the last 3 years. Nomatter the opinions of what a guy/girl can state with regards to siding against me when I play this deck.....I feel absolute power the whole time.
MasterWithChildren you're also becoming one of greatest foes, and I will promise that luck will not play a part in my next meeting with you. I say this because you know better then to think it's luck my friend............ you have my respect as I know I have yours............. it's not luck,... we're just that good.

Mind sharing what those events you have won are? I have not read any reports from Iowa (of course, I have no idea what states are near Iowa). Just curious
On Topic:
Why are you not playing 4 bobs? He's way too good not to play 4 of.
Can you do anything about the 61 cards maindeck? That seems wrong when there are certain bombs that you want, so it makes sense to increase every chance of seeing them in a game.
If I had to drop that list from 61 to 60: As good of a card as it is, I would drop the Library of Alexandria since you are already playing so much unconditional card-draw (Bobs, Yawgmoth's Bargain, Necropotence, etc), and Library has a clear condition that will not always be met.
I am not sold on the fourth Bob. I have made the mistake too often of playing a second one only to pull two FoWs or some such and torpedo myself. With 3, plus a good number of tutors and lookaheads, the chances are still very high that you'll be able to get one out within a couple of turns, but mid-to-late game you'll have an additional card in your deck that is far more useful.
C.Pride come to iowa it's nice here {from spencer to fort dodge, to mason city, down to ames.....if you don't know me, well I'm sorry....maybe one day we might meet and you will;)}, then I can go over my records with you. Second the deck sits at 61 cards and this how it is for now. I haven't had a problem yet with the odd number and will continue to rock the 61 until the wheels fall off.
Again with the idea of cutting the library {is 61 one that bad? most of the deck found on reports run 61 and LoA is TEMPO} I just don't know what to say anymore {I've tried so hard to encourage and shed light on the topic} so I won't say nothing.
To the member that's not sold on the forth bob your gut feeling is keen. The deck doesn't need them to win {just ask MasterwithKids, he can share how a few games I broke the COMBO between turns 1-2 without Bob, and did it with ease} and topping some of that fat can hurt you. Going against faster decks they're the first thing to go when siding, and 3 has been tested and works like a charm {see first place winning postSSSSS}.
More notes;
I did test the Vault/Key but to be frank I still feel it's not needed, so if something works fine and it's not broke.......why fix it is how I'm playing this card.
S.M.
EDIT;
what are opinions on the topic of finding a way to get Tarmogoyf's {Hell 2-4 copies} in Sideboard for games 2-3 VS Drain/Control style type decks?
If you want a sideboard creature for vs control, you can just use Negators instead of messing with the manabase for Goyfs. They're 5/5 immediately and castable off a ritual. That's what some TPS decks do.
I'm testing this list -2 Repeal, +1 Inkwell and I'm liking it so far. I'd like to find spots for Lotus Petal and Imperial Seal also though.
I think the Repeals are too good to drop with mini combos with duress and storm fual. I wouldn't cut those bud. The Inkwell I tried maindeck, but with the 2 Tendrils found it's just a waste of space. That guy comes in against Fish type builds.
The seal was too slow, and if you notice the tutors or power cards in the deck have on spot win type effects with no true waiting.....end of turn tutors I can see, but the deck is maxed at the moment :cool:.
Now the Negators I can see, so I'll give those a whirl as I've done before but I know the Fire//Ice's running around can be brutel if it's just for a sole copy.
Tombstalker might fit the bill after some thought, but if I can sqeeze in Goyfs I might be able to justify the Green for Regrowth maindeck.
What's up SM? It's worked in testing so far, but I haven't brought it to any tournaments or anything (I'm gonna stay with TPS and Dredge for those). I didn't want 5 bounce spells and it's easier to up storm count and deal with Tinker-targets/stax/Oath creatures with the others. I considered cutting a top but there aren't a lot of tutors here and I like to see them with Bob. Also turn 1 or 2 Tinker > Leviathan is too good for me to pass up in almost any deck with 12 artifacts. Anyway, I suggest that everyone test the original build before making any changes.
The repeals serve as more then just a bounce bud. They're another way to draw a card, and with the rebuild allows kinda of a draw engine. Remember this deck moves at a fast pace and many of the cards spell game apon resolving. I can hear your opinion on keeping Inky in the Maindeck. I just have been playing this deck non-stop of late so I'm seeing things in a new light with regards to what I need to do 3-4 turns in advance to get my wins {they never get that far though}. Inky is nice, so if you're comfortable with him main then you're only killing one slot and thats not bad.
Please don't drop the TOP'S!........that's my plea so you can have the best results from this archtype. They come in real handy, and I don't care if some member thinks they're too slow or trys to provide excuses for why they think so. The top is just amazing in response to this vamp I'm playin........I win.
But I must ask good member are you having a blast with this deck yet?
S.M.
You can't really take the tops because of Bob. 3x Bob is fine although he doesn't usually sit for very long against most of the decks we test with. This is a Storm build and the Tinker target of choice is Jar because Inky doesn't last long with all the bounce around not to mention it's not in his favor to let me get a turn when ALOT of the time I can and will go INFINITY.
I've play 61 cards all the time and most of the time it's and extra land usually a fetch. About the Library... Ask Colin Wu how well it worked out for Itou Hiromichi in the Finals match of the Vintage Championships game 3. It won him the Championship! Granted Itou wasn't playing storm but ANYTIME you can open with a Library is .
Inky doesn't last long with all the bounce around not to mention it's not in his favor to let me get a turn when ALOT of the time I can and will go INFINITY.
That about covered the topic in a nut shell, and it does appear that more and more decks are leaving less time to do anything these days. It's either go off or watch your opp go off 1-2 turn. Sometimes I just sit back and take notes on the goldfishing I see.
So glad that tide has turned of late.
Break down by request.
Here's my thoughts on each card.
Land;
1x Library of Alexandria {The best land on card stock in my opinion ever made...I'm done}
4x Polluted Delta {The decks main color is B, so here's your fetch of choice}
1x Flooded Strand {This one gives you a total of 5, and can be replaced by any U fetch}
2x Swamp {This allows you to endure the brutal pain of wastelands}
2x Island {Dito}
1x Tolarian Academy {This card allows some of the most devestating resolves of all-time}
3x Underground Sea {Your land of choice to get the ball started}
Artifact;
1x Black Lotus {Given}
1x Mox Sapphire {Given}
1x Mox Jet {Given}
1x Mox Ruby {Given}
1x Mox Emerald {Given}
1x Mox Pearl {Given}
1x Sol Ring {Given}
1x Mana Crypt {Given}
1x Mana Vault {Given}
1x Memory Jar {I remember hearing Erick R {TeamICBM} once say "This is the most broken card"}
2x Sensei's Divining Top {A trick on wheels. Right when you think using this card with Bob wasn't right, you start spinning this baby into cards you need for that turn to win. This card is a must if you want to gain the best results out of your TOP`STACK tutors, instant forces, and ofcourse abuse with all those fetchlands.}
Black;
3x Dark Confidant {You know him, you love him, It's Bobert folks}
4x Dark Ritual {"If there is such a thing as too much power, I have not discovered it." -Volrath}
1x Vampiric Tutor {This is one of the best tutors period, and plays well with the Top online, or just setting up the win for the following turn}
4x Duress {The best disruption spell, and a perfect kick to the face to ensure combo protection}
1x Demonic Tutor {Gets you what you want, when you need it}
1x Yawgmoth's Will {YaWgaWin}
2x Tendrils of Agony {This storm spell is your win condition, and having 2 gives you a more consistant outcome}
1x Necropotence {Let me have the dark summer of magic again}
1x Yawgmoth's Bargin {If this hits play then you might just have won on the spot}
Blue
1x Ancestral Recall {Targeting who?}
1x Brainstorm {Ice Age made this a common...}
4x Force of Will {Alliances made this a uncommon...}
1x Mystical Tutor {Blues best tutor in my opinion, and the start to bad things to come once it resolves}
1x Hurkyl's Recall {Complete hoser for at least one turn {Staxxx}, and another way to lift Inky, and can add more fual to storm}
1x Chain of Vapor {When you have 3 artifacts, 2 lands and a Mind's Desire in hand things get pretty interesting}
1x Rebuild {Dito on the Hurkyl's Recall and it CYCLES}
2x Repeal {This card can be of use either bouncing something or for added fual to a storm count...Cantrip?}
1x Merchant Scroll {Hey Homelands did print a card worth more then toilet paper}
1x Mind's Desire {I've won games with just one sole copy on the stack, so imagine having 13 copies instead on the stack...}
1x Tinker {I guess I'm going for the Memory Jar}
1x Time Walk {Right...}
1x TimeTwister {I don't think enough players search for this card out of fear, but I'll share a secret with you. I go for this GEM as fast as I can, cross my fingers, and win my games}
Side Board META
1x Darkblast {To kill welders, Bobs, and about anything else that matters}
1x Massacre {Very handy against Mages or other decks that pack white creatures}
2x Hurkyl's Recall {Added Protection against Stax, Null rods ect}
1x Inkwell Leviathan {The other white meat}
1x Mindbreak Trap {An extra force of Will...Opps}
2x Mystic Remora {Comes in against any deck that's going to rifle on you}
2x Tormod's Crypt {A fast free way to handle the yard, and it adds to storm}
2x Pithing Needle {Time Vault, Wastelands, Bazaars ect}
2x Extripate {They can only Force, Ritual, Drain you once ect}
2x Yixlid Jailer {Do you want to cut both legs off a Ichorid players game plan? here's your anwser}
The deck is 61 one cards of perfection, and no deck is absolute in the format. Like I stated though I feel as if everytime I shuffle up I can't lose. This doesn't mean I don't lose, but I can say with confidence that I don't lose often when playing this archtype. The learning curve is kinda rough, but after a fair amount of testing this deck can be a workhorse at your next vintage tounery.
I love BuG, ControlSlaverClassic, Tezz, SteelCityVault......but nothing compares to this deck in my opinion. As it might not be for all, if you enjoy storm and gold fishing then this deck could be for you.
I'm out,
S.M.
I think we can be greedy here to find space for 1 Regrowth, possibly cutting 1 Swamp for a Bayou. That way postboard Goyfs come in against Drains/no-waste.decs and eats them alive. I think I prefer an Imperial Seal over the 2nd Repeal in this deck.

I like designing decks and I am primarily a control player. Using Drain to fight Workshops is like using Exclude to fight Dark Confidant.
Here are some that have placed/won in some very competitive events (1 or 2 carsd may have changed over time, I just found the first ones I could). I put them in spoiler tags because the lists take up a lot of room. These lists should be pretty polished, both pilots have a lot of experience with the decks.
Hey S.M. ; I was thinking of running this for my next chance at any tournament that I get the chance to. I was just wondering why you don't run Cabal Ritual. I can see it is not the classic TPS build but it just seems like it could be one of those "couldn't hurt" cards. My board will definitely have a lot of changes because anyone that plays type one in my shop will generally play Stax, TPS, Oath, Sui Black, and Tezz/Key/Vault. This definitely looks like a competitive and affordable deck for someone getting into T1. Granted learning it is another thing I can deal with that.

Old School Like the Old school
:evillol:Thanks to .toRRent for the awesome Avi and Piet for the Banner:evillol:
Well the deck has been proven {in tourneys} to not need the cabal ritual. It comes down to what you would cut to fit it in, and in my opinion that would be a very hard choice for any competitive player to make.
Now the deck as a whole has a very steep learning curve leaving no room for error {this is coming from a member that has now many hours of testing in}, but with that the win ratio is brutal.
To the comment of this being a budget {affordable} deck I wouldn't look at this deck in that light. This archtype can hang with the most powerful decks in the format {but the're cheaper decks}. I tend to view this deck as a more consistant version of TPS {which is by far not budget}. The deck has a tempo engine via bob, and the top draw with all the bombs can leave an opp helpless {notice the fat large end spells like Fact or Fiction, Gifts Ungiven are not present}.
I wish you luck if you make the choice of building this deck, and if you put in the time and effort to learn it I can almost assure you'll enjoy the outcome.
S.M.
Bob'Storm strikes again and futher backs my precomments with regards to Sadistic Sacrament {ant storm, tps, all storm builds can support it if chosen} as a game winning threat....so you can sure bet I'll be the first to post....I told ya so, {this goes out to a few members that know who they're} but I don't think it'll change their outlooks ofcourse until I have proven yet again myself with another fact post.
This deck as been group tested, and the results are stellar, with that thread link you can assure the build is not just a surpirse one....but a solid one that will content with todays meta.
I'm shifting my deck to this mold, and encourage all that play this deck to take a long look, give it a whirl, and attempt to see the power of it. Until my next update!
S.M.
I'm not sure who you were referring to in your post SM. My comment regarding Sacrament was that it was terrible as a 4-of maindeck (replacing copies of Tendrils) in Ad Nauseam Tendrils.
Here's the deck list for the public view, and the Time/Key combo is just fast becoming a staple....for all NON-FISH vintage decks.
In my testing I found that 4x Duress and 2x Thoughtseize worked out better for me. This is just my opinion soley on my ex running the deck, so by all means the members that are reading this and want to put it together I would test this current version first.
The first clear thing you'll notice is the lack of FoW's, and I must say it takes some brass. You almost have to think total aggro with this version, but it does provide a different outlook.
Bottonline with my testing was if a Sacrament resolved {my precomment fight} my games went into coast mode. I can't express the seer raw power of the card in todays meta. The rest of the game plan is a given.
S.M.
for the record, when sacrament first came out i also sugested it being amazingly overpowered in vintage, and caught a lot of slack for it.
i can possibly get behind droping the forces.
but how can you drop necropotence (and yawg bargain) in a deck with dark rits?
and if you're playing timevault, why is tinker in the board? granted, there are better targets in the board, but seems too strong not to main deck.

1.) Anyone who thinks cancel is viable should be shot. in the face. with a hammer.
2.) You misunderstand, what I was suggesting was the total exclusion of Spellstutter Sprite, because it just isnt that good anymore.
3.) Understand, Dredge is not really a Magic: The Gathering deck. When a card is playable in it, it doesn't mean it's a tournament playable card. It means it's playable in whatever crazy fantasy world that Dredge operates in.
Dropping the forces was definitely the right call. the GWSx deck (which is basically the same thing) never played them either. They were just like a security blanket. Thumbs up to that decision, I don't think I even noticed you had them before, I'd just assumed they weren't there. Both the lists I posted before had no forces as well. Again, thumbs up to that.
Dropping Bargain doesn't scare me too much, but dropping necro does seem weird. Care to explain why you cut the necro?

Very simple....I'm human and forgot to add them, it's in the deck CPride as assumed. To note I forgot other other cards that noone seemed to noticed as well but were key to the deck ;)....Human error.
2x Swamp
1x Lotus Petal
So The list is complete now bud.

The record was noted then when you expressed your opinion;). I noticed your statement to just add, and I was also for this card so you had my vote! The yawgmoth's Bargin just isn't needed for success it appears. The necro I again state is in the deck as assumed....I just forgot to post it.
Forces, and this is just me speaking clearly aren't needed in this version of Bob'Storm {glad we're on the same page without a clash}. With the disruption and ofcourse a game ending resolved sacrament place this deck in a whole different situation so to speak, all while still having that explosive range for a flat out TENDRILS kill.
On my Pad I've one very important note I like to share. {Once my opp gets a grip on the idea of the 3x maindeck Sacraments they go on tilt with fear of just that card resolving. With that in mind this allows me to take other angles under the radar in setting up a turn via Storm count, tutoring, Willing ect.}
I wish I've had more time to test this deck, but I'll get there fast knowing I've been playing some sort of type of this deck for awhile.
So for everything is silky smooth. I will admit it's just a tiny bit different from my previous builds as for changes, but I find it to be even more of a threat.
Glad I could share this deck, and I hope all that test it enjoy the facial expressions of their opps in the end.
In a few days I'll have my version ready to post {card changes like the duress to thoughtseize ratio ect} for everyone to see. The're only a few things I don't aggre with, and they mainly deal with the side....but those are just meta issues. The maindeck appears to be spot on with supporting the Bob'Storm concept.
S.M.
Don't get me wrong, playing Dredge is one of my guilty pleasures, along with eating chunky monkey ice cream and watching my Gilmore Girls DVDs in my underpants, but it's pretty much, in my opinion, the very last deck that I'd want anyone to start a career in Vintage with.
This archtype is solid with tons of outs for a win, and to be honest is my TOP GUN right now for events.

1x Mana Crypt {Given}
1x Mana Vault {Given}
1x Memory Jar {I remember hearing Erick R {TeamICBM} once say "This is the most broken card"}
2x Sensei's Divining Top {A trick on wheels. Right when you think using this card with Bob wasn't right, you start spinning this baby into cards you need for that turn to win. This card is a must if you want to gain the best results out of your TOP`STACK tutors, instant forces, and ofcourse abuse with all those fetchlands.}
Black;
3x Dark Confidant {You know him, you love him, It's Bobert folks}
4x Dark Ritual {"If there is such a thing as too much power, I have not discovered it." -Volrath}
1x Vampiric Tutor {This is one of the best tutors period, and plays well with the Top online, or just setting up the win for the following turn}
4x Duress {The best disruption spell, and a perfect kick to the face to ensure combo protection}
1x Demonic Tutor {Gets you what you want, when you need it}
1x Yawgmoth's Will {YaWgaWin}
2x Tendrils of Agony {This storm spell is your win condition, and having 2 gives you a more consistant outcome}
1x Necropotence {Let me have the dark summer of magic again}
1x Yawgmoth's Bargin {If this hits play then you might just have won on the spot}
Blue
1x Ancestral Recall {Targeting who?}
1x Brainstorm {Ice Age made this a common...}
4x Force of Will {Alliances made this a uncommon...}
1x Mystical Tutor {Blues best tutor in my opinion, and the start to bad things to come once it resolves}
1x Hurkyl's Recall {Complete hoser for at least one turn {Staxxx}, and another way to lift Inky, and can add more fual to storm}
1x Chain of Vapor {When you have 3 artifacts, 2 lands and a Mind's Desire in hand things get pretty interesting}
1x Rebuild {Dito on the Hurkyl's Recall and it CYCLES}
2x Repeal {This card can be of use either bouncing something or for added fual to a storm count...Cantrip?}
1x Merchant Scroll {Hey Homelands did print a card worth more then toilet paper}
1x Mind's Desire {I've won games with just one sole copy on the stack, so imagine having 13 copies instead on the stack...}
1x Tinker {I guess I'm going for the Memory Jar}
1x Time Walk {Right...}
1x TimeTwister {I don't think enough players search for this card out of fear, but I'll share a secret with you. I go for this GEM as fast as I can, cross my fingers, and win my games}
Side Board META
1x Darkblast {To kill welders, Bobs, and about anything else that matters}
1x Massacre {Very handy against Mages or other decks that pack white creatures}
2x Hurkyl's Recall {Added Protection against Stax, Null rods ect}
1x Inkwell Leviathan {The other white meat}
1x Mindbreak Trap {An extra force of Will...Opps}
2x Mystic Remora {Comes in against any deck that's going to rifle on you}
2x Tormod's Crypt {A fast free way to handle the yard, and it adds to storm}
2x Pithing Needle {Time Vault, Wastelands, Bazaars ect}
2x Extripate {They can only Force, Ritual, Drain you once ect}
2x Yixlid Jailer {Do you want to cut both legs off a Ichorid players game plan? here's your anwser}
I'm out,
S.M.

Old School Like the Old school
:evillol:Thanks to .toRRent for the awesome Avi and Piet for the Banner:evillol:
S.M.

The rest of the game plan is a given.

i can possibly get behind droping the forces.
but how can you drop necropotence (and yawg bargain) in a deck with dark rits?
and if you're playing timevault, why is tinker in the board? granted, there are better targets in the board, but seems too strong not to main deck.
On my Pad I've one very important note I like to share. {Once my opp gets a grip on the idea of the 3x maindeck Sacraments they go on tilt with fear of just that card resolving. With that in mind this allows me to take other angles under the radar in setting up a turn via Storm count, tutoring, Willing ect.}

What's your current list as of now?
