why goyfs? there are not good in grim long, no offence but where i play people would laugh at you for even thinking of puting them in. take a look at all the tier 1 decks, none ran goyfs, they were almost all pure combo.

None taken since we're not in the Grim~Long thread Val {So I'm the one LmFaO now}. I really don't care what other Tier 1 decks are doing at the moment, but instead trying to bring back DRAIN~TENDRILS. I have to add it's been fun watching my Opp deal with Goyf, and then lose when they run out of resources to storm later.
Glurman you have a good point about putting them in side, but I'm trying to main them for the over-purpose of getting the storm count lowered. I will post a some changes soon, because I hate to admit this one but I think Recoupe should be mained now.............dropping the Regrowth maybe.
You can use Negators to deal damage and avoid splashing green...
Maggical
Now I have tried that one, but rest assure Negator is a SideBoard card at best. It can become your worst nightmare being placed against decks like Fish, LeylineGoblins, Ichorid.........to be even more frank they're dead cards in most cases unless you're facing control.
Now Goyf is good anytime! {1 colorless cheaper, grows larger than that plant from the little Shop of Horrors....... all while providing that stern foot in the proccess}

lol i spaced what thread i was on when i typed this. oh well still the goyfs are not mb nessecity. i have seen a couple of guys run them sb. remember the point of dt is to stall (maby not the best word choise) till you have enough to go off for sure.

Right choice of words, and thats what makes up the differance between {Drain~Tendrils and Grim~Long} I'm just trying to make a impact sooner rather than later.
If you have the deck Val, and the Goyfs than just give the build a try.......just maybe you'll have the last laugh with your friends once they see how smooth splash is.
Again I'm still play testing, and more results+changes are coming!
I ran 4 Negators in the sideboard, that's for sure... But I'm still not convinced about the Goyfs... I prefer the Confidants... They get you the cards you need to go off sooner...

I ran 3 Negators in S.B. when I had them. I know how powerful they are against control, and I have no arguement for a guy wanting to run BOBs! It's kinda hard to talk crap against blacks all-time leading creature.
Plus I won't try to convince anyone to run the goyfs, because I'm just testing the build right now. Though againits kinda hard to fight against tarmogoyf seeing hes the Top creature in the game today period.

i have given a version simmaler to your a try i'll copy you exect list and test it though. were i play its serious games, we usualy play for money and every once in a while for ante. when i did try the goyfs they just combo'd for the win before i was set up.

You're telling me the Sole 3 Copies of Goyf slowed you down? ok.
I play for fun Val, but only during home games ofcourse, and other than that my play is based on going to tourneys.
I can't help your game, but what I can add is maybe a primer to help better understand how to run the deck.
Just to add I don't play for money because that's a waste of time unless its going to give me a chance at $100.00 bucks or more, and I'm not allowed to play ante anymore {I guess some guys just don't want to lose what they through down} but either way good luck with your build.
the goyfs didnt necessarily slow down the build, they just didnt help that much. the helped 1 game but to be honest i would have preffered to draw a storm spell, like empty the warrens or tendrils its self.

I hear what you're saying, but it just feels like Drain~Tendrils isn't as strong now. So with that thought that's why I have added the Goyfs. I not saying its the best choice to get the build back on pace but more like trying something new.
So far so good.
well what about the worlds winner i posted earlier, is there any way to save it? i havent had enought time to mess around with it to try. what if i drop the stuff thats been restricted and run more drains and tutors?

I don't know losing all those restricted cards hurt, and the only one I have seen so far thats proven is Cody version on the first page. I have been trying to go from there, but I just hate the intuition and Ak spots it fills. Don't get me wrong his build wins, but just feels like it gets hosed if your mana stifled........... than your S.O.L.
Plus I think thirst for knowledge is all the draw a guy needs with the tutors supporting everything.
do you really like thirsts in t1. i would think there expencive and kind of slow. do you run any gush, even if all we can run is 1 i think its till worth the slot. also what about merchant scroll or personal turor? i find them to be very usefull.

Outside A.Recall and FoF Thirst for knowledge is the best draw spell in vintage. You just can't live without it in Drain~Tendrils. The Personal tutor only time will tell having access to more than 1 copy now, and Merchant scroll is in the deck I think. Gush is out because as a draw engine (4) is was perfect, but 1 is wothless now (just my Opnion).
well i'll give thirst a try then. what do you think about nights whisper.
I really can't say anything bad about whispers, and when I get a playset I'm surely giving those bad boys a whirl.
I have a deck here I'm posting that Won a 63 man Tourney I believe, and has only the colors U/B for those who are interested. I'm throwing it together and will give my comments soon.
omg i love this build, no gush though :(. oh well i'll be testing this deck and give results later.
Its offical this build is broken.
After about 3 Dozen games my win ratio was around 91% and I'll take those numbers to any tourney I go to.
Repeal replaces itself, and never giving an opp chalice a chance to work {end of turn bounce}.
I had a freak hand with 2 repeals with a mox sapphire in play, and from that point bounce Mox, draw a card, played mox, tapped mox, bounced mox, draw a card, and created a number of storm copies drawing into more dangerious cards like recall, and from that point it was game.
dude i dont know why i never thought of repeals before, they work wonders. removal+storm count+draw all in one
Repeales are awesome, really... I've being using those for a really long time, abd they are great...
I just would run 3 copies of them and 1 Chain of Vapor... Because sometimes you just need a quick bump, and not to pay the X cost...
Besides, and correct me if I'm wrong... When you are in the middle of the combo, you can cast Chain of Vapor on yourself, sacrifice a land and copy it, and then drop down 2 Moxes... And instead of 2 spells like the Repeal gives you, you just casted 4 Spells
