1. Making and Playing:
Its a rather simple deck to make, it has obvious choices of cards that are very strong in Vintage combined with a lot of discard. It plays like MBA, but it is not aggro at all.
Diabolic Edit - Gets rid of Colossus, Leviathan, Goyf, and well...anything.
Thoughtseize - Great turn one disruption, for the cost of 2 life more than duress, this can easily target a goyf.
Duress - Another amazing turn one discard card. This allows you to pick most cards in Vintage to be discarded.
Hymn to Tourach - Two at random, after a turn one Thoughtseize or duress, this can really hurt.
Null Rod - Kills all moxen. A great card against many artifact oriented decks.
Ravenous Trap - Almost all decks in Vintage depend on the graveyard in one way or another. Could be replaced with maindeck Leyline or Tormod's Crypt, but I like the instant speed and you can play this card for its trap cost quite often. It does clash with Dark Confidant, but Tormod clashes with Null Rod, so I recommend Ravenous. Sided out against any deck that doesn't rely on the graveyard.
Demonic Tutor, Imperial Seal, Vampiric Tutor - Allows you to get what you want when you need it without your opponent knowing what it is. Well worth the 2 life for Vamp and Seal.
Yawgmoth's Will - One of the best cards ever printed. This allows you to replay any of the discard in your graveyard, the mana excel, and well anything you want.
Dark Ritual, Mox Jet, Black Lotus - Fast mana. This deck likes fast mana.
Dark Confidant - One of my favorite creatures, 2 cards per turn is amazing against any deck.
Tombstalker - VERY bad with dark confidant, but one of the best kill creatures for mono black. The deck only plays two for the dark confidant reason, more could be added if you choose to replace confidants or if you just don't care.
Strip Mine/Wasteland - Kills Lands. Good in Vintage.
Swamp - Basic, can't be hated on by wastelands, blood moon, or anything of that sort.
4. Matchups (Not complete, anyone who playtests this, please tell me how it does.)
Oath - 50/50
G1 - The longer the game is, the worse for you. Keeping their hand empty is crucial. Once Oath hits, its pretty much game over.
G2 - Put in Leylines, once they hit and don't allow anything to go to the graveyard, just Diabolic Edit their Oath creatures.
Stax - 25/75
G1 - Stax just isn't a good matchup for this deck.
G2 - Nothing to sideboard.
Tez - Need Game Data
TPS - 50/50
G1 - Making them Discard can kill them.
G2 - Nothing to add besides Unmask.
Fish/Noble Goyf - 25/75
G1 - Bad Matchup. Nothing you can do to help on sideboard either.
