Lands-
obviously my land situation is not ideal in any sense. I just couldn't go out and spend possibly $300 on all the necessary lands to make this ideal. ideally
it would consist of 4 savannah , 4 taiga, 4 plateau, 2 windswept heath, 2 wooded foothills and 2 arid mesa (when zendikar comes out).
Cards-
time to break down the use of every card Mother of runes- sideboard material i'd say but it helps a bit, could come out watchwolf- good simple aggro, could come out for better things though quirion dryad- mostly experimental at this point, i like it and it works pretty well wild nacatl- 3/3 for 1. 'nuff said kird ape- just another good aggro creature, kinda standard in zoo woolly thoctar- 2nd turn 5/4 always works out nice with BoP Birds of Paradise- mana ramp Isamaru, hound of konda- aggro, not as good as nacatl or kird ape but still nice, could come out Rancor- make a guy stronger, give him trample and the fact that it's re playable, love this card llightning bolt- burn, basically necessary in any red deck path to exile- spot removal lightning helix- another great burn card. manamorphose- deck thinning/ mana screwage help, probably the first thing to come out
Cards i would want- Grim lavamancer- in basically every zoo deck. i just don't have any at this point. probably going to get some. Tarmogoyf- i would love to have him. but you know i don't want to part with my money.
Goblin Guide(when zendikar comes out)- 2/2 haste for 1. with a minor drawback.
well that's what i have for you guys. if you have any ideas of what should come out for what or other cards that could go in that would be great. any suggestions are always helpful. thanks guys!
It's understandable blue control players would be shocked and in denial at the notion of this card, since their decks have been dominating multiple formats for an eternity yet they've curiously never once had to deal with any counter-hosers that weren't ineffectual, narrow CRAP.
No offense, but Gofy is essential for a competitive zoo deck.
Also, and I'm not sure if you know, but this is the vintage forums. Therefore, I would think Qasali Pridemage is pretty much essential, and Gaddock Teeg is likewise needed. Null Rod would be a great addition, as well.
Dryad, Birds, and Manamorphose seems very, very out of place in your deck. Why run birds in a zoo deck when you essentially curve out at 2cc? I mean, even Noble Hierach would be a better, but still bad choice.
I mostly place legacy zoo, so I'm sure there's many cards I missed that should be included in vintage lists. Hope this helps.
i realize goyf is neccesary but I'm only 16 and money is a big factor in this. yeah i know manamorphose is not good in this it's kind of filler at this point and deck thinning. birds is helpful in the sense that i get all my stuff out faster and it helps tons with mana screwage which is a big problem since i don't have the lands to help out with this.
With respect, how do you actually plan on beating any established Vintage archetype with this deck? With no disruption your only hope is to race them, which you're definitely not going to do against combo and probably aren't going to do against any deck unless you play Tarmogoyf.
I really feel like your deck would be better suited for Legacy.

actually, there are several things you could do to add some punch to that deck. I'd consider 2 or 3 skullclamp. creatures do die and drawing cards is necessary. jittes are likewise good, even though I prefer the rancor route myself (never have liked playing jitte in anything other than black/red aggro). gaddok teeg is probably mandatory as a 3 of, if not 4. he stops too much that hurts. a few bolts are ok as reach, probably wouldn't run the helix. swords to plowshares would be better as your white removal spell (don't run too much, you need ways to beat other decks) if you're going to run against "fish" decks, ie blue based tempo aggro decks, then you're going to need ways to beat them. you'll need to be more aggressive, and pack more hate than they do. the christmas beatings lists running around ahve some good ideas, but I'd suggest maindecking either tin street hooligan, qasali pridemage, null rod (maybe all 3 as 4 ofs), chalice of the void, etc. you need hate to beat the better decks. consider a sideboard packing 4 to 8 red "blasts", ie red elemental blast and pyroblast. they're useful in a counter war. if you can't afford 'goyfs, then yeah, you'll be slower, but in legacy you'll be just as hamstrung. wasteland is a good option, and so is one stripmine. if you can't afford the fetches, then blow up their duals! you need a good way to beat/eat power 9 artifacts....gorilla shaman is a good answer there, too. mogg fanatic is really good against ichorid..he sacrifices himself to kill bridge from below. Playtest lots and you should be able to put together something decent and reasonably priced.
