Yesterday, I did some playtesting with a "Canadian" decklist I found and I had some fun playing with it.
I wasn't sold on some of the cards, although my friends reassured me that some of them were likely just weak in the matchups I played (Doomsday and Landstill). Tarmogoyf managed to be huge and kill people on a few occasions, but he never really impressed me--a friend suggested I try Young Pyromancer in its place.
The cards that really seemed to fail to perform were Spell Pierce and Steel Sabotage. I don't think either card is weak (I actually think they're both very powerful, especially in Vintage), and my bias is probably coming from my current meta. 4 Gush seemed like too many to me. Delver of Secrets never impressed me. Fire // Ice never impressed me--I would prefer to play Forked Bolt, but I can see the merits of Fire and Ice over it (blue card for Force, instant). Preordain isn't bad, but I feel like it'd be less useful if I ended up cutting Delver.
Another friend suggested I try out a BUG build. I'm interested in doing that. I've been told Edric, Spymaster of Trest is a house.
Anyways. All that said, I'd like to shift the deck a little. I want to say bye-bye to Tarmogoyf and hello to Dark Confidant and Young Pyromancer. I wouldn't be opposed to including Deathrite Shaman, since I think the card is super-good.

It's cute and potentially bad, but the fact that Snapcaster Mage, Dark Confidant, Young Pyromancer, and Vendilion Clique are all Wizards means Cavern of Souls and Riptide Laboratory actually have some synergy. Are either of those lands worth it? Am I being bad at Vintage in general?
My cube list on CubeTutor.
Both are very much under construction. Please stop by and talk about it!
