I upgraded it so it doesn't fall apart after turn 4 which he did. It has a higher consistency of winning on turn 2 now and is much faster. What I'm thinking of doing is taking out Groundswell for Giant Growth. What do all of you guys think. Any other changes I can make. I recentely won a fnm vintage of like 40 people went undefeated 2-0 every match with this deck. I'm hoping one day to bring this to a pro tour qualifying tourny
Let me know if there is anything I can do to make this better or make it more universal right now Nature's Claim and Mental misstep deal with everything I face at the local fnms. Also do you guys think this deck would be capable of competing at higher lvls?
Lose the Lotus and Mox stuff and you might have a decent Legacy deck, but I doubt this is a competitive Vintage strategy. If you stick with the Vintage-ness, add a Sol Ring (provides 1st turn Ichorclaw Myr). Also look into Concordant Crossroads, and consider cutting Gitaxian Probes.
I have considered putting a Sol ring into the deck but most of the cards in the deck dont cost colorless. It would only benefit the Ichorclaw Myr. Sometimes I dont even draw ichorclaw so then I end up with a sol ring just sitting there.
I actually haven't tried the deck with the crossroads so I'll have to playtest it this week see how it does.
When I first built the deck it was legacy but we tried the mox and lotus in it and it was sooo much faster so fell in love with it <3
I like the Gitaxian orbs because it gives the deck some draw power which speeds it up a bit. It also tells me what cards to save mana for or when to attack and if I'll be able to kill them with no interferance
So while I would prefer to play my infect deck in Legacy, no local game stores hold legacy tournaments... just vintage. The only restricted card I ran was Lotus Petal, but I think that since one of the stores allows 2 proxies, I can balance it with Mox Emerald and Black Lotus.
Autumn's Veil in the SB is most likely to change, I'm just not sure to what. Possibly Reverent Silence for more enchantment hate (One of the biggest trouble decks in my local meta is an Oath of Druids deck.)
I also don't feel like diluting the deck to perform better turns 4+ is good, I'd prefer to SB in counters to protect the speed on the first 2-3 turns. Pact of Negation has been AMAZING and won me many games.
Maybe Vines of the Vastwood would be a good way to protect the infector (same cost as Autumn's Veil BTW). Plus if you have GG, that's probably GG! Land Grant is a cheaper option than fetch lands and can not be Stifled.
Have you guys considered Not of this World for this deck? It is a free counter to anything attempting to kill your swinging-for-lethal creature.
Also, what am I missing about fetches and Land Grant? Why not just run more forests in those spots? And PLEASE don't try to say "deck-thinning" because that is in no way a viable reason. Forest can't be stifled OR countered.
I tested it out with Land Grant but didn't like it as much as with the fetches. More than once I ended up with multiple Inkmoths and a Land Grant, which cost me the game due to me not being able to cast any pump till T3. I haven't actually had a fetch Stifled, but it is a valid concern. The good part is I have Mental Misstep to SB in to take care of that
Well the fetches can ensure landfall for Groundswell, and yes I feel like they help with thinning the deck.
I also don't think I'd like Not of This World, it is too situational. I'm more worried about counterspells than kill/bounce spells. Pact of Negation takes care of both as well, and if Autumn's Veil also prevents most of those spells.
Well I wanted to say that Llanowar Augur was awful, but after looking at the Creature and considering I have to say that I was pleasantly suprised - it's not awful, just a bit situational - it does block Confidant, lonely Welders and chump Lodestone. Since it's on the board and it is a creature it's gets around Thorn and Sphere effects.
The recent Modern infect is running Blazing Shoal pitching Reaper King for the one shot, two card kill. I think maybe Mono Green using Invigorate/Berserk is better.
Only real changes I made so far was adding 2 Necropede (More creatures is necessary) and swapping Pact of Negation for Guttural Response, hoping it will be more versatile. I also want to try Llanowar Augur to combat aggro decks and make sure some poison gets through as well as stopping their stuff. Considering changing it for Dismember or just putting in Pacts of Negation in as well as Mental Misstep and Guttural Response.
The only times I lose with this deck is when either A) Don't get creatures or B) Get my pumps/creatures countered so that is why the SB is very controlling.
Maybe a singleton Concordant Crossroads to enable a turn 1 kill? If you are having trouble with finding creatures, then maybe Worldly Tutor as an additional creature? With the Spirit Guide you can even use it if you are on the draw turn 1.
I'm not sure how much Concordant Crossroads will help. I mean it will allow a turn 1 win but you need the perfect six cards to pull it off. Speed isn't an issue with this deck: it's the one thing it does nicely. I am having the biggest issue with consistency.
Here is my current take of Infect. I added black mainly for draw and hand control. I now that this is a mono-green thread but I run it in previous deck and it prove to be very effective. I also took the modern combo and adapted it to this deck as well.
Let me know if there is anything I can do to make this better or make it more universal right now Nature's Claim and Mental misstep deal with everything I face at the local fnms. Also do you guys think this deck would be capable of competing at higher lvls?

My Peasant version in my sig is rather consistent at T2 or T3 kills, maybe check that out for some ideas.
