This is my version of the oath deck, now as you all know this is a top 8 decklist in vintage. (although its not there in the vintage competetive decks idk why... but its here now)
This deck is based around my getting out oath of druids and going through my deck to grab akroma and/or platinum angel. What stops me from milling myself is 2 copys of gaeas blessing. Now if you play someone that does not run any creautures, you can feed him creatures with forbiddin orchard.
Here is the decklist and i need help. and BTW I FRIKIN ACCIDENTLY HIT BACKSPACE AND IT DELETED MY ENTIRE WORK ON WRITING ABOUT EVERY FRIKIN CARD! SO NOW I HAVE TO DO IT AGAIN! YAY! ..........damn....
HERE I GO AGAIN! EXPLAINING ALL THE cARDS AGAIN! BECAUSE I HIT BACK! and it deleted ALLL my work.... im not using tags this time, my hands hurt, will do it tom.
4x oath of druids- bases of the deck, lets me get out akroma turn 1-2. and kill u.
5x mox's- umm 0 mana for 1 colored mana that will stay permenetly. sounds good to me.......................
1x black lotus- .... 0 mana for 3 mana of any one color. 1st turn druid.
4x FOW- 0 mana counter target spell, best counterspell in magic
4x mana drain- 2 mana counter spell, u get its mana during ur turn. wow sweet.
4x intuition- grab oath or FOW or anything u need. great card
4x brainstorm- lets me go through my deck and find oath fast. good card draw.
3x impulse- lets me go through the top and grab somehting i need. like FOW or mana drain or oath.
2x misderection- changes the target of a spell. its very powerful.
2x gaea's blesing- makes it so i dont mill myself, i think i should only have 1??? but havin 1 in hand is nice. u get to shuffle 3 in the deck and draw a card. not bad.
4x accumulated knowledge- since i mill myself a bunch, it lets me draw alot for only 2 mana.
1x time walk- 2 mana for "take another turn". ..........
1x ancestral recall- 1 mana instant speed draw 3 cards, or let ur opponent draw three.............T_____T (yes ive seen it happen, but they had 4 cards left and he thoght it would be funny)
1x fact or fiction- great card, look at top 5 opp seperates u pick a pile. AWSOME! great card
1x gush- free draw 2 cards. great card.
1x akroma angel of wrath- beatstick
1x platinum angel- beat and keeps me alive, i can protect himor her......
4x tropicla island- green blue land, good.
4x polluted delta- shuffles if brainstorm gives u nothing good, and grabs tropcial
1x stip mine- kills a land. holy moley rigged.
3x wasteland- kills non-basic land
4x forbidden orchard- makes creautres for opponent, so u can go off with oath.
1x island- island....
yess... i didnt hit backspace... thank god.
PLEASE HELP ME! THANKS!
Do not post in the competitive section. This post is not reflective of the optimal build of a modern oath list, case in point. I will create a thread in competitive for that as it probably deserving, but please adhere to vintage rules in the future. This is not a new policy.
seems like a pretty standard akroma list, i feel that akroma is not the best choice in todays vintage. The new dragon i forget its name right now, but it is the big one in shards.
4x brainstorm- lets me go through my deck and find oath fast. good card draw.
Brainstorm is restricted in vintage. Your playstyle with oath will drastically change with only 1 of them in a deck.
4x accumulated knowledge- since i mill myself a bunch, it lets me draw alot for only 2 mana.
Keep in mind that you play with 2 gaea's blessing so likely you won't have a graveyard because your cards will be shuffled back to your library. I'm not convinced accumulated knowledge is a good draw spell for oath. I'd rather play thirst for knowledge, which would let you discard your creatures in case you draw them (with only 1 brainstorm, drawing your creatures without some form of discard outlet can be fatal).
4x tropicla island- green blue land, good.
4x polluted delta- shuffles if brainstorm gives u nothing good, and grabs tropcial
Why do you need 4 tropical? And with only 1 brainstorm, 4 deltas aren't really needed mainly because 4 tropicals also aren't needed.
This is my Oath deck at the moment, and I have to add so members don't think I'm just joining in on every thread that I have most of the staple to build several decks.
Oath is one of my Fav's, and with the clock now changing from 3 turns to 2 turns be scared..............be very scared of a build that looks like this one.
1. Negate is flat out broken in this build.
2. Hellkite and Akroma = 2 turns and they're a toast.
3. That random Fire//Ice is laughable, until it solves you.
4. Impulse is just silky so don't forget it guys.
5. Duress provides real control in tadem with the flow......I said flow:D.
Here's one that's a given for those that are new to Oath.........Scroll Rack or wow you must be outta your mind now that brainstorm is restricted {a must have to get those fatties out of hand, and they work wonders with fetches}
My S.B.has been the same for a long time, but once you have something that isn't broke...........why fix it.
The interesting thing about us legacy players is that we consider Force of Will, Dark Ritual, Blood Moon, Tarmogoyf and Swords to Plowshare to be fair.
DC does not belong in any oath builds, the creatures you want to put in play must have haste to speed up the clock or can't be killed like SSS. If you oath DC into lay i have two 2 to get welders and weld it away.
Watcha gonna cut for the second blessing? A vintage deck should'nt be desinged by worst cases senario. One is all you ever need.
BTW, I find Empyral Archangel better than Simic Sky Swallower in the sideboard agaist deck packing powerful removal spells like swords to plowshare in order to deal with oath fatties. It has shroud and evasion as well, and it ensures you won't get raced by the 4-5 tokens you might have given to your opponent thanks to forbidden orchard. I've started running it and I'm glad I did.
That deck really took a hit from the Brainstorm restriction, but it's still playable. Only, having to merchant scroll into brainstorm (or demonic/vampiric/mystical tutor into it) just to shuffle back Akroma and Gaea's blessing is kinda lame.

Probably not 100% correct list, 8 pacts... but what are the main difference between this and the Haste version in this thread? Lands seems alot cheaper. Is this worse or equal? Cheers

Chrome Mox is unrestricted, you can run 4 and I'd suggest it. I think that the Platinum angel and Pact of Negation interaction is cute, but PoN doesn't cut it when it comes to resolving your Oath. I'd definitely would run Mana Drain in conjunction with Platinum Angel, but that may be out of your budget range.

Not any sideboard yet. Am very unsure about the manabase, but think lands + 4 chrome mox, 1 mox diamond and 1 lotus petal will do it. Any advise on improving this build (without adding any power, more mana drain or mana crypt) ?

I'm not sure if playing Strip Mine/Wasteland is even good in Oath anymore. What is the history behind playing Strip Mine effects in Oath, I'm just curious.

In mirror, he who has the most orchards in play wins.
Since you can only have 4 orchards in a deck, blow up your opponent's orchards.
Beyond that, strip effects are general-purpose methods of slowing an opponent down. If you can whack that academy/workshop/bazaar before it can do more damage, your chances of winning will go up.
100 years ago (ie, prior to the printing of orchard), strip effects let you deal with man lands, not that it has a much relevance today.

That makes alot of sense. Mirror matches shouldn't be as rampant as it used to be, so I'm inclined to run a more stable manabase. You just made me reminisce of the "orchard-less" days of Oath decks which played Mishra's Factory and Fearie Conclaves. The deck was still a house even back then. It's funny how the deck has evolved over the years (since the Randy Beuler era) and still manages to spark interest. Meandeck Oath also brings back favorable memories.

What would you use instead? Really like this deck but power 9 is so expensive.
I think that you might be able to afford Mana Crypt.
I love the build BTW. I love how you make up for the lack of Brainstorm with Scroll Rack. Ingenious.
Oh, and Chrome Mox and Mox Diamond are now unrestricted so it could probably easily replace Power for you.
