There is a vintage event coming up pretty soon which is something to the effect of 15 proxies, and i have literally never played vintage before so i wanted to try something out. I'm a big affinity player in legacy and it seems like a lot of the stuff there can transition over to this format.
Here is my list, * are my proxies as i have everything else:
I still have 5 proxies I can use for the event. Im not sure what i would change or what i would want to add that I may have forgotten. Perhaps the other 3 moxen but I am thinking i want to keep the deck 2 colors and im not sure what i should cut for them. Would love some advice.
Ok, the first thing to do is thus: Don't make the deck worse than the Legacy Deck. Remember, you can't just add power cards and expect the deck to be better, you have to remember the synergy that affinity is build on.
Moxen are strictly better artifact lands, but that doesn't make it ok to cut your artifact lands.
The problem with that second build is: what do you do if your opponent plays Null Rod and you're not holding Force of Will? You are now reduced to one usable mana source in your entire deck.
Even if you threw in Hurkyl's Recall, you wouldn't be able to cast it.
I think some non-artifact lands are called for.

I agree that basics are called for, the deck has more than enough artifacts to power out the few affinity cards.
Everything that is in the deck is there with reason i feel. I didnt just look at power cards and throw them in the deck, everything serves a function. That being said i have 0 idea what the meta will be or what people play as i have no time with vintage so that's where i'm looking for help.
The first deck doesn't really have the kind of power needed to face any actual vintage decks. It has a couple of random combos, but not the support to actually make them work. YawgWill really doesn't do anything here, for instance. I get that Trinket mage can fetch either half of the vault/Key combo, but if you want to support that, you should run more than one Mage.
Null Rod is a Valid point, but Affinity is a deck that lives in fear of hate anyways. Is it worth the loss in power to avoid the Rod? Probably, but playtesting will be required to get that right. I just threw that list together on a whim. I wouldn't actually run any of the "affinity" creatures, honestly. Vintage isn't quite a creatureless format, especially in undeveloped metagames. Expect to see Goyf and friends, along with Random Blightsteel Collosus on the ground, so I would pick Plating holders with evasion. Ethersworn Canonist can buy you precious time against everything except Stax.
Affinity needs around 40 artifacts to function properly, in my experience with the deck. Of course, you could probably scrap the affinity subtheme and still end up with a fairly good deck built around the time vault combo.
On the Meta: There are a couple of "top" Vintage decks. You could check the appropriate section of this forum for that though. Expect to see Oath, Dredge, Storm Combo, and Time Vault combo represented, as well as Stax. If you don't have an established Metagame in your area, you'll probably also see decks such as Elves, Kobold Storm, Burn, etc represented. There are also Null Rod decks lurking around, and they could come in pretty much anything from Mono Red Aggro to U/W Fish.
I don't know anything about Vintage, but ins't Mishra's Workshop useable in it?
it may be useful to make stuff go faster in affinity, and it is a non-artifact land.
If you would play Workshop, I would only run one. But then Tolarian Academy does a better job. If you still wanted Workshop, I would try Ancient Tomb or City of Traitors first.
The problem with Workshop is that he wants to play non-artifact spells also. Workshop is great in Stax, where everything you want to cast is an artifact, but in here it's just not needed.
Besides, we're looking at a mana curve that caps at 2-3. Except for Tezz, but I would advise against running him.
Here are some lists from over on Morphling the second list is a much more standardized list and a 1st place list. Although the second list is a year old. I think the Ravager needs to be part of any list, but of course I could be very wrong. These lists might even be viewed as highly aggro shop lists, since I really think of Affinity as using Artifact lands (the second list does use some Artifact lands) - hope this helps in the brewing.
Nice find, Beralt. Affinity has changed quite a bit with the recent mirrodin block, however. I would hazard a guess that at least a full turn has been shaved off the deck's goldfish kill as result of new cards.
Ravager is amazing in any metagame that involves creature combat, combat tricks, and removal as a part of a typical game. That being said, I don't think preparing for creature combat is the way to go in vintage, although in an undefined meta...
On the White splash: It also allows for Steelshaper's gift, which effectively lets you run 8 cranial platings. It isn't as versatile as enlightened tutor, but it's a full turn faster.
