Who plays Mox Opal in their vintage (or casual) MUD deck, how many, and why? It seems like a relatively powerful mana source for powered vintage MUD and I'm considering 4 copies in my MUD deck. Of course you can play all 5 moxes already, if you got 'em. Then you might not want the Opals. Or maybe it's the moxes that really make Mox Opal shine. If Mishra's Workshop were restricted would that improve the play of this card? TBH, I don't think Mox Diamond or Chrome Mox have the same utility as Mox Opal. Just want to hear your thoughts on this seemingly powerful card.
I think the Opals are not worth it unless you are playing colored MUD. MUD needs a decent threat density, which the Opals will not add to, and, in my opinion, they don't bring enough to the table that cannot be achieved by a normal suite of power.
Was thinking of mixing Affinity and Shops with cards like Mycosynth Golem and Myr Enforcer and whatever else is typical of Affinity...along with Wurmcoil Engine and the artifact lands...It would basically be Shops with a minor in Affinity...I guess Mycosynth Golem might be a tad expensive to cast...besides Mud has a steep learning curve that I'm not ready for right now.
MUD's learning curve is easily manageable. It's no more about remembering triggers than it is about learning timing and the whys of the deck construction itself.
Was thinking of cutting Sphere of Resistance for Mox Opal and playing more of an Aggro strategy with the Affinity mixed in. Likely, not as powerful as stopping your opponent with Sphere of Resistance but makes the deck a little faster for straight Aggro....T1 Mox Ruby and Artifact Land....T2 Artifact Land and Mox Opal...into a Lodestone Golem....
I'm more interested in making my MUD deck a strong Aggro deck first, then the disruption is secondary.

How much would Mox Opal/Artifact lands as a strategy help you with faster Aggro? They seem like they might go more in an explosive plays direction, though it depends on your threat density.
Haven't completed the list yet, just considering the usefulness of Mox Opal... Just a minor improvement in speed with typically a turn 2 Mox Opal Obviously, the Moxes are better, but I think there's room for a playset(or at least a couple) of Mox Opal. Particularly when playing artifact lands. Will have the complete list up for critique soon.

I would also be interested in seeing your list.
