That's 41 cards already selected for our 75, leaving room for 34 cards of your choice.
What kind of deck could you make that might actually be playable? Is there any? If not, what deck would you play that maximizes the number of restricted cards you're playing to the highest number you're willing to get and still consider it a playable deck, including using all of the Power 9?
I don't personally have an answer for this, but I was curious if there was anything out there that might be worth trying.
I noticed that there are no creatures in the 41 restricted cards. What kind of creatures (if any) would you think would go along with with a high-restricted-count decklist? Obviously some of the cards, like Flash, are included in the decklist, but we have no creatures, so we would need creatures in order for that card to have a purpose. There really aren't any win-cons in the 41, they're all just support, acceleration, tutors, control, etc. So what do we use to win? I assume we'd want something like Fireball?
A storm deck can use most of the restricted list. Trinisphere and Flash don't fit and Balance is awkward but almost everything else does something useful.
I feel obligated to chime in on this every time Banefire gets mentioned as the Fireball of choice in Vintage. But really Kaervek's Torch is usually superior because of Misdirection and Mindbreak Trap - not so much the Trap, but Misdirection is still in a lot of lists out there.
Thanks for the answers, everyone! Interesting comment on Kaervek's Torch vs Banefire. Either one is certainly better than Fireball, so that's good to know haha.
