I'm as surprised as everyone else, but it's almost that time again, friends. I've gone through the sample cubes from last year and culled the lists that haven't been updated at least through Bloomburrow. I also did another run through CubeCobra and I'm up to 122 cubes. 19 of them haven't been updated through Duskmourn yet. I won't include those lists in the data, but just a heads up if you're one of those 19.
I plan to pull the data and post the average cube list mid December this year, so in about a month or so.
As an aside, still irked by CubeCobra not having better sort and search options when searching cubes.
This year is particularly weird because we still have Foundations releasing this Friday, November 15th. Do we think that also should be a requirement of being included in this cube count?
It'll be another month or so before I pull the data, so I would assume there will be several of the selected lists that have been updated through Foundations by then. To be honest, I dropped about 50 or so lists from last year that just hadn't been updated. Seeing 19 lists that still haven't been updated to Duskmourn makes me feel like it's not likely to get 100+ lists updated through Foundations by mid December. I think I'm content going with updated through Duskmourn and treating any Foundations inclusions as gravy.
Just wait till next year when it's weird because people have to decide whether they are adding cards from the 50% Universes Beyond/Marvel/etc stuff. There are entire sets I plan to skip.
I'm afraid my cube might have been one of those not updated, but it's been remedied Now just need to attribute them to archetypes, count them and the onto the next batch changes.
I pull them all from CubeCobra. The CC search is abysmal, so I just search for "peasant" and look through them for cubes updated through the most recent set. This probably means I miss peasant lists that don't include the word peasant in the title, but there's not a better way to filter on CubeCobra.
I didn't realize you only count cubes with "Peasant" in the name. That would explain why mine wasn't counted last year. I changed the title, but just in case, please include my Uncommonly Good Cube

My peasant cube list: Uncommonly Good (only uncommons, with rare lands)
I also didn't realize that it was only cubes with "Peasant" in the name and assumed my Uncommon Cube was left out due to a lack of Commons making it something different than Peasant!
Would love to be included as long as it does meet the criteria (I would argue that only including uncommons is at least as Peasant as lists that include Rare lands).
Have you ever considered using the Lucky Paper Cube Map to help find cubes that fit the criteria? Not sure if that would be more unwieldly than the search function but I could see it being a decent option.
Thank you as always for your work on this project. It's truly a spectacular resource for the community. <3

It might slightly skew the numbers, but probably not enough to matter. Shock lands made the average list last year. You're on the list!

That's a great idea. I'll peek around the map and see if gives me links for cubes I haven't found already.
I polled 123 cubes this year. Shout out to everyone who regularly updates their cube!
169 cards are new to the list this year, while 140 cards left. 35 of the new additions are actually "old" additions. Cards like Fireball, Serendib Efreet, Strip Mine, Elves of Deep Shadow, Fire Covenant, and other golden oldies make an appearance this year. The rest of the new additions were all printed in 2024. That's a lot of good stuff for us peasant cubers this year.
Of the cubes polled, a little over half had been updated through Foundations. The others had been updated through Duskmourn.
The strangest thing to me every year is that there are never any cards present across all cubes. You would think that "staples" like Lightning Bolt or Counterspell would just be auto-includes for everyone, but they are not. 108 cubes is the highest threshold for repeated cards and, in fact, none of those four cards were either of these two staple spells. Those cards are:
Ephemerate
Mulldrifter
Thraben Inspector
Young Pyromancer
Bolt and Counterspell make it into the next most repeated cards, but at 106 cubes each. I just find that interesting.
I hope you get some use from this list in 2025, my friends. Feel free to use the cube and the data on the sheet however you wish. If you run some numbers yourself, please share it with us. I love this kind of data.
Cheers to you all and I hope everyone has a great holiday season! Here's to 2025 and all the power creep WotC is likely to bless us with!
Damn, just missed the cutoff for finishing updates. There's always next year.
Anyway, thank you once again for the hard work you put in each year calibretto! Been lurking here for years, but finally got my act together to get an account up. Sifting through the numbers now to find out where there's a consensus I've clearly missed and where else I'm simply alone on an island (no one else liked Go Forth, eh?)
I put together a spreadsheet last year to compare the changes in the top 360 over the last 4 years. I'll need to boot up my old PC and find that file so I can update it and put it online somewhere..
In the meantime, Young Pyromancer has stayed at the top of the most-played list 5 years running, which is the most important thing to me

You're very welcome! Hope you get some use out of it. I wouldn't put too much thought into anything in the most sets that don't make the cut in this list. Just over half had been updated through Foundations and I'm not sure even all of them had added any J25 cards. We had the same thing with Wilds of Eldraine last year and you'll see several WOE cards in the list this year.
Nice! I've compared my 360 to this and I think it's worth reiterating to that this project is not the end all be all for peasant cubes. I find it useful for seeing what community consensus is, but know that your cube is your cube. Run the cards that you and your group enjoy playing. There are a bunch of cards that don't make the average 360 (or even the 800 card version) that are some of the most powerful cards available to us at peasant. Lots of people choose not to run certain cards because of the environment they want to curate.
