The sets they never stop coming, and it's time to look forward to some downshifts again! I mean, after we've all got some testing in with our KamigawaCapenna Baldur's Gate cards, yeah?
And here's the first, get in my cube!

Yep, I put in the new Rumor Gatherer from Capenna, but Mentor is definitely better.
Yeah, I was also about to go 'bye, Rumor Gatherer, we hardly knew ye', but then I got to thinking how important this kind of CA is in white and I think that I might try and stuff both in. The effect is still rare enough to be worth two slots despite the direct competition between the two, it feels like.
Just yesterday I had an Azorius blink deck with Rumor Gatherer where it slightly underperformed. Granted, my deck was mostly blue, but still. Being a 2/1 and having two pips also hurts it. Difficult, maybe I want to get another test in.
What are your most wanted downshifts? Mine is definetly Thalia, Guardian of Thraben, she doesn't look like it would break anything and Vryn Wingmare feels awful to play with

I cannot remember exact ones right now but I feel like something like Blood Scrivener could be nice. It's got a powerful enough effect to be hype but in limited, it would not really break anything by being uncommon so there is a realistic chance of getting it. Mostly utility stuff right now rather than anything bomby, I would say.

I'm pretty much along the same lines. I've got random rare aggro cards from previous sets (Bearer of SilenceGlint-Sleeve Siphoner, and I wouldn't mind those being officially peasant as I don't see them affecting limited too much, so they might just as well just be peasant legal.

1) I would love to see the scrylands (Temple of Enlightenment and friends) downshifted to uncommon, but it seems unlikely that WOTC would be willing to do that and the bounce lands being spoiled pretty much means this is not happening.
2) As VariSami said, red could really use 2 power, 1 mana creatures without downside. Recent releases seem to be getting closer (Reinforced Ronin), so this seems possible.
Dark-Dweller Oracle got downshifted from rare to common. It seems decent if you can sacrifice on your turn reliably. Trying to sac in response is difficult to use effectively, I really wish it let you play it until your next end step.
I'd gladly include BotL if I had a really durdly cube, but I don't so I won't. It should really give you *something* the turn you played it.
Originally I liked Myth Realised, like a spell-slinger control finisher that you can cast at any time for cheap and only turn into a creature once it's big, and it always dodges sorcery removal. I had it in my cube when I put in some suitable rares I thought I'd otherwise never play with. (I never made the time to cube with that version though.) All of that said, for that role we now have Ominous Seas in the better colour, hmm?

For me, the appeal of Bounty of the Luxa is a 4-mana enchantment that non-conditionally gives you *something* every turn, although the thing you get is conditional.
Yeah. I'd still like to get something out of this set's spoiler season. Mentor was a great one, but once again, compared to pauper people getting so many juicy downgrades, this all feels lackluster so far. (And even if there are still a couple coming, it doesn't change the fact there's a big gap here.)

Body Double is also very exciting to me. Blue has quickly become the prime enabler for reanimation in my Cube between lots of efficient self-discarding creatures and great card selection. Being able to have a self-contained blue reanimator plan is nice.
That said, this costs 5 mana without most of the additional upsides other cubes can offer. No Reveillark loops, Survival of the Fittest cycling through creatures or fetching with a Chord of Calling.
Still, the novel appeal of Body Double is going to earn it a spot for testing in cube.
Also, people are really sleeping on Cryptic Spires. It requires a pen-and-paper for tracking, but it is a very important card without being overpowered by virtue of its limited function as a fixing dual. Only sad part is that they already announced no foil copies are being printed.
At this point, R&D is just taunting us with Oona's Prowler. Reprinted but not downgraded.
This was pretty disappointing as Oona's Prowler would have been a great addition to Peasant. I also think Splinterfright could have been downshifted.
Body Double fits in well with U/G and U/B graveyard shenanigans. Its also nice that it can target creatures in your opponent's graveyard. However, 5 mana is less than ideal given that its power is conditional on having something good in the graveyard (where as most black reanimation is 3 mana or less).
Myth Realized is alright as well. Fits in with W/U or W/R spells matter with Seeker of the Way and Clarion Spirit. Good cost, avoids sorcery speed removal, and can self pump. Being susceptible to enchantment removal and requiring 2WWW to cast and become a 1/1 is not ideal.
1) Vesperlark in your graveyard (easily done with evoke).
2) Cast Body Double as a copy of Vesperlark.
3) Sacrifice Body Double (using a sacrifice outlet, like Goblin Bombardment).
4) The death trigger from Body Double (as a copy of Vesperlark) allows you to return Body Double (a 0/0 in the graveyard) to play.
5) Body Double enters as a copy of Vesperlark and the loop can be repeated.

Also, better red 1-drops, specifically those with 2 power. Realistically, something like Falkenrath Pit Fighter, Firedrinker Satyr or Wayward Guide-Beast. If WotC goes wild, Goblin Guide.

3) Languish. Seems like WOTC is hesitant to go above -2/-2 for uncommons, but Feast of Succession and Slaughter the Strong exist, so maybe?

Cryptic Spires seems very good for two-color cubes.
Dark-Dweller Oracle is not as good as Dockside Chef (and friends), but is a pretty reasonable sacrifice outlet for red.

My biggest wish is Isamaru, Hound of Konda. A super solid addition to white decks that is no longer too powerful for Peasant cubes.
EDIT: I LOVE Cryptic Spires. Going to treat it like a Conspiracy and have people write their choices on a piece of paper to slip into the card sleeve.

The downside is that Simic is littered with conditional card-advantage engines. Ongoing Investigation, River Hoopoe, Quandrix Apprentice, Primal Empathy, and my favorite Parcelbeast.
My guess is that everyone has their favorite conditional card engine in Simic amd if you are doing big ramp things, that could be Bounty of the Luxa.
