Been a long while. Wanted to see where thi gs are landing as our neck of the woods only seems traveled during Spoiler Seasons.
From what. Have gathered (please, please correct me):
--Explore <ability> was cute but ultimately did nothing reliably.
--Most of the "major" changes were Downshifts like J. Thief and Thrill-Kill.
--New swarm support helps but nothing to shift it beyond Tier 2 Oppurtunity in a cube (I support Boros Swarm)
-- White has decent redundancy in Lifelink for 3cc>. Any better reports on this??
-- Most of Amonkhet and like all but 3 cards of Ixlan are too block-related to be good. (I saw 1cc Pirate, 3cc White Dino and 2cc Menace Goblin).
--I am switching to Cloudreader from Prescient in 5cc Blue.
--Reports on Peregrine Drake, Prowrss/Spell-Matters, and/or Graveyard strategies??
Thanks in advance. I see Evaluate Everything is growing weeds. I will see if I can help there when I get my updated cube in.
It's no replacement for a more active discussion from people with firsthand experience (which is sometimes hard to find in this subforum for Pauper stuff), but the CubeTutor "top cards by set" lists are pretty helpful. They also break down by rarity, super helpful for Pauper/Peasant stuff.
Take everything with a grain of salt -- it's absurd that Sacred Cat is in more cubes than Gust Walker -- but it at least gets you going in the right direction.
From that set specifically, I'd say the worth-testing commons are:
The only commons from AKH in my Peasant list are Walker and Inciter, and I'd also not really blink an eye at Forsake/Wander/Stamina. The others I'm less sure how they'd stack up, e.g. how to evaluate green 7's if you can't play the crazy uncommons I'm used to like Pelakka Wurm. You mention Boros Swarm, seems like Tah-Crop Elite would do well there but I've never cast it in Cube since I can instead use stuff like Relief Captain and Kongming.
forget about the most played stuff at cubetutor. there are way too many people out there creating random cubes especially at pauper level. the active people here are probably the only ones that finetune their pauper cubes.
the easiest way to get an update is to read through the spoiler threads, which are basically the only active topics here most of the time.
depending on your cube (more spikey or more johnnyish) we got some nice additions. quite a bit rarity changes for my spike cube t1, and a bigger bunch of cards for my t2, which evolved really well. (even deeper token and madness support and solid allrounders.) amonkhet block turned out being really strong there (15 additions from akh alone)
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Some of the CT Top Set stuff is *definitely* skewed.
I see many ppl running Jungleborn Pioneer. To me it is only +10% better than other 3cc 2x body cards. And as for Exert, I will test the 2x White ones mentioned.
Is Explore <ability> unremarkable?
I really like cycling, so many of the new things came in. I just need to keep Aggro/Midrange healthy.
Is Hexproof still taboo/OP?? Because it seems to be getting more redundancies.
only interesting explore card seems Tishana's Wayfinder which is good in either mode, although it often does exactly the opposite of what you need.
2nd best exert card is Emberhorn Minotaur, the green 2/2 is okay as well, but the mechanic is too slow for spiky cubes.
Pioneer is a solid addition for even more tokens, otherwise uninteresting.
All of the one-mana cycler are somewhat interesting, especially if you want to add cycling for gameplay mechanic reasons. green got very solid fatties Rampaging Hippo, Greater Sandwurm
