How am I getting ahead of the race in an aggro deck when I can't even play my 1 drops into unknown t1 opponents?! Seems sketchy at best. I get you've spent eons on your format, but I'm pretty happy to not see the ogre in lists.
Ghazban is usally played in RG which has easily 8 1-drops-
Sorta, some of them are suspend-forever, some are 1 power, you run into a lot of the same problems you're having with X/1s if you're relying on gruul one drops for aggressive starts where you can guarantee bringing their life total down. From your t1 cubetutor link I would say only 6 are actually aggressively-inclined when including the Ogre. Sedge Scorpion, Quirion, even Bloodlust Inciter are more midrange than aggressive.
the only problematic start against ogre is the mountain into burn face opener. against everything else its totally viable. of course every aggressive all in stratwgy comes with a drawback, otherwise the deck would be pretty unbalanced. the amount of hate against x/1 is definitely much higher. anyway, whats the point here. I run one creature you dont like, but that no argument that adds anything to the x/1 problematic.
Being on the draw is kind of a draw(lol)back. Really, starts where you're attacked first or you can't get attacks in are drawbacks. Yeah these decks come with drawbacks, but they shouldn't be in the creatures themselves due to the strategy as a whole because, as you insinuate, the archetype is already all-in enough as is.
4. Jungleborn Pioneer - surprised more people aren't talking about this one. Maybe because I like this style of design too much, or maybe because it's just another Nessian Courser with bonus, but the bonus helps it fight against dividable burn, one of the few good answers to this type of token generator. And who doesn't like tokens? The more the merrier
I think the reason is we arent talking about it, is we had Scion Summoner and that's not played too much right now. I cut it a little while ago for Thriving Rhino .
so we derail the topic into a discussion about my aggro archetype?
first, the archetype works much better with pumpspells than burn, because you can safely attack into blockers, remove them and with trample attached even get damage through. Also theyre mostly more mana efficient. (deal 4 at CC2)
When reffering to 1-drops I refer to everything that can be played T1, so suspend or equipment also fills the curve.
so when the deck comes together it runs
I get that you dont like ogre, but I play him for years now and he was always solid and definitely better than Lion, so whatever scenarios you make up, Ill trust my gameplay experience.
I might add Lotus Petal before I play the cube again as well. What I really like to see is a mana elf that produces R, but I doubt we will get those at common rarity any time soon with the current philosophy of power level.
The Cohorts are run in something like this (far from perfect because of stupid cubetutor ai)
I cant create more 2/2 for one than we got out of my ass, so I have to work with a certain amount of x/1. That doesnt make every one out there cubable. In fact the Viridian kinda wants to die.
When it comes to combat tricks, the opponent has the choice between playing a blocker or keep mana open for removal, you cant do both. So its pretty unlikely your pumped creature will be removed. If you dont have any creature the deck has lost already and burn wont help there either.
Vault Skirge has evasion and therefore works really nice in aggro. Usually you want Moldervine Cloak or similiar in that deck anyway.

I guess so, if those philosophies have an impact on the ratings for new cards and make it so a Cubeable-Staple card is deemed Borderline.
I'm actually enjoying this back and forth very much. But for my 2 cents, I have to lean to Izor. You don't support a lot of aggro, so maybe your aggro decks were worse before they could got going? I've played lots of times where aggro has come out and won regardless of X/1s. It's a valid archetype, that's supported well in many cubes (not just pauper).
