I'm really hoping for an Enrage card with artifact and/or enchantment removal attached to it. Sadly, I think it'll be a rare. And yeah, nothing exciting thus far, except maaaaaybe that non-merfolk destroy card (Though I think I like Ultimate Price more, because of splashability and instant speed, even though it hits less targets).
If the 2 drop explore vanilla is a 1/1 without flying, it's either:
A land on top, and elvish visionary
Or
Something else on top, and a 2/2 with scry 1.
Is a 2/2 with scry 1 playable? I assumed not. The ~1/3 of the time you leave the card on top, you just played grizzly bear +reveal the top card of your library.
So, we also now have Deeproot Waters and Dire Fleet Captain. 2U enchantment which makes 1/1 tokens with hexproof when you cast merfolks and a RB 2/2 orc pirate that gains +1/+1 for other attacking pirates.
I am very unimpressed, not least because we already suffered through niche tribal support with the newest Commander set (which has yet to be included in CubeTutor, argh). There is just no way to port such parasitic tribal cards to Cube. I think this is the worst way to handle tribal support that there is, compared to something like the cross-theme bonuses in Lorwyn (Auntie's Snitch, Rage Forger) and self-sufficient cards which are made stronger by tribal support (Imperious Perfect). Plus, the general power level of non-rares seems very low thus far (even though the sample is very limited).

Tbh I think you need to check your expectations a little. Commander is always unlikely to give us much, C17 even more so, but that's hardly suffering. This year is filled to the brim with all kinds of sets anyway, there's already more cards to test than I personally will manage and we've still got a good four months to go. Even if there isn't much for us (and we've yet to see a significant amount of uncommons) I think we can deal with a set that doesn't offer much without the sky caving in on us.

It is exactly because whenever Commander gives us cards, they tend to be excellent that it was suffering having to see niche tribal cards occupy those precious slots. However, the Grixis curses and blade are still excellent but they only arrived more or less at the very end.
Plus, this season is definitely not starting strong.
Deathless Ancient: 4/4 flier for 4BB, returns from GY to hand by tapping 3 vampires. Too reliant on tribal support and even then, questionable.
Deadeye Plunderers: 3UB 3/3 that gets +1/+1 for each artifact you control and generates a treasure token for 2UB. More general artifacts matter theme but much too inefficient in every way.
Dinosaur Militant: 4/6 for 5GW. Doran, the Siege Tower's effect for your creatures. Thus, effectively a 6/6 but also requires a very specific deck to work and costs too much. Still, the fact that we get an that effect at all at uncommon is a good sign for what they are willing to include at lower rarities.
3/5 for 6 is amazingly garbage stats for something without an ETB.
It doesn't attack well ("ok, I'll take 3") and doesn't actually give you better blocks until after one combat damage step resolves. Like... it makes clogged boards more clogged, but that's not a helpful thing in like 95% of games.

a U 1/1 explore or a 1U 1/1 flying explore would be auto-includes for me, but those are definitely not happening.
Warning: Not for the durdly-hearted!
Perhaps.
EDIT:
Sorcery
Create three 1/1 White Vampire creature tokens with lifelink.
Decent for aristocrats, bleeder decks, etc.? Even works as a filler in BW control as a roadblock that gains some life.
Fighting too much in the same space as Lingering Souls I guess..

Probably good enough in mono-color, but it's a wild miss as a guild card.

Couple of new disappointing tribal uncommons this morning.

It's got some serious counterintuitive/lack of flavor play at times (namely, with first strike)
