I love some "bordeline" nonbasics; Mostly, Panaramas. Now the only thing holding some of these, rather decent, cards is the NEED for Colorless. If you look at your manarocks like Pristinr Talisman, Mindstone, Prismatic Lens, etc. they make just that. IIRC, the design for nonbasics is that "if it comes into play untapped, it taps for colorless".
My point is if these cards are worth playing, maybe some fiddling with your cube's manabase is in order. Or, it might be there.
Stalking Drone is the only one that has problems being both On Curve, and Activated. So it might not be as usable. However, Boreal Druid makes both Snow and Colorless.
I see this as something that will come again in the next set, and it may reach the boiling point, or it may be Allies all over again.
But the next set will be Innistrad. I doubt that there are allies running around.
On topic: I also thought about including these "colorless" cards. And I'm interested in the discussion. I'm not sure, if someone considering these. Although it looks a little bit like a parasitic mechanic.
id love to include them, but its too fringe. first of all there are not enough good colorless mana producers around. so while you might boost powerlevel on the one side, you lose power on other slots. and even if you include all the better colorless sources, you might have troubles including them in your deck because you cant build around 1 or 2 cards.
i can only see them played in very specific cubes which are build around a clolorless theme like heavy artifacts.
Right now, there's not enough incentive for me to include them. I'm picking up foils of the cards you mentioned for the future, but I just don't think that 5 or 6 cards are enough payoff for supporting them (yet!)

Things you may already have in your cube:
Evolving Wilds can get Wastes. So which of these are worth it if you can get reliable mana? What is considered reliable?
