I was thinking about this a lot recently. There are some cards, and some type of effects that don't come in common I would like to include in my what is now a pauper cube. My question is though are they too strong?
I don't want to go full peasant because it would be a full overhaul of the majority of the cards, but something like Serra Angel in my mind would not really look out of place in pauper cube alongside Custodi Squire.
Has there been any discussion in this forum about this?
Other considerations I would like to mention Mind Control - only broken if the creatures it can take are broken Phyrexian Gargantua - literally double of an existing common, Phyrexian Rager Thrull Parasite - dies to literally everything in the cube and doesn't block unless it's mandatory Shriekmaw - Mulldrifter is a divination and 1U 2/2 flyer. Shriekmaw is worse Terror and 2B 3/2 Fear Briarhorn - Earthbrawn, and 1G 3/3 with flash. Nevermaker
None of these seem game breaking or unanswerable, specially when you consider that we allow something that is obviously way better than common Hymn to Tourach in common status.
I also wanted to add more tokens, and a the ability of a real artifact deck to exist.
I think most of those would be fine except for Shriekmaw and Mind Control, which are way beyond the power level of the other cards on your list. I don't think I would ever pass Shriekmaw in pauper, even if I wasn't in black and saw it in the third pack. Mind Control is only slightly less gross because it at least forces you to be in blue, but getting your opponent's best creature is always a sick play. Both are better than generally better than Mulldrifter, in my opinion, because they give immediate impact to the board state and can stabilize you as well as provide value.
To put it another way, I've actually cut both of those cards from my peasant cube due to being such auto-picks and easy 2-for-1s.
I saw your cube Brainz one of the ways I attempted to cheat artifacts in was with the help of other slightly off common nonbasic lands like Dread Statuary, Urza's Factory, and Stalking Stones. I also added Buried Ruin.
The artifacts from conspiracy also I think helped a lot and Lurking Automation and Deal Broker is usually played if it comes out.
The storm cards are kinda difficult, the only one I kept is Empty the Warrens mainly because it can produce value with minimum effort whereas Temporal Fissure really does need some help.
Oh sorry about the Rusted Relic, the one I have is uncommon. I think that one got recently downgraded.
I agree that none of the artifact lands are extremely powerful, but I think they make better additions than say Khalni Garden or Halimar Depths. They just stand out a little more and tend to be more meaningful.
Mishra's Factory in my experience has been pretty good, not overwhelming by any means. Also you got that sweet completely unrelated synergy with Urza's Factory.
