Both or on my list to include once I get around to increase my size back to 360-400. I already run some artifact synergies and these will fit perfectly. We found these trinket-y artifacts to be powerful and fun.
I'm having a hard time choosing which one I like better, but I guess it depends on the context.
Stuff I'm planning to surround/test them with: Trinket Mage, Trash for Treasure, Tinker, both the R:sac an artifact for 3 goblins, Arcbound Condor, etc. I'm at the point of looking at Fangren Marauder and a handful of other green cards as powerful payoffs for these trinkets.
The thing I'm not sure about is whether they're better than the spell based red 'draw' and how to balance the inclusion of both artifacts matter and spells matter synergies.
While we're at it though, any thoughts on the above about imperial recruiter? Do you have any experience with it?
Recruiter has been fine, but fun, for us. I wish it was a 2/2, but what can you do. If you enjoy tutors and/or have archetypes that you want tutors for it's pretty good. Persist combo and sacrifice decks are the main ones for us, with random blink decks with red sometimes emerging. We've seen U/r(/b) Containment Construct/Looter decks with it Palace Jailer is also a baller to find if you run it.
I've liked Mishra's Research Desk in more powerful cubes but don't actually have any experience with it at the Peasant level. I would expect it to play pretty nicely though and would be happy to draft and play it in a Peasant Cube that has a bit of an artifact inclination.
If we're asking about individual cards, I'm wondering how people have found Captive Weird to play. More specifically, what type of decks do you see playing it?
I was a fool to doubt it after the first couple of subpar experiences. It is very close to a 3/3 haste + draw a card for 3 (evening out its up and downsides from there)

I think that the experience of Captive weird is different from the rest of that list because (for a lot of people at least) it's not like you're doing anything with that turn one island. Khenra spellspear is at least close to on-rate, but the rest are
I don't know if this is worth a whole thread, so I'm posting here instead.
I recently came across this Reddit post from u/FlimsyPomegranate331. It talks about the "draw matters" and "discard matters" archetypes in Peasant cube. After reading the post and thinking about my experience in Aetherdrift with the archetype, I went through my list to see if I could make it work. I came up with the swaps below, which I think (hope) will be pretty successful. I like the idea of giving Izzet something other to do than just cast spells. Not that "cube blue red" as it's referred to here in my group isn't a successful deck, I just like the idea of giving it options. I also like that the archetype bleeds into Grixis and Rakdos.
Anyway, here are the swaps I'm making in my list to support it.
Boo you're one of the people who doesn't use " ----> " to mean "becomes", but means instead "replaces". Whatta Bum.
Emrakul's Messenger and Mischievous Mystic are probably the best blue creatures printed in the last 5 years, so it pays to support them. I have way less faith in the discard stuff unless you're at 400 or fewer cards.
Most of the rest of the cards (aside from the discard payoffs) are just good to great cards in their own right.
I think it makes way more sense to see what's going into the cube first rather than to see what's coming out first. Probably because I don't like surprises. Just give me the goods up front.
I'm at 360, so I'm hopeful for the discard stuff. There's also just a ton of cards already commonly ran in cubes that just naturally discard cards. I won't be fully convinced until we get a draft in, but I do think the idea is sweet.

I don't mind seeing what's going in listed first. The part that always confuses me is the arrow (-->) pointing towards the thing being removed. I definitely grok things better if people use a ">" or an arrow pointing towards the new card if they're going to list the addition first.
Point is - have y'all tried this archetype or have experience with it? Thoughts on how it'll work in Peasant cube?
I also saw this post and thought it was a very interesting read and idea. I already include many of these cards but have been thinking of it as a smaller, emergent side synergy as opposed to a more full shift of Blue's identity. I'm going to set aside some time to see if there are any small adjustments I can make to better support it and will definitely be keen to see feedback from other people testing these types of changes. Daneelius (a common peasant-focused guest on the Jank Tank podcast) has also espoused similar ideas about this type of an archetype in Blue.
Oh wait, Daneelius IS the author of the reddit post as well! I knew the ideas sounded similar. They have great cube takes.
I enjoyed reading the article on food as an archetype as well. I like that idea, but I think it takes up too much real estate to consider at 360. It doesn't seem to integrate as nicely as the draw/discard stuff.
I also am not a fan of "collect this word" type cards, especially if it's something that specific. At least there are two broad classes of things called "tokens" for a card like Rosie, or a billion different kinds of reps for things for Builder's Talent to trigger off of.
The true insight Cali needed was, btw
New card <--- Old card
Oh, also just so I can publicly talk more ::turd:: about Daneelius (I assume he'll see this and then possibly argue with me on discord), he thinks Release the Dogs is better than Spectral Procession. Booooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Just posting a list of Alchemy cards and upgrades I wish people would let me play
3 Toughness instead of 1 would have made this more competitive with Zoetic Glyph.
The fact that this sort of effect hasn't made it into paper is a real shame. They know player 1 has an advantage (in almost most formats) and don't do anything to stop it.
"Only once" is technology that they've used on cards as old as Stalking Leonin and they should trust players to be able to track the simplest information.
It wouldn't take much rewording (bottom of library?) for this sidegrade of Impulse to work in paper.
Don't see too many peasant lists running it - but that used to be because it was too strong and warped the game too much around recurring it. Is that true anymore? Is it ever worth tapping 5 creatures to get a 1/1?

I still run it, and several of my drafters like it quite a bit. I find tapping five creatures is more of a constructed thing, but tapping 2-3 creatures that you left back for defense and paying the balance in mana happens frequently. And sometimes people forget that you don't have to pay the 3 buyback. I've always found it to be a solid card.
I was rather amused by Mark Rosewater's accounting of Time Spiral Remastered and why they left out Sprout Swarm:
The design team tried moving the card to uncommon, but it was still causing problems. They then moved the card to rare. It was still causing problems. They considered mythic rare but realized that it was causing more problems than it was worth and chose to pull it from the set.
It's never caused those types of problems for us. We did have a game a while back involving Lulu where Sprout Swarm popped off, but even then, it wasn't a problem for us.
In retail, anything that looks like bitterblossom is a problem. Especially if it can't be interacted with and has commitment issues with linear growth.
At this point in peasant, I would consider a viable Sprout Swarm an indicator that the cube is not as efficient as it could be.
