Dynacharge pumps power and might help you trade up but was rarely more than a 1 for 1 back in the pauper days. It was pretty much exclusively an alpha strike card for tokens. Weapon Surge is a goddamn 2 for 1 machine. Not quite mandatory for red sections, but it's the closest thing to a staple a red combat trick has gotten.

....oh yeah the creature in play is a card. It's still spending 2 cards on 1 opposing card even if the creature was useless on board. All the more reason to play Weapon Surge over it!

What do y'all think about Empty the Warrens by itself? I think if you can cast even one other spell it becomes really powerful, anything more than that and it's stops being fair. I'm talking without storm support, just as a card.
I mean Goblin Rally exists and is not good at all, so I don't buy the idea that it's "really powerful" with one other spell. Yeah you get your 1-mana Preordain or whatever, which is cool, but it's still happening on the same turn with five total mana and isn't any better in terms of card advantage.
I also think you need SOME amount of concessions to make it playable. Not all-in storm support, but the more playable free or +mana cards like Frantic Search, Manamorphose, Dark Ritual, Rift Bolt, Gitaxian Probe, etc. None of those cards are totally embarrassing at face value in other decks.
If you have enough suspend and rebound spells, "free" spells and so on, then it's playable, but it's hard to make it insane. It's not unplayable, provided you have the right environment.
Empty the Warrens is fine in my opinion. At storm count 2 it at least reaches similar efficiency to Hordeling Outburst and Dragon Fodder (i.e. 1 mana = 1 token) and improves from there. It's not necessarily game ending if you don't have at least some support like free spells (including rebound) or rituals, but I'd say it's at least playable. I already run Manamorphose, Staggershock, and Rift Bolt as generally fine cards on their own, and a couple of "free" spells (e.g. Snap, Cloud of Faeries) so Empty is included.
Hermit Druid might do crazy busted stuff in older formats, but for me it's mostly just a draw engine with occasional graveyard upside. And it's quite good at that job.
Basically any deck that wants to get 6+ lands in play is happy to see him. So not necessarily a Curse of Predation deck, but a pretty easy add for any deck that wants a Cultivate.
Yeah, hermit druid is good just at "G,T:Draw a basic land". And it doesn't take a lot of graveyard synergies to get incidental value (The odd Deep Analysis and the like), and of course in Spider Spawning and similar decks it is very powerful.

1. pump board for lethal
2. kill a blocker with something that would have died anyways
2 was less common than 1 so I'll give you that but I wouldn't call it an unusual circumstance to kill something with Dynacharge.

The attack or block is an 0 for 1, and dynacharge isn't preventing that

For those who have Hermit Druid in their cube, how has he been, what kind of decks does he go in, and would he be worth sliding into my cube?
