I recently had the thought that another green three-drop that hits hard instead of being a value guy would be nice, but I'm not sure this is it. two toughness is a little fragile, and the pump... well, most of the time, the creature is just better.
Or am I just incredibly spoiled about these things and should cube it in a heartbeat? It is two solid cards in one, after all.
Specialities about the cube: U tempo, B aggro, R slow-ish are supported. G aggro is not.
Currently trying to support tokens in all colors but blue, in different ways: W pumps them, B sacrifices them, R suicides them, G has decent-sized ones.

3/1<3/2<<<<<<<<<<<3/3
I would rather play Centaur Courser. Trading in combat versus trumping in combat is huge. +3 damage on the attack isn't special. The flexibility of having either mode is only going to relevant when this card is topdecked, or three damage is lethal.
it kinda seems like a green aggro card to me, so naturally not every cube will want it. however, dudes that are also combat tricks are the kind of combat tricks i like to run, so he might just be good as a general value dude. his competition for me is:
Run Gloomwidow! I understated the flexibility, yeah, but keep in mind that neither mode is good enough. I don't want to play Warpath Ghoul, and I don't want to play a strictly worse Giant Growth. I'm never going to feel happy playing this card. It gives you the option to do multiple bad things. Like Gruul Charm.
That makes sense. The difference maker for me is that I can envision scenarios where I feel like I got my full card out of Simic Charm. I can't envision a scenario where Slaughterhorn is going to feel like a full card.
on another note, I'm very unsure of how to evaluate ~Aetherize. Seems like it could be a huge blow out. Seems like it could be nearly dead. It's a weird card.
Slaughterhorn lets you push in an attack onto a board you normally can't. Bloodrush is really great in that it lets you attack into and survive both walls and big blockers, so I'm going to definitely try to include them if they're remotely cubeable. Combat tricks are great, especially when they double up as creatures for both the purposes of cube construction as well as deck construction.
Still, I'm not sure it's quite good enough. If it were a Courser with Giant Growth, I don't think we'd have anything to discuss. As is, I may test it. Just like the charms, it's not worth underestimating the versatility.
I'm pretty sure that having 2 mana spells do 3 things that are almost worth it by themselves is too strong. Some modes either have to be useless (gruuls) or the modes are each below averge (simic)
That's fine. It's obviously ridic if a charm has 3 modes which are all extremely cost efficient. The appeal of the charm is the versatility, but the abilities definitely have to be useful or the versatility is lost. Three slightly cost-inefficient modes are fine, as long as the card has opportunities to be used in most situations for that color combination.
That being said, Orzhov Charm only barely missed the mark. If the first ability was Cloudshift, I think I would already run it. If the last ability were Unearth, I think I would run it too. (If it had both, I would make room for it no matter what.) It just needed a bit more of a nudge to be more than a bad removal spell.
Bloodrush is not good if you are trading one-for-one. Nobody is going to get bluffed into not blocking. That would be bad play. Better to eat the pump spell and move on. Yeah, courser + growth would be really good. Two toughness is just bad beats.
Exactly. Defensive tempo spells make no sense. Still, bouncing 3+ creatures with one spell is ridiculously attractive.
Well, my point is just that it sets up attacks your normally can't do, such as attacking into Calciderm at times (if you have the Ghor-Clan Rampager in-hand) and other times into Convertible Turtle or Errant Ephemeron or Jetting Glasskite. Even if it's a 1-for-1, you're getting a much better mana deal, which frees you up to cast other things too. Overall, it's typically to the guy playing the bloodrush creature if a 1-for-1 happens due to the mana-light costs of the tricks.
Aetherize is bad
4 mana is a lot for a conditional removal spell. Getting 4 mana's worth basically means bouncing 3 attackers and hopefully none of them are 1 drops
The 3/2 I think is more like orzhov charm than burst lightning, because as it was said about simic charm youre more happy to spend a card on a kill spell or a big kill spell rather than a situational pump spell or a vanilla 3/2.
Firefist Striker seems interesting. Goblin Piker plus an upside is always potentially playable. I could see him replacing Goblin Shortcutter if he plays as well as I expect.

Agreed. Goblin Pikers are always worth another look, and though I dislike Batallion in the abstract, this one helps achieve it by negating their blocker that would keep you off it.

My main issue with Shortcutter is that he's usually not great cast on-curve since your opponent may not even have a blocker up at that point. I'd rather pay one more for Fervent Cathar and get haste as part of the package.
I had been playing Kruin Striker before, so maybe she'll get some testing time again.
I agree with Beefy. Slaugherhorn is okay if you want a pure aggro 3-drop for green, but most people also want to support mid-range and ramp and I think it's bad in those decks relative to other options.

Fervent Cathar is head and shoulders above both Goblin Shortcutter and Crossway Vampires because it has synergy with itself. I think I cut Shortcutter a while ago, and Vampires weren't in for too long anyway. This does have potential.

Unmake is my last Orzhov card right now and while it does creature removal better than Charm, it's more expensive and less versatile. I'm leaning slightly toward the Charm but would love to hear other opinions.
I like Zealous Persecution better than the charm or Unmake. Both colors have plenty of good spot removal, so I'd prefer to use a guild slot on something different.

Definitely no Gruul hybrid 1-drop in GTC now that we know all 3 of its hybrid cards in the set. We still have all of the common and uncommon hybrids remaining for the other guilds, so let's see what we get!

borderland ranger
carven caryatid
civic wayfinder
eternal witness
leatherback baloth
oran-rief recluse
wolfir avenger
yavimaya elder
yavimaya granger
and tbh i don't like this guy more than any of them.

Anyways,
I'm probably still testing Orzhov Charm (removal is removal), and I'm not going to test Slaughterhorn or Aethersize.
Do people actually still use vendetta?

If your goal is to push green aggro, make sure you run Garruk's Companion, Brushstrider, Hungry Spriggan, Albino Troll, Strangleroot Geist, Darkthicket Wolf, Beastbreaker of Bala Ged and probably even Centaur Courser before Slaughterhorn.
Actually, a comparison that really summarizes how I feel about him is Vulshok Replica.

Also, AEtherize is probably just worse than Command of Unsummoning. Unless you need to fight batallion.
Speaking of that, I think Firefist Striker is the most cubable batallion cards and will be tested over Goblin Shortcutter.
