Swine is a strong card - Fire Elemental with an upside is playable in peasant, but Gruul slots are very competitive now so I'd need to be at 540 or bigger for it to see play.
regarding the raptor, 1 mana isn't a lot of investment for something that will probably be growing no matter whether you curve out or not. even if you play two creatures over the course of an entire match, it's a 2/3 flier for 1. that's definitely worth it.
Well, if the new Gruul Charm spoiler is legit, I'm at least glad that Ghor-Clan Rampager should be good enough to make it into my cube, because this just looks bad.
Gruul Charm RG
Instant (U)
Choose one - Creatures without flying can't block this turn; or gain control of all permanents you own; or Gruul Charm deals 3 damage to each creature with flying.
The spoiler comes from StarCityGames, and the abilities are color-aligned enough (and, frankly, it's really just bad enough) for me to believe that it could be real. There is no image yet, though, so I'm really going to hope that it's fake.
So, the set looks fine for me now (I'm glad that the first few spoilers weren't actually the best ones); I may actually like my whole Boros section after this update.
Well, luckily(?) for you, it doesn't; the first mode hates creatures without flying, while the third mode hates creatures with flying (and the second mode doesn't actually do anything).
Simic CharmUG
Instant (U)
Choose one — Target creature gets +3/+3 until end of turn; or permanents you control gain hexproof until end of turn; or return target creature to its owner's hand.
Just stumbled across Ashnod's Battle Gear. Hello Vulshok Morningstar #2 (well, sort-of. Instant speed equip but can't equip to a second creature post-combat).
giant growth+unsummon on one card for two mana is amazing enough; randomly protecting your dudes from getting blown out from something stupid is icing. i dig it, but i'm not sure what i cut for it. simic is just so hard to choose cards for...
also re: ashnod's battle gear; you are aware it says +2/-2 right?
Simic charm is no shoe-in, but fair/solid. I'd be happy to deck it but doesnt make me think to actually go simic.
I don't really like my Simic section at all, so I'm pretty sure that this will be going into my cube along with Shambleshark. I'll certainly be testing it.
Im happy with the 3 three drops, 2 lands and a signet. The bounceland could flex out for the shark or the charm if i wanted, or even jungle barrier again. I also think the keyrune is playable if you're pushing ramp. Simic hits solid level with this set. Orzhov needs to step up!
I also wish golgari had 1 more option.
I've been considering a u/g flash archetype for my cube...if that happens shambleshark will replace lorescale coatl...but otherwise I'm happy my surrogate quirion dryad
Sunhome guildmage replaces goblin legionnaire.
Not sure if im terribly interested in either boros or simic charm yet...
Ghor-clan rampager will possibly nudge out bogart ram-gang but that thought makes me kinda sad...I suppose I might list flint hoof boar under green since I'm already running kird ape in red and loam lion in white..The boar is at worst a bear....(chin-scratch)

How can you not be interested in Boros and Simic Charm? They're powerful, versatile cards, so they're good for the players, and it lets you include combattricks and counterremoval, which I think is good for the cube designer, as it makes combat more interesting.
Specialities about the cube: U tempo, B aggro, R slow-ish are supported. G aggro is not.
Currently trying to support tokens in all colors but blue, in different ways: W pumps them, B sacrifices them, R suicides them, G has decent-sized ones.

**some cards are banned. Library of Alexandria, Land Tax, Sol Ring.

They're definitely good, but in my current structure I only have room for 3 legitimate gold cards per guild.
Simic is pretty tight, and I really dig Shardless Agent, Lorescale Coatl, and Trygon Predator. Lorescale Coatl is the only card I see as fringe cuttable, and I'm not super fond of that idea to begin with. The charm is really solid, but redundant as G/U already has loads of pump, bounce, and counterspells to begin with. At least Coatl brings some flare and panache.
Boros has a little more wiggle room. I really like Skynight Legionnaire, but the charm is likely the stronger card. This is probably an easy substitution for a lot of people, but I really like the flavor of the Legionnaire. I could probably be easily talked into making this switch.
I do like that both charms are bonkers with Isochron Scepter, which I'm really trying to push in my cube....so that alone may warrant their inclusion.
Maybe I'll just make my Gold section larger and call it a night.
I was thinking of testing Tidal Wave as a blue "removal" spell/combat trick and thought about making a thread. Would people here prefer a [MCD] Combat Tricks thread or should I do a [SCD] thread on it?

I vote for [MCD] as it offers a chance of a sustained conversation. There are a lot of staple tricks in each color, but I feel that most cubes include a handful that could easily be something else.
Experiment One
Ghor-Clan Rampager -> Branching Bolt
Cloudfin Raptor
Sunhome Guildmage -> Hearthfire Hobgoblin
Shambleshark
Urban Evolution
5 Guildgates

So far, I think that I'm going to be trying out:
Boros Charm
Experiment One
Ghor-Clan Rampager
Shambleshark (Man, Crableg Shark was such a better name)
Sunhome Guildmage
And if I wasn't using rare fixing, I'd put in the guildgates, too.
So, the set looks fine for me now (I'm glad that the first few spoilers weren't actually the best ones); I may actually like my whole Boros section after this update.

It seems weird to put a normally Rare effect (Brand, Brooding Saurian) on an Uncommon to me.

This.
It's like Izzet Charm; three solid effects, but nothing about it is crazy good. I like it.
