I definitely thought someone else voted for timely reinforcements
Just me apparently. I really like value lifegain spells and a 3-for-1 with 6 life thrown own is so gravy. I think people think it is an anti-creature/anti-red sideboard card for control. I happily will skip a 2/3 drop and take 2 to make 3guys and pull ahead again in my midrange decks and sometimes in Wx beatdown.
Another note:the highest ranked pet card was one of mine (Squadron Hawk). A controversial one, sure, and I ranked it 5th.
A lot of pet cards fell into the 18-20th range which I guess shows that as you start to get away from the cards that are just super high raw power level there are a lot of different views for the direction white wants to go in.

Yeah, seven people is not much. Apologies for not voting, but I haven't cubed in almost four months and am abroad, so I don't really have time and tools for providing valuable input.
To somehow balance the effects of this small sample size, why not assign 25 points to first place and six to the last? I have seen this in one of these votings and it seemed like a good idea. The main selling point was that a single voter who puts Trostani's Judgment at one would still not have it outclass Goldmeadow Harrier that's a consistent eighteenth for everyone. That seemed reasonable to me.
Also, Soltari Bros over Pegasus Pair is not what I'd include in my cube, or pick in 90% of drafts. Yes, WW or 1W makes such a huge difference, but whatever.
Specialities about the cube: U tempo, B aggro, R slow-ish are supported. G aggro is not.
Currently trying to support tokens in all colors but blue, in different ways: W pumps them, B sacrifices them, R suicides them, G has decent-sized ones.
cube list outdated
*literal C/U definition according to gatherer
**some cards are banned. Library of Alexandria, Land Tax, Sol Ring.

Agree on all points, and I'll be sure to vote too. That should help out. I've had a lot of homeworks and projects and tests in rapid succession, so I haven't had much time to put into thinking about my cube especially when I haven't played in a while. My times a little better now, so maybe we'll get more responses this time.

There were 6 cards outside of the top 20 with 3 (or more) votes and the highest ranking any of those cards got was 10th and the average was 16.4th. The lowest 2 (in the top20) ranked cards had only 2 votes each but were ranked 9th and 10th on average by the 2 people that voted for them.
If weird things happen in the future like somebody ranking Kraken Hatchling as #1 in blue so it cracks the top 20 I will probably just ignore that person. I'm not trying to nor do I want to filter out results I disagree with but controlling for trolls is a thing.
I also agree about the Soltari Bros vs Pegasi Bros. I don't even run the Soltari Bros. The Pegasi Bros were ranked at 23rd with 16 points. Every person who voted for the Soltari Bros voted for Priest as being better than Monk and they always voted Monk as being the rank directly after Priest.

I don't even mean people who mean to troll, but just statistical outliers. Would it be a lot too much work tomke two lists at the end, one with each approach? It would be interesting to compare them imo.
Soltari Bros take up valuable CC slots that would better go to Knight of Meadowgrain or simply 1W critters. Pegasi are awesome.

They probably might (the 25 thing was my idea. Personally, I'd like to see it at 30 too just to get an exaggerated figure to show proof of concept.)
I'd pick the pegasi up waaaaay before a soltari, especially because we are talking P1P1. I don't run the soltbros because of protection, but I still would take an easy to cast creature over a CC burn spell.
At a 25 point system Porcelain Legionnaire would be displaced in the top20 by Knight of Meadowgrain. At 30 the results at the bottom would be the same as the 100 point system. I think the takeaway is that the cards just outside the top20 aren't significantly better/worse than the cards just inside no matter what point system you use.
Even with using a 100 point system that heavily skews in favor of consistent voting over individual high ranks both Soltari Brothers came out ahead of the Pegasi. I don't even play the Super Soltari Bros because I hate double colored 2drops.

I like 25 or 30 more than 20. What say you?
Thanks for the work
I think the best solution is to utilize both. I'll stick with using the 20 point system for the top 20 but add an honorable mention section for those that would crack the top 20 using a 100 point system. This accounts for average rank and popularity.
The only difference really would pop up in cards that have a middling number of votes that are ranked lowly or all over the place. Including the honorable mentions gives some wiggle room to the bottom of the list.
Doing this check and using the 2 systems in the future will be useful I think. Also when talking about the lists it gives some perspective that while it isn't exactly clear if Card XYZ is the 2nd best purple card or 4th best it is clear that you should probably be playing it in your cube and picking it pretty highly in your drafts.

I think that's a great idea. It gives people who are trying to use this as a guide for cards to include in their own cube or are starting a new cube a few more options.
I have a problem here, Charge across the Araba would easily have been in my top 5 white cards. have you guys not tried this in your cube yet. When playing against white decks its the card i'm most afraid of my opponent having and something i will constantly try to play around if they have 3 or more creatures, that itself makes it valuable in my eyes, the ability to warp the game without even being in it. But along with how many awesome wins it provides i think this is a card everyone needs to try in their white.

I tried it. It was just a win-more card most of the time, some small amount of the time you would sweep for 4ish and they would go kill+bounce and you would insta-lose, another small percentage of the time it won the game. On average it won you a game you were going to win anyway.
I mean obviously there isn't an agreed upon set of best cards. Like nobody ever listens to me when I talk about how insane Flame Jab is. The point of this project is by polling as many people as possible to get a rough picture of what the tier1/1.5 cards in each section are.

I've had a very opposite experience with charge, whenever it comes up it clinches a game 2 or 3 turns sooner than the player would have been able to. not allowing a response to an advancing boad position is brutal. being an instant is probably the biggest factor here. I mean a lot of times it ends up feeling just like a really big lava axe, providing up to 8 extra damage of reach to your opponent.
Flame Jab is insane with shrine of burning rage, I've also been enjoying my syphon life but my black is built differently than most.

Blue results are now posted. Blue is much more interesting than white for sure. More people voted, more cards were voted for, and people were much more split all over the place in terms of what kinds of cards they valued.
Crunching the data on blue was savagely tilting. I may not have put Crystal Shard 1st but why the hell isn't it a consensus card!? Who picks Switcheroo over Mind Control/Persuasion/Confiscate/Volition Reins!? *insert more old man grumbling here*
Preordain made the top20. Ponder got an honorable mention. (Shout out to my bro Serum Visions with 1 vote!). Brainstorm had 0 votes. Even with 12 voters, and even with 74 cards being voted for, not a single vote went out to Brainstorm. Zero.
Blue voting was all over the place between some of us - some value finishers high, some tempo creatures, some tempo spells, some flexibility, some mana efficiency, some draw spells, ect. You know what nobody valued? Brainstorm. There are some pretty nichey cards on the total 74 list (Legacy's Allure, Living Tsunami, Standstill, Merchant Scroll, ect.) yet still no Brainstorm.

lots of people dont run brainstorm, like me, so i don't blame them
I haven't run it in a long time either. That is just my official stamp of ''Brainstorm is bad''. I get frustrated having the argument with people about running it over and over. There were more cards voted on than I run in my entire blue section (60@450). There are *that* many cards that we collectively think are better than Brainstorm.
I think Brainstorm is one of the biggest 'trap' cards of Peasant Cubing. I know it was one of the first cards I put in when I was building my list years ago.

I'm a little confused at one of the comments during the black voting that Ribbons Of Night is a top 3 potential but Annihilate isn't making people's lists. Is the four life and ability to hit black creatures that much better than instant and the ability to hit the green fatties? I've never fit Ribbons into my Dimir cards because I tend to prefer the counterspell and utility type cards (Recoil, Soul Manipulation, Countersquall) so I might be missing something.
And I completely agree with Brainstorm being a trap. There just aren't very many good shuffle effects for it and the tempo decks can pick it up very late. It's like the same trap that drafters see when they pick up Sensei's Divining Top early in my cube. It's pretty hard to abuse and even with the long grinding games it's not going to dig you out of a losing situation all that often.
At least top let's you look 3 down forever unlike brainstorm. And you get to change your mind.
The card overall, however, is just barely worth a deckslot. Sometimes it is well worth the one mana investment though so its hanging on.
I can say that annihilate is one of the few cards I've never tried. Not sure if tacking 2B to terror is worth the cantrip though. Ribbons' 4 life is pretty big, BTW. 3 Is about when life starts to matter when tacked onto a card (blightning)

Agree. Compare something like Oblivion Ring to Faith's Fetters. The 4 life really does make a pretty big difference a decent amount of the time.

Specialities about the cube:
U tempo, B aggro, R slow-ish are supported. G aggro is not.
Currently trying to support tokens in all colors but blue, in different ways: W pumps them, B sacrifices them, R suicides them, G has decent-sized ones.

Every person who voted for the Soltari Bros voted for Priest as being better than Monk and they always voted Monk as being the rank directly after Priest.
peasantcube.blogspot.com
Soltari Bros take up valuable CC slots that would better go to Knight of Meadowgrain or simply 1W critters. Pegasi are awesome.

I'll do a comparison later to see if any differences pop up.

The changes in top 20 were (with 100pt system):
-3 ranks Land Tax
+2 ranks Spectral Procession
+1 rank Serra Angel
+1 rank Journey to Nowhere
-1 rank Gideon's Lawkeeper
-1 rank Soltari Priest
+2 rank Flickerwisp
Out Cenn's Enlistment
Out Porcelain Legionnaire
In Knight of Meadowgrain
In Wall of Omens
Even with using a 100 point system that heavily skews in favor of consistent voting over individual high ranks both Soltari Brothers came out ahead of the Pegasi. I don't even play the Super Soltari Bros because I hate double colored 2drops.

Also when talking about the lists it gives some perspective that while it isn't exactly clear if Card XYZ is the 2nd best purple card or 4th best it is clear that you should probably be playing it in your cube and picking it pretty highly in your drafts.
peasantcube.blogspot.com
I think that's a great idea. It gives people who are trying to use this as a guide for cards to include in their own cube or are starting a new cube a few more options.
A big thanks for doing this, man.

I mean obviously there isn't an agreed upon set of best cards. Like nobody ever listens to me when I talk about how insane Flame Jab is. The point of this project is by polling as many people as possible to get a rough picture of what the tier1/1.5 cards in each section are.
peasantcube.blogspot.com
I've had a very opposite experience with charge, whenever it comes up it clinches a game 2 or 3 turns sooner than the player would have been able to. not allowing a response to an advancing boad position is brutal. being an instant is probably the biggest factor here. I mean a lot of times it ends up feeling just like a really big lava axe, providing up to 8 extra damage of reach to your opponent.
Flame Jab is insane with shrine of burning rage, I've also been enjoying my syphon life but my black is built differently than most.

Crunching the data on blue was savagely tilting. I may not have put Crystal Shard 1st but why the hell isn't it a consensus card!? Who picks Switcheroo over Mind Control/Persuasion/Confiscate/Volition Reins!? *insert more old man grumbling here*
peasantcube.blogspot.com

I know it was one of the first cards I put in when I was building my list years ago.
peasantcube.blogspot.com
And I completely agree with Brainstorm being a trap. There just aren't very many good shuffle effects for it and the tempo decks can pick it up very late. It's like the same trap that drafters see when they pick up Sensei's Divining Top early in my cube. It's pretty hard to abuse and even with the long grinding games it's not going to dig you out of a losing situation all that often.
