Cube Size: 480
Breakdown: 72 per color, 15 colorless, 50 multicolored, 55 lands
Theme: Nostalgic late 1990's/early 2000's Magic
This is a collaborative cube I'm devising with a couple friends of mine. We opted for premodern as an aesthetic choice, to keep everything old border. We are using some cards from ABU/Portal/etc that typically do not fall under the premodern list. Regarding lands, we went for the full 10 fetches and added shocklands because we wanted mana to be plenty while still keeping singleton.
This cube is more vibes based than calculated. Here's a few facts about it:
- There are some meme cards around the cube (Vizzerdrix, Phage the Untouchable, etc) because they are nostalgic.
- There is a little bit of storm support (not enough that it would be a core archetype) because one of my friends is fascinated by it and wants it to be hard to achieve.
- There are 5 archetypes in allied colors (UW fliers/control, UB reanimator, BR sacrifice, RG fires, GW threshold) with a little support to splashing the other colors.
- Aggro is present mostly at white and secondary in red. While monoblack aggro is popular in premodern cubes, we opted out of it.
- There are quite a few build-around cards in the cube, but there are few 2-card deliberate combos.
- Games should go long enough for both players to develop their plan, even if aggro is involved.
- There are a couple of slivers scattered throughout the cube, along with a Sliver Queen if you manage to get value for them.
