I made this cube to give my close player base and hopefully my local game shop’s player base a fun, exciting, never-stale MTG gaming experience. That allows new and old players alike to enjoy the rich history of the game through so many interesting and powerful cards.
Basic Info
Cube Size: Three sections of 540 cards. Divided evenly as 540 | 1080 | 1620 to be used as size varies.
Breakdown:
540 – 70 Each Color – 110 Colorless – 65 Guild
1080 - 70 Each Color – 110 Colorless – 75 Guild
1620 - 70 Each Color – 110 Colorless – 75 Guild
1080 & 1620 match 540’s exact break down of each color’s spells/creatures. Standard or Theme Cube: Standard, but expandable.
Average Draft: Unknown at this time, but when I had my previous cube running anywhere from 11-24 people a week included LGS and Kitchen Table crowd.

Not sure if I will include it on tapped out since it doesn’t suppose the option to be expandable.

A: My boosters will be made of cloth. 540 is going to be black. 1080 is going to be Grey. 1620 is going to be White. I will only dip into each section of cards as the number of drafters warrant it.

if I were to ever get 36 drafters at one time, i would ensure everyone opens one pack from each section.
Q: How do you keep from having too many people having 360 packs?
A: I start by making sure each player has at least 1 360 pack, and red packs are always opened before anything else. I also use all the backs in order of the size first. If for whatever reason they cannot be equally distributed, then anything above 360 is randomly dished out (usually with dice) and put at a seat. When we had a full 16 people, everyone got 1x 360 pack and the rest were random. In the long run, it really made little to no difference in how the draft went.
A: Proxies are to keep what cards I do have safe. They are easy to produce for me and cube is highly expensive other wise and a format that is actually a luxury to play in with real cards if you are using this kind of cube.
A: Well, I started to use wtwlf123's cube. It was 540 and now it's 405. I like his cube because he is the only one who I know with out a doubt will never be restricted by money to add cards to his cube. When I get to the ranking portion of this FAQ it will make more sense as to why I use his as the base.
As far as what stays and what goes - ranking. -------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: But, how do you know from section to section what gets added?
A: That is done, despite a few people saying it isn't a good way to evaluate, but I disagree much more now than when I started. First, I model it after wtwlf123's cube. Down to the exact split of cards - exception being the 10 multicolored section. Only the 540 section has that. The 1080 and 1620 sections just add 1 more to each guild.
For example: Currently in the snap shot I use for my cube in 540 it has 42 White creatures and 28 White Spells. So when I am looking at creating cards 541-1080 I add exactly that many white creature and that many white spells.
I determine what gets added by using a snap shot from cube tutor. I basically filtered down by each section and took the top 400 cards (or in some cases less because there wasn't 400 cards to choose from) and I put them into Excel and just sort by rank.
Q: With this ranking system you use, what about portal or functional reprints?
A: Portal cards pose one challenge. They are generally harder to come by and cost more money. That's why I copied wtwlf's cube because I know he can include them. It's also if you notice some of the orange ranked cards are below green one's I don't believe it is because they are worse, most people just don't have them.
Functional reprints I have to be on the look out for. I edit those to match the rank of the highest one. I had to do this for things like Mistral Charger, Storm Front pegasus, and strictly better cards like Selfless Spirit (though it's already in the cube at 540). It's a work in progress.
A: I plan on updated the ranking system snap shots very seldom as it is a lot of work for little change. But I would probably update the rankings every year or so.
As wtwwlf adds new cards, I pay close attention to those additions. And if he replaces a card that resides in 540, that card will bump out the lowest card i have in 1080, which then of course will bump out the lowest card in 1620.
Q: What if wtwwlf gets hit by a bus?
a: Well that would be unfortunate, but I would have to start being more active and social then wouldn't I?
I'm bringing this back online. It's a work in progress right now. But, I have updated the FAQ. I'll get getting 540 cube contents soon. Working on creating my other cards for 1080-1620.
mean while - a picture of all 36 boosters shuffled. I'm quite proud of how these turned out. And it'll help my players (especially new players) be able to read and understand each card. My old cube sacrificed text for art, which was fine for veterans and really hurt new players.
My goal is to revive cube drafting events in my LGS area. We used to draft as many as 20-24 people every weekend.

Q: How does it work?

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: How did you make your proxies?
A: A very nice printer at work, and access to some seriously good scans. Otherwise, no talky talky about that.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: Why do you use proxies?
A: Proxies are to keep what cards I do have safe. They are easy to produce for me and cube is highly expensive other wise and a format that is actually a luxury to play in with real cards if you are using this kind of cube.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: How do you manage to keep track of what goes where in the cube?
A: I keep track of each section 540/1080/1620 in my master excel list I keep it on my pc, email, google drive, and work pc just for good measure :).
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: How do you decide what stays and what goes?
A: Well, I started to use wtwlf123's cube. It was 540 and now it's 405. I like his cube because he is the only one who I know with out a doubt will never be restricted by money to add cards to his cube. You see, the Orange represents what I brought in from copying wtwwlf123's cube. Yellow is 541-1080 and green is 1081-1620.
I simply went down the list, removing anything I felt didn't belong at all (storm cards, un cards, conspiracy cards ect).
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: With this ranking system you use, what about portal or functional reprints?
A: Portal cards pose one challenge. They are generally harder to come by and cost more money. That's why I copied wtwlf's cube because I know he can include them.
