I played MTG on and off since Unlimited, and then took a long break sometime pre 8th-edition until Shards of Alara. I deeply love limited, but missed playing with Moxen and their ilk. After spending a huge amount of time on EDH and Legacy, I decided to downsize my collection this year. I traded a VERY pimped out EDH deck for the majority of the contents of this Cube, which is now my main MTG collection (I kept about 1000 other cards, one superfun mono-red EDH deck, and tokens).
We've only drafted it a few times so far, and it has been an absolute blast. There are a few special notes:
- if you draft the Squadron Hawk, you get all 4. This is written right on it with Sharpie so you don't have to remember it.
- Chaos Orb is in the cube, but currently replaced with Chaos Confetti until I run out of copies. It has yet to resolve
- there are a few janky choices, such as some of the walls (each color except Red gets a minimum of 2 walls at CMC 1-3). These are for fun factor, and in some cases nostalgia (Wall of Souls being the main one here)
- if suggesting cuts, anything worth over $100 is off the table at the moment. This cube went way over budget and I can't justify cutting any of those cards without playing them at least a few times.
- Emrakul and Blightsteel are both off the table- everyone in my group hates these guys. We have no issue with degenracy (see: Channel, Tinker, Kiki-Mite, etc...), but these guys don't feel like MTG cards to us.
