Venser, for all the controversy, is still probably better than Teferi's Moat.
I'd upgrade Wurmcoil Engine to a definite and downgrade Sunblast Angel to a maybe. Sunblast is really good, but it's not better than Yosei, Akroma, Sun Titan, and Eternal Dragon. If you need another big white finisher besides those or you don't have access to one of those, then it's a good choice. Wurmcoil Engine is a game-changing creature that can be played in any color and combos nicely with Tinker. I think it's going to become a cube staple. I'm dying to get this into play in a deck with Recurring Nightmare.
No love for the new Elspeth? What about Skinrender?
No love for the new Elspeth? What about Skinrender?
I really like the new Elspeth, but I want to try to limit the planeswalker presence in my cube, and between the two Elspeths, Little Elspeth is better. Between Gideon, Ajani, and Big Elspeth . . . I'm not sure. Adding lots of planeswalkers makes me nervous since they can be so swingy simply by existing. How does everyone else feel about this?
Skinrender I haven't thought much about, I'll put it on the list.
A lot of times, Skinrender is going to be a 3/3 Nekrataal for the same mana. Other times it will just permanently shrink a big creature and give you a 3/3 body. It's great, possibly better than Nekrataal. Play it.
I guess that is true. The Moat just always feels overcosted to me. Maybe I just want Venser to be good. I'm not running either in my cube so I'll probably never find out for sure.

Moat is overcosted. So is Venser. But I feel I get a lot more value out of the Moat. I played Moat for a long time, and tested Venser quite a bit. I don't think either are good enough for the cube.
Try testing the Venser. Do a "counts as" test for one of your WU cards, and pretend it's Venser for the draft. See what you think.

i agree with all of this. i think skinrender is a staple.
When I see Healing Salve, I'm often like "Oh girl, I wish I could turn every card into this." Thanks they removed the gain life part, otherwise this would have been broken.
Looks great to me. Other than the Venser, which you can live without.
lol, I knew you were gonna talk about Venser. I'll be sure to post back when I've tested him out enough to satisfy my own curiosity. It may be a little bit though, as I'm still pulling cards together to make this cube.
My buddy has been testing him out a lot in post rotation standard, and really likes him. I just wanna see how he plays in limited. I wouldn't be surprised if I come to the same conclusion you have.
When it works, it's fine. You have targets that function with the blink effect, and it's repeatable. But it won't really happen more than twice or so, before you win or lose. In that regard, it was much worse than Momentary Blink, which also protects your creature from combat and removal, and never costs 5 mana. So it's only okay at what it does, and it doesn't do anything unless you have cards that work with it. Which is okay for some cards, but not for 5CC gold cards. A card that does nothing on its own shouldn't cost 5 mana and be 2 colors. I'd rather spend my 5 mana on Azorius Guildmage and tapping a creature. That's at least an effect that does something of value, and impacts the board... and is a win condition. Venser was none of those things.

So I finally broke down and added Sol Ring. I think it's majorly over powered and gives whoever manages to draft it a stark advantage, but it is only a one of. I took out Ratchet Bomb to make room for it.
I also want to change Blistering Firecat for something less red intensive. I've already got Thunderblust and Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker at (N)RRR, and a third seems too much. I'm hoping to keep Firecat's slot an aggressive creature. Any suggestions.
except firecat only requires RR if you don't have three red available and is FANTASTIC. and it's significantly better than thunderblust or kiki-jiki, mirror breaker. i would drop one of those instead of the firecat.

This. It's on par with Sword of Light and Shadow.
