i was bored so i went through and included fixing in my guild sections. now my guilds are 10 cards each including fixing, so there were a few additions to make.
Cutting lands is dangerous business.
Especially in selesnya/gruul, I don't agree with that. (As I don't bother to see what lands you had available to cut because I'm running out the house)
i cut lands down to two to three per guild plus a signet for those that have two (except for boros and rakdos, they have one land). i didn't think any more than that was really necessary. stuff like snow lands, mirage fetches, allied guildgates.
Those changes seem fine except for Bituminous Blast. The card is just such a house. Power level wise, I think it's a poor swap. However, if you are pushing Rakdos into more of an aggressive guild, than I guess I can see it leaving. It's just so hard to see it leave!!! It's sooo good!
yeah it really hurts cutting bit blast since it really is ridiculous, but like you said, i'm wanting to push aggro more in rakdos. bit blast is definitely not an aggro card, so i think it's a fine cut. if i ever started supporting red control it'd be back in a heartbeat.
i did a quilt draft with a friend, it was quite good fun. very cool way to draft. anyway i drafted what seemed like the nut u/w control deck and my friend drafted a b/g ramp / reanimation deck. he's not a particularly good player so he wasn't quite playing the optimal build with what he got (wasn't running his good fatties or wild mongrel, 19 lands) so i'll post what i think he should've played.
he also had a night's whisper in the board that i think might've been better than murderous redcap or something. but yeah, both decks were very good with this method of drafting, i look forward to trying it again sometime.
i won 2-0 in what were some pretty close games. he had a ton of lifegain, which is never a good sign for an aggressive deck like mine to see. i think i had to deal around 30-35 damage both games, since his nearheath pilgrim did a ton of work. game two i was dead on board to darksteel sentinel that i straight up couldn't kill and peeled arc trail for the win (we were both on 1 life so lucky he did have a creature out lol).
I'll be honest going through the changes I had a hard time figuring out what was coming in for what. I know you have arrows but my brain was like "Nah he's not cutting liliana's specter. That must be a new way to show what an arrow means or something."
did a quilt yesterday, went 2-0 in some more close games. i played an esper list, and he played izzet. the cards were there for golgari graveyard shenanigans but i didn't want to go for it unless no spider spawning or worm harvest showed up (which one did, but it was too late).
i would've personally preferred fireball, condescend, and magma jet in his deck over stormblood berserker, keldon marauders, and hellspark elemental, but that's me.
i finally got to see undo in action, and i was pretty pleased with it really.
i think he maindecked molten rain because he knew i had two bouncelands, which i can respect.
1-mana bounce spells are kinda my jam, hence why there's so many. i like the redundancy of having both snag and unsummon, and silent departure having flashback is relevant. it is easily the first on the chopping block of those three, though, so i could indeed try out standstill over it. maybe in my m14 update.
whitemane lion ==> gather the townsfolk
blade of the sixth pride ==> raise the alarm
spirit mantle ==> intangible virtue
harm's way ==> battle screech
repel the darkness ==> belfry spirit
brave the elements ==> goldnight commander
stonecloaker ==> banisher priest
capsize ==> echoing truth
mind control ==> dismiss
silent departure ==> standstill
dissipate ==> rushing river
pulse tracker ==> carrion feeder
phyrexian gargantua ==> vampire aristocrat
wall of souls ==> moan of the unhallowed
dauthi mercenary ==> brood of cockroaches
goblin ruinblaster ==> dragon fodder
riot piker ==> krenko's command
genju of the spires ==> goblin bombardment
stone rain ==> young pyromancer
molten rain ==> pyreheart wolf
pillage ==> lust for war
avalanche riders ==> mogg war marshal
Changes look good. I love it when cubes move into a clear direction with its archetypes.
Fyndhorn for Mystic seems like an unecessary swap. Just like the modern frame better, I suppose?
yeah i just prefer the modern frame, and don't really want the extra mana dork tbh. i would cut elves of deep shadow because fyndhorn elves is the better card but i just cannot bring myself to cut the promo elves of deep shadow, the card is just too beautiful for words
Token swarms, eh? Interesting and a lot more "in depth" than I've ever tried the strategy. I don't particularly like losing the Harm's Way and Pegasus though.
i don't like losing either myself, but of the two-drops i felt stormfront pegasus was a better cut than blade of the sixth pride, but i am probably wrong about that. harm's way is also the worst of several good options i feel.
Even with all the tokens coming in, I think I'd still prefer Capsize to Truth. Or maybe Snap or something. The other changes look fine though.
i dunno man, i'm just not really hot on capsize. i am debating trying to fit snap in somewhere anyway, so if echoing truth underperforms, i'll make the switch.
All good. I'm still cubing the Gargantua at 360 but I don't think it's a staple.
yeah, again, it's just the worst of good options. i really like the card. it's also in that hideous white border lol.
Happy to see Lust for War come in, unhappy to see Genju coming out. Everything else looks fine. If you support tokens/sacrifice hard enough, does Hissing Iguanar become worthy?
tbh i never got to play with genju, so it was the easiest cut to make. i have honestly never thought of hissing iguanar, but the card seems spicy. it's kind of like raid bombardment but the 3/1 body and lack of restriction is attractive. it also gives me a direction to look for in rakdos if i decide to just cut black aggro support, which is really cool.
Trying to support the tokens/swarm strategy but cutting the Mage and Overrun seems odd to me. I don't particularly like Peace or Triumph either.
i'm not supporting tokens in green. i'm just not really feeling either of the cards, i understand that they're both powerful but like... i'd rather have more archetypeal cards. moment's peace is for dredge, and was an oversight from my modern masters update, and triumph seems like a sweet card advantage machine that i want to try out.
replies in bold for the second quote. i'm glad most of the changes have either gone down well or sparked some discussion.
"i felt stormfront pegasus was a better cut than blade of the sixth pride, but i am probably wrong about that"
I would definitely use a word stronger than probably. Flying is far far far more powerful than 1 power, especially on a 1 toughness guy.

Also, I don't know how powerful a fog is, even if you get one at the low-low cost of no card disadvantage.
azorius: signet
dimir: signet
rakdos: rix maadi guildmage, shambling remains
gruul: signet
selesnya: signet
orzhov: kingpin's pet, signet
izzet: thoughtflare, signet
golgari: ebony treefolk, signet
boros: goblin legionnaire, stun sniper, spitemare
simic: elusive krasis, signet
all the cuts are lands that i can't be bothered listing.
Especially in selesnya/gruul, I don't agree with that. (As I don't bother to see what lands you had available to cut because I'm running out the house)
