This is how I arrived at today.
First, my Magical background...
The players most involved with this cube are myself, my friend Ed, and my cousin Chris. The rest of the crew is mostly made up of friends that we've made via Magic over the years (shout outs go to MattyJ, Shawn, Cope, Cory, and Scooch).
I got into Magic via my cousin way back in 98 just after Stronghold was released. At the same time several of my friends discovered the game as well and we all played casuals at the lunch table or in classrooms and at each other's houses. We also scrubbed out at several local tourney's (this was before the days of FNM, for you youngsters reading). After a year or so most of us lost interest and ended up quitting just after Mercadian Masques was released.
Fast forward to 2001. A couple of my friends (Ed being one of them) enticed me back into the game. I got pretty heavy into Extended (when it was called 1.x) and played a lot of suicide black and 10land stompy. (I'm pretty sure locals would make sure to s/b something for SuiBlack, just in case I was gonna be at the tourneys. I was notorious (and still am) for the deck.) I had some good times, even top 4ed a GPT (w/ sui black no less), but again, after a couple years or so, I lost interest and quit playing. Ed, however, kept it up and eventually landed a spot on the Pro Tour and flew to LA, where he played the wrong deck and got his ass handed to him by professionals. Ed moved away and the rest of my friends had quit by this point as well, so I had no reasons to continue playing.
In late 2006, Ed moved back to town and enticed me once again to come back into the game by showing me that Time Spiral had brought back Dauthi Slayer and introducing me to our good friend Dark Confidant. I was immediately back in the game. I played a few standard tourney's and FNM's here and there. Our buddy Matt (or MattyJ) moved back into town and started playing with us as well. He and I top 4ed 2HG states for Tennessee in early 07. I was dying to build Sui Black again, so I got more into Legacy than Standard and once we realized that my cousin Chris was back into the game as well, we started chilling at his house on most Saturday nights where we'd blast the metal, drink lots of beer and sling cardboard until the wee hours of the morning.
At some point Chris acquired a bag of junk (cards) from somewhere. The thing had a ton of just crap in it (I specifically remember Demon's Jester). In our drunken state one night we decided to draft it. It was a ton of fun and it quickly became the tradition. We'd play Legacy for a few hours and then once the alcohol got a hold of us, we'd break out the bag of junk and draft until we couldn't stand it any longer. And then one fateful Friday, I watched that week's edition of The Magic Show and it introduced me to cube drafting.
Enter the cube...
I immediately knew I wanted to build a cube. We had so much fun drafting that bag of junk, this had to be amazing. I brought the idea to Ed, Chris and MattyJ and at first we decided to just do common/uncommon only and use Evan's list as a guide. So I got to work and we built our very own cube. We used the commons/uncommons he was using and just replaced rares with other stuff that we had lying around and thought was playable. I'm sure it was awful, but it was a ton of fun. After a while we added a few rares here and there and rarely ever removed anything. It got to be a monstrosity, pushing upwards of 800 or more cards. I decided to trim the fat and once again looked to Evan's cube for guidance. So I did and got it down to around 500 cards. Then I found the MTGS cube forum. I posted that 500 card list here and, as they say in the movies, the rest is history.

thanks for the comments and suggestions wermine. honestly, most of the things you said, i totally agree with 100%. it's just that we don't have the replacement card at the time, so something had to go in those slots. allow me to explain...
Saltblast - this could easily be replaced, but it's fine for now. it serves it's purpose. i'm definitely not against finding something better for this slot. Sunlance - i really like this card. it's not a high pick at all, but it's a solid white removal spell. Kabuto Moth - this is another card that i personally like a lot. again, not a high pick, but it's good for what it does.
Cancel - i really like Remand better in this slot, but sadly we couldn't find one. Hinder might possibly replace this one. Counsel of the Soratami - again, we couldn't find a Thirst for Knowledge, so counsel made the cut. Pongify - i didn't like this card at first. who wants to give their opponent a 3/3 beater? well, a vanilla 3/3 is easier dealt w/ than something like akroma, i'll say that. Air Elemental - big flyers is a lot of what blue does and air elemental is just a classic finisher for blue. he could probably be replaced, but we like him. Brine Elemental - i personally agree on this card. the combo is cute, but it's not often that it happens. Chronozoa - this may not trigger that often, but we just put this guy in a few days ago. i'd like to give him a chance before i decide to drop him. Errant Ephemeron - sure it's cube worthy. a 4/4 flyer is good enough, imo. see Air Elemental. Mahamoti Djinn - see Air Elemental. Puppeteer - another card that i feel could come out at some point for something better, but it's good enough for now.
Contagion - this has been in since the beginning. it's not the best removal spell we have, but it can be excellent at times. Grave Pact - i don't like the mana cost either, but when this does come down, it can be very annoying for the opponent. it's good, but the mana cost is what keeps it from being too good. Funeral Charm - again, this is something that's good enough to make the cut, but not so good that i'm opposed to removing it for something else. Last Gasp - it's really an either/or between this and Nameless Inversion i think. Strangling Soot - it's maybe underpowered compared to other cards we already have in cube, but i think it's fine here. Fallen Angel - agreed. Kiku, Night's Flower - slow, yes, but it draws out removal, which i like about it. again it's not something i'm totally opposed to removing. Phyrexian Rager - i really like this guy. card advantage w/ a 2/2 body. that's pretty good if you ask me. Rathi Trapper - we like tappers
Blind With Anger - i don't see threaten as better here simply because it's a sorcery, but this does easily become grab the reins. Cone of Flame - it may not be the best burn spell, but it's still pretty damn good. Fissure - you may be right about this one, but again it's something we just haven't been able to replace yet and it's good enough to make the cut for now Ghostfire - the fact that this card is colorless is what keeps it on the roster Grapeshot - it's hard to draft the storm count, but it's usually at least two or three damage. and again, this is another card that i think could easily come out once we get a good replacement. Overload - you're probably right on this one, but we couldn't find a smash to smithereens. Volcanic Hammer - there are definitely better burn spells than this, but all of them are in the cube already. Mudbutton Torchrunner - this guy is kind of a pet of mine... i expected comments on him, but i really like him. he's not above being removed from the cube, but it would take some convincing on my part. Spikeshot Goblin - agreed on this guy.
Cream of the Crop - i don't know how good this one is yet. we just put it in the other night and so we haven't really be able to see it do what it does. sylvan library is probably better, but we don't have one at the moment. Desert Twister - it is very expensive, but it's green removal and that's pretty good in my book. Evolution Charm - not the best charm out there and could easily be replaced, but it's good enough for now. Utopia Vow - i'd rather my opponent have a BoP than an akroma. Penumbra Spider - agreed on this guy. Skarrgan Pit-Skulk - i like jungle lion better, but not pouncing jaguar really. nettle sentinel may be a better choice here as well.
NOTE: gold and hybrid were once one section and i'm not against making it that way again. as there are a lot of subpar hybrid cards being ran right now in certain colors. but our pickings were limited there.
Scab-Clan Mauler - you may be right on this one, but i don't see a better replacement unless we combine hybrid and gold again. Voracious Cobra - see above.
Qasali Ambusher - we haven't really drafted this guy enough to determine if he's good enough yet. Steward of Valeron - we already have the guildmage in and again, we'd have to combine gold and hybrid.
Augury Adept - he may die before he connects, but i think his ability is good enough to warrant his inclusion. Safehold Elite - agreed, but we don't have a good enough w/g hybrid replacement. Tattermunge Maniac - see above. Kulrath Knight - this guy may come out for the r/b liege. Dimir Guildmage - i agree, but jushi apprentice isn't a u/b hybrid card. Ghastlord of Fugue - agreed, but he was a good option for u/b hybrid and he's nuts when he does finally come down. Wasp Lancer - i think he's decent for what he is, but he can be replaced. Edge of the Divinity - i agree, and i'm not a huge fan of this card at all, but we didn't have a better w/b option in our possession. Golgari Guildmage - i agree here too, but gremlin seems like really like this guy for whatever reason. Stalker Hag - he's included because of poor g/b hybrid options. Fire at Will - eh... i agree, but i really like this card. Spitemare - i think this guy is nuts and if we combined hybrid and gold, he'd probably still make the cut. he forces the opponent to think and i like that about him. Sturdy Hatchling - agreed, but u/g hybrid options are mostly crap. this guy and the other non-selkie u/g option are rarely played. Wistful Selkie - see above.
Well, I was reading your responses to his suggestions and there were only a few cases of "we don't have that yet, but we'll replace it when we can". Most of the comments were defending the card selections you're using, and I was just suggesting that listening to Wermine's thoughts will in fact make your cube better, IMO.
Like, all the cards you defended could be replaced with better stuff.
We'd like to make comments to help you out, but when your defenses of the selections are: "It'll do for now"... it makes posters here less likely to try and improve your cube with you. You know?
caibretto is pretty hard headed like that lol but hes right in the fact alot of the mentioned cards we do not have atm but can be added to a "please obtain" list

i'm not against changing the cards that he mentioned. there are a few that i wouldn't change, i don't think, but "it'll do for now..." seems like a perfectly good response to a card thats decent, but could be better if we don't currently have a better replacement for said card. believe me, i appreciate any and all comments that we get here.
his comments did make me rethink the separation of gold and hybrid. i like the separation, but i'm starting to think that some of our hybrid card choices are just too mediocre to be cube worthy and often end up being passouts or not played at all in their respective colors. i know that often times some of those are the first cards to be cut when i'm playing those colors and that shouldn't be the case at all. if you're in u/g and get passed a u/g hybrid card, that should be a total mise for you and our u/g cards just simply aren't that good.
as i said before i want to make a list of cards that would be good to replace said card. i would say that 30% of our cube could be adjusted to better cards for sure.
i agree that the hybrid cards could be added to cold cause some of the hybrid cards sucks some large donkey balls
also i think that some cards that are good cards at thier mana cost are better than huge things at 7 mana games are boring if u just go to turn 7 before u do nething at all thus why i likeAssault Zeppelid
id love to put SSS in the cube but i would rather cut a card thats worst than zeppelid

of the cards listed by wermine, here is the stuff that i am 100% on board w/ replacing and the rest isn't out of question completely, but i think it's good enough to stay in. at least for the time being.
sorry for the double post, but i made quite a few changes to the opening post and felt it was only right to give the thread a bump.
updates:
added pictures of the cube. a few cards are missing from the pics. they are currently out of commission awaiting their replacements.
latest changes:
-pongify
-serum visions
-fire at will
+brainstorm
+ponder
+soltari guerillas
we also took Wermine's advice and combined the gold and hybrid sections. i think this will make it a bit more consistant, especially once we get the replacement cards that we're looking for. i suspect it will stay this way until there are more playable choices for hybrids.
upcoming changes (as soon as i see gremlin38 again):
a couple of things i want to point out about the changes listed above:
ethersworn adjudicator: he goes in for air elemental. same power toughness, both flyers, adjudicator is easier to cast and is untapable. and he gets better if you're also in b/w, but you don't have to be able to use that ability to make him playable. this guy just seems better than air elemental in so many ways.
aethermage's touch: this seems like an expensive impulse to me and i don't really like it, but i think it will see more play than windreaver or galina's knight in our cube. i also don't really look for this card to be in for very long w/ the release of ARB right around the corner. i'm sure that set will give us some really good upgrades for the multicolor section.
Of those, i'd keep Innocent Blood. Edicts are important.
Yeah, but i think all the other edicts are better than innocent blood.
One mana more to avoid the often serious drawback.
Warren's Weirding could replace it.
Seriously, Korean Eathquake, you're my idol !
Nice cube btw, should be really interesting to draft.
thanks! if you ever find yourself in tennessee, come on over. always room for one more. i'm sure that gremlin supplied us w/ that earthquake. he's all about the pimping of the cards. i am too, but not like that guy.
innocent blood: most of the time the drawback on this card is a non issue. i'll gladly sac this 2/2 to get rid of your fat flyer.
chronozoa: we just put this in a couple weeks ago, so we haven't had time to really see how good or bad it is. it seems good on paper, but we might be wrong.
shaper parasite: uhm... what?? this guy's pretty good. he's blue removal. he can make for some fun combat tricks as well. everyone in our playgroup really likes him.
errant ephemeron: he may not be amazing, but he's not bad. he's a good finisher for blue. 4/4, evasion, and suspend makes him easier to cast.
think twice: i think this comes out for the serum visions we took out last week.
sky spirit: this is another one that i think can come out, and probably will w/ the release of ARB.
esper charm: now that i look at this card, the options all seem a bit subpar to other w/u/b cards. perhaps we'll rethink this one next time we're together.
fissure: a lot of people have mentioned this card. the way i look at this card is it's red creature removal at instant speed. it's red and it straight up says "destroy target creature." you don't see that a lot and that makes it pretty good in my book. other have suggested aftershock instead, but we just don't think it's as good.
master decoy: this is another creature that i think needs some more consideration from my playgroup. i like him for what he does, but he could probably be something better.
and lastly, to comment on the edict argument... how is warren's weirding better than cruel edict in any sort of way? maybe if i had a 1/1 goblin and used it to make two 1/1 goblins, but that's about it. i think i'd just rather run cruel edict. oh and i don't run smallpox because it proved to usually be just as bad on me as it was for my opponent. i often found myself holding it in my hand, not wanting to cast it, because i couldn't afford to lose the land. we may have actually replaced this w/ cruel edict. although i had thought about replacing cruel edict w/ eyeblight's ending.
I too agree with everything on Bondafong's list... except the Innocent Blood. That card's outstanding. I like Errant Ephemeron too, but it could probably get the chop for a better blue creature.
I think everything on the list has another card that's straight-up better.
Oh, and Smallpox is an absolute beating. A land, a creature and a card... for BB? Who cares if it hits you too?
I like Smallpox for its versatility. It can either get rid of a problem creature or can get a creature of yours in the graveyard from hand for reanimation.
I think everything on the list has another card that's straight-up better.
here are the cards on his list that i argued against removing in my last post. i say anything in the cube can be replaced if there's a card that has the same flavor, but is strictly better. what would you replace these cards with and why? i'm open to suggestions.
everything else he mentioned is already on our "to be replaced" list. these are the cards that i'm fine w/ keeping in the cube, but if there are better options, then i'd much rather be running those. the only cards on this list i think i'd have a real problem taking out without replacing it w/ something absolutely amazing are hideous laughter, shaper parasite, and fissure.
Also Fissure should be Aftershock. It hits more targets and costs less.
Hideous Laughter should be Snuff Out. Free spells are amazing, and targeted removal will kill bigger threats. Plus... it's free. You already have Decree of Pain, which is 10x the card Hideous Laughter is anyways. I'd also rather play Infest, Massacre and Mutilate over the Laughter too.
I'd just like to mention that I don't browse cubes all that often - but as soon as I see "now with pictures!" I feel the urge to look. More people should post pics. I just hate going through lists.
That said, the Panoramas seem pretty underpowered. You're fixing looks fine, do you really need 5 more slots taken up by mediocre lands? Also, I though I had a lot of multicolor. 10 slots per pair seems like a lot. You end up having to run cards like Aether Mutation in the weaker color pairs. I would try and cut down some slots in order to boost the power level while opening up some mono-colored strategies.
i agree 99.9%. the .1% being master decoy vs. whipcorder. what really makes whipcorder better? i don't see how morphing a tap creature has that much of an effect. his power may be one bigger than decoy, but decoy is easier to cast only requiring one white mana.
I'd also rather play Infest, Massacre and Mutilate over the Laughter too.
in no way do i like aftershock better than fissure. sacrificing instant speed and 3 life doesn't seem worth it to me just to be able to hit an artifact.
we actually replaced infest w/ hideous laughter just because of the instant speed. i think the inclusion of decree of pain warrants putting infest back in. actually i'm pretty sure i have a massacre laying around somewhere.
i don't know that we have a necro. we might. i know we don't have a bargain. necro is a card that's definitely worth discussing.
props to you for finding a damn good opportunity to use that smiley. i'm fine w/ replacing rathi trapper, but i don't know about including confidant in the cube. he seems to play best in decks catered for him. i would think the life loss would be a bit much. do you play him in your cube? how has he worked out for you?
I'd just like to mention that I don't browse cubes all that often - but as soon as I see "now with pictures!" I feel the urge to look. More people should post pics. I just hate going through lists.

i agree w/ the statement on pics. i'm exactly the same way, which is why i got the pics up as soon as i could. i like the pics just because you get to see what kind of "pimp" people are running.
i agree on both accounts. the panoramas kind of suck to be honest. they could probably come out all together and the cube wouldn't even miss them or those slots. the multicolor is at ten a piece because we had hybrid and gold in two seperate sections until recently. it is a lot, but i like it at ten because hybrid (and split for that matter) plays differently than gold. we're working on getting replacements for the mediocre stuff. eventually we'll probably split the two up again, but for now we just don't feel there are enough worthy hybrid cards to fill those slots w/o running crap.
thanks for the responses, guys! keep 'em coming!
EDIT: *looks around* where the hell are gremlin and stiltskin?! apparently i'm running this thread all by myself.

I had some good times, even top 4ed a GPT (w/ sui black no less), but again, after a couple years or so, I lost interest and quit playing.

MTGS Average Peasant Cube 2023 Edition
Follow me. I tweet.
Air Elemental - I like it because i have an alpha-one and because i'm a sucker for old cards
Mahamoti Djinn - again i'm a sucker for old cards.
Contagion - I recently cut this because it wasn't good enough imo.
Last Gasp vs Nameless Inversion - Same Same but different - doesn't really matter which you use.
Phyrexian Rager - I like it.
Cream of the Crop - Just added this to my cube, but haven't tried it yet.
Ith, High Arcanist - could be ok.
Scab-Clan Mauler - Have been good for me.
Swerve - Are trying this one right now, but think it will be cut again.
Else i agree with most of the other comments by Wermine.
My Tribal cube
My 93/94 old school cube
My Artifact cube
My Hearthstone Quiz App for iOS
Fissure - you may be right about this one, but again it's something we just haven't been able to replace yet and it's good enough to make the cut for now
Ghostfire - the fact that this card is colorless is what keeps it on the roster
Grapeshot - it's hard to draft the storm count, but it's usually at least two or three damage. and again, this is another card that i think could easily come out once we get a good replacement.
Deft Duelist - i chalk this guy up to being a decent two mana drop and he fits into the color category.
Galina's Knight - see above.
Ith, High Arcanist - he's decent, but easily replaceable.
Sky Spirit - you're probably right on this one.
Windreaver - agreed on this guy, but we don't have a Swans of Bryn Argoll.
Dimir Cutpurse - i want this guy to be shadowmage infiltrator, but we don't have one at the moment.
Hellhole Rats - agreed on this guy.
Twinstrike - i like this card more than i like Torrent of Souls.
Wrecking Ball - i think this card is fine for what it does.
Skyknight Legionnaire - agreed on this guy.
Razorfin Hunter - i agree, but there aren't a lot solid choices for u/r.
Assault Zeppelid - agreed, but we don't have a simic sky swallower.
Gaea's Skyfolk - i really like this guy and u/g is about as limited as u/r in the multicolor department.
Jhessian Infiltrator - see above.
Temporal Spring - we don't have a voidslime, i don't think.
Ebony Treefolk - we don't have a spiritmonger.
Necrotic Sliver - this guy is just filler for now until we can get a Tidehollow Sculler.
Pillory of the Sleepless - again, we don't have a Stillmoon Cavalier, and also that would require the combining of gold and hybrid.
Selenia, Dark Angel - agree, but desolation angel doesn't really fit into the "gold" area.

Like, all the cards you defended could be replaced with better stuff.
We'd like to make comments to help you out, but when your defenses of the selections are: "It'll do for now"... it makes posters here less likely to try and improve your cube with you. You know?

i'm not against changing the cards that he mentioned. there are a few that i wouldn't change, i don't think, but "it'll do for now..." seems like a perfectly good response to a card thats decent, but could be better if we don't currently have a better replacement for said card. believe me, i appreciate any and all comments that we get here.
his comments did make me rethink the separation of gold and hybrid. i like the separation, but i'm starting to think that some of our hybrid card choices are just too mediocre to be cube worthy and often end up being passouts or not played at all in their respective colors. i know that often times some of those are the first cards to be cut when i'm playing those colors and that shouldn't be the case at all. if you're in u/g and get passed a u/g hybrid card, that should be a total mise for you and our u/g cards just simply aren't that good.

i agree that the hybrid cards could be added to cold cause some of the hybrid cards sucks some large donkey balls
also i think that some cards that are good cards at thier mana cost are better than huge things at 7 mana games are boring if u just go to turn 7 before u do nething at all thus why i likeAssault Zeppelid
id love to put SSS in the cube but i would rather cut a card thats worst than zeppelid

what i need are better same color options. some stuff i've already got ideas for, but we're all definitely open to suggestions.

updates:
added pictures of the cube. a few cards are missing from the pics. they are currently out of commission awaiting their replacements.
latest changes:
-pongify
-serum visions
-fire at will
+brainstorm
+ponder
+soltari guerillas
we also took Wermine's advice and combined the gold and hybrid sections. i think this will make it a bit more consistant, especially once we get the replacement cards that we're looking for. i suspect it will stay this way until there are more playable choices for hybrids.
upcoming changes (as soon as i see gremlin38 again):
these are the cards missing from the pictures.
-kiku, night's flower
-strangling soot
-air elemental
-kulrath knight
-skarrgan pit-skulk
-evolution charm
-edge of divinity
-windreaver
-galina's knight
-stalker hag
-scab-clan mauler
-overload
+nantuko shade
+hymn to tourach
+ethersworn adjudicator
+shambling remains
+vinelasher kudzu
+moment's peace
+tidehollow sculler
+aethermage's touch
+teferi's moat
+grave-shell scarab
+boggart ram-gang
+smash to smithereens
a couple of things i want to point out about the changes listed above:
ethersworn adjudicator: he goes in for air elemental. same power toughness, both flyers, adjudicator is easier to cast and is untapable. and he gets better if you're also in b/w, but you don't have to be able to use that ability to make him playable. this guy just seems better than air elemental in so many ways.
aethermage's touch: this seems like an expensive impulse to me and i don't really like it, but i think it will see more play than windreaver or galina's knight in our cube. i also don't really look for this card to be in for very long w/ the release of ARB right around the corner. i'm sure that set will give us some really good upgrades for the multicolor section.

One mana more to avoid the often serious drawback.

thanks! if you ever find yourself in tennessee, come on over. always room for one more. i'm sure that gremlin supplied us w/ that earthquake. he's all about the pimping of the cards. i am too, but not like that guy.
some of those cards are on the "to be replaced" list. we just haven't acquired the replacements yet.
fallen angel --> visara the dreadful
brine elemental --> venser, shaper savant
puppeteer --> sower of temptation
necrotic sliver --> stillmoon cavalier
wasp lancer --> psychatog
safehold elite --> kitchen finks
sturdy hatchling --> simic sky swallower
ebony treefolk --> spiritmonger
penumbra spider --> chameleon colossus
to address the other cards listed...
gravedigger: this guy is actually really good. i suppose he could be replaced, but it would take some serious convincing.
hideous laughter: instant speed wrath effect? check.
innocent blood: most of the time the drawback on this card is a non issue. i'll gladly sac this 2/2 to get rid of your fat flyer.
chronozoa: we just put this in a couple weeks ago, so we haven't had time to really see how good or bad it is. it seems good on paper, but we might be wrong.
shaper parasite: uhm... what?? this guy's pretty good. he's blue removal. he can make for some fun combat tricks as well. everyone in our playgroup really likes him.
errant ephemeron: he may not be amazing, but he's not bad. he's a good finisher for blue. 4/4, evasion, and suspend makes him easier to cast.
think twice: i think this comes out for the serum visions we took out last week.
sky spirit: this is another one that i think can come out, and probably will w/ the release of ARB.
esper charm: now that i look at this card, the options all seem a bit subpar to other w/u/b cards. perhaps we'll rethink this one next time we're together.
fissure: a lot of people have mentioned this card. the way i look at this card is it's red creature removal at instant speed. it's red and it straight up says "destroy target creature." you don't see that a lot and that makes it pretty good in my book. other have suggested aftershock instead, but we just don't think it's as good.
master decoy: this is another creature that i think needs some more consideration from my playgroup. i like him for what he does, but he could probably be something better.
kabuto moth: see master decoy
and lastly, to comment on the edict argument... how is warren's weirding better than cruel edict in any sort of way? maybe if i had a 1/1 goblin and used it to make two 1/1 goblins, but that's about it. i think i'd just rather run cruel edict. oh and i don't run smallpox because it proved to usually be just as bad on me as it was for my opponent. i often found myself holding it in my hand, not wanting to cast it, because i couldn't afford to lose the land. we may have actually replaced this w/ cruel edict. although i had thought about replacing cruel edict w/ eyeblight's ending.

I think everything on the list has another card that's straight-up better.
Oh, and Smallpox is an absolute beating. A land, a creature and a card... for BB? Who cares if it hits you too?

gah, so much stuff to take out and put in.

here are the cards on his list that i argued against removing in my last post. i say anything in the cube can be replaced if there's a card that has the same flavor, but is strictly better. what would you replace these cards with and why? i'm open to suggestions.
Gravedigger
Hideous Laughter
Innocent Blood
Chronozoa
Shaper Parasite
Errant Ephemeron
Fissure
Master Decoy
Kabuto Moth
everything else he mentioned is already on our "to be replaced" list. these are the cards that i'm fine w/ keeping in the cube, but if there are better options, then i'd much rather be running those. the only cards on this list i think i'd have a real problem taking out without replacing it w/ something absolutely amazing are hideous laughter, shaper parasite, and fissure.
i'm anxious to see your replacement ideas.

Hideous Laughter -> Barter in Blood
Chronozoa -> Rainbow Efreet, Sower of Temptation
Shaper Parasite -> Psionic Blast
Errant Ephemeron -> Palinchron (Actually, since you don't have Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir, I may put that in instead.)
Master Decoy -> Whipcorder
Kabuto Moth -> Soltari Champion <--- to be honest, Moth's ability is rather unique and white doesn't really do the whole Giant Growth thing much, but with Moth, although it was a first or near-first pick in Champions, the fact that the opponent knows about it does make it not as good. Granted, it does mess up combat math, but I would prefer global creature pump in the form of creatures like Soltari Champion, Pianna, Nomad Captain, Celestial Crusader and Kongming, "Sleeping Dragon".
Ghostfire also seems like an inefficient burn spell given the alternatives (Arc Lightning, Hammer of Bogardan, Puncture Blast, Resounding Thunder) because the colorless thing looks like it will only be relevant in a few situations.
I think that Smash to Smithereens should replace Overload.
I used to write cube articles on StarCityGames, now for GatheringMagic and podcast about cube (w/Antknee42.)
That's a good start.
EDIT: No Necropotence or Yawgmoth's Bargain? Why?!?
Also... you have Rathi Trapper in the cube, and no Dark Confidant?

That said, the Panoramas seem pretty underpowered. You're fixing looks fine, do you really need 5 more slots taken up by mediocre lands? Also, I though I had a lot of multicolor. 10 slots per pair seems like a lot. You end up having to run cards like Aether Mutation in the weaker color pairs. I would try and cut down some slots in order to boost the power level while opening up some mono-colored strategies.

i agree 99.9%. the .1% being master decoy vs. whipcorder. what really makes whipcorder better? i don't see how morphing a tap creature has that much of an effect. his power may be one bigger than decoy, but decoy is easier to cast only requiring one white mana.
in no way do i like aftershock better than fissure. sacrificing instant speed and 3 life doesn't seem worth it to me just to be able to hit an artifact.
we actually replaced infest w/ hideous laughter just because of the instant speed. i think the inclusion of decree of pain warrants putting infest back in. actually i'm pretty sure i have a massacre laying around somewhere.
i don't know that we have a necro. we might. i know we don't have a bargain. necro is a card that's definitely worth discussing.
props to you for finding a damn good opportunity to use that smiley. i'm fine w/ replacing rathi trapper, but i don't know about including confidant in the cube. he seems to play best in decks catered for him. i would think the life loss would be a bit much. do you play him in your cube? how has he worked out for you?
i agree w/ the statement on pics. i'm exactly the same way, which is why i got the pics up as soon as i could. i like the pics just because you get to see what kind of "pimp" people are running.
i agree on both accounts. the panoramas kind of suck to be honest. they could probably come out all together and the cube wouldn't even miss them or those slots. the multicolor is at ten a piece because we had hybrid and gold in two seperate sections until recently. it is a lot, but i like it at ten because hybrid (and split for that matter) plays differently than gold. we're working on getting replacements for the mediocre stuff. eventually we'll probably split the two up again, but for now we just don't feel there are enough worthy hybrid cards to fill those slots w/o running crap.
thanks for the responses, guys! keep 'em coming!
EDIT: *looks around* where the hell are gremlin and stiltskin?! apparently i'm running this thread all by myself.
