Inkwell Leviathan is a nice card to go. It's insane with Tinker, but it's really hard to cast otherwise. Unlike Woodfall Primus/Simic Sky Swallower, it's not in ramp color. And 9 mana is a lot harder than 8.

Agreed, park the bus for Geists. Sounds like an upgrade to me.
Went well, I drafted a U/R counterburn deck, best play of the night was against magnet, where he cast a 4 drop and I mana drained it, letting me cast a chandra the firebrand, kill his llanowar elves, wasteland his sacred foundry, and ratchet bomb his mox. ( I think that's how it went :p). Magnet won the draft, (got me with winter orb), he drafted a sick Naya deck with a bunch of goodies, the other two decks were a five color goodstuff deck, I didn't play against it, but it looked solid, and a bant aggro deck, which I beat because he didn't draw green in the last game.
You should have come! hopefully we get another one sometime soon!

Awesome! I would have loved to be there, but needed to fulfill some friendship duties. You know, moral support and such. Mana Drain is such a broken card, I would expect no less than such craziness from it. I love cube stories. Yes, hopefully I can be there for the next one.

I got cut from almost all fixing (Except a lone Sacred Foundry), so my strategy was to just mess with everyone else's mana =P
Rishadan Port, Winter Orb, Tangle Wire and Ajani Vengeant were all very good to me in that regard.
That game Dumpkins beat me involved a Chandra, the Firebrand who could ultimate 3 times and still not be dead.
Oh and FTK is pretty much the only thing in the universe that can kill Frazzled Editor.
A milestone update today! With this update, I have a foil version of any card in the cube that can be foil, P9 and duals are CE blackbordered. And Any other card I have real as well (moat, drain, ravages... etc). At this point I can finally declare that I have my cube as pimped as I wanted it when I set out! A monumental day for myself :).
I still have 2 more goals I can think of right now:
1. Get all the cheap non foil stuff altered (not p9, duals, moat, drain, library, nether void etc...)
2. Get a damn imperial seal! It's so expensive now it's a goal on its own
3. Keep having good cube times!
Yeah but when you're missing cards like foils of JTMS, Tarmogoyf, Planeswalkers, Survival of the Fittest, Vindicate, Sword of Light and Shadow and quite a few more, it's more like the home..mountain than home stretch.
Edit: Not to mention foil Shocklands, of which I only have one. I think I'm still at least $2k from completely pimping the whole thing. Maybe less.

Yeah I don't think I could pimp my cube if I still had to get those cards now, I picked up most of my judge foils and old foils before the EDH/Legacy boom and they were on cheap end. Now almost every expensive foil is double or triple what I paid for it. I got really lucky that I found and invested into cube pimpage before!
And I forgot to post this since I was so excited about my milestone.
I'm thinking about putting in Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite into my cube, what would you guys cut for it if you had too? Same thing for Tragic Slip. I'm leaning towards smother on tragic slip, but I'm not completely sure yet.

For Elesh Norn, I would consider the expensive spells first. So, something like Geist-Honored Monk or Eternal Dragon.
Tragic Slip could come in for Innocent Blood, Night's Whisper, or Smother.

Cutting Calciderm sounds like a bad idea - not only is is a pretty strong card, but it also fills a big hole in the mana curve.
edit: I really don't understand how people can waste so much money on CE cards, given that they are nothing more than really expensive proxies.
Calciderm was never played by my playgroup, and after cutting blastoderm as well my playgroup hasn't missed em, or even noticed. They are both strong cards, but not well liked. What would you suggest as a cut instead?
And on CE, they are expensive proxies, but it's not like you can't get your money back from them. Considering their value it means they are in demand. So I don't consider it a "waste" since I could easily put them up on ebay and get what I paid for (and down the road even more).
Yeah, now that everything is real or foil, I'm happy! But looking at your cube was what made me want to alter cards that couldn't be foil! I would have been "done" if it hadn't of been for you and your pesky beautiful alters!

Alters do make the cube look so much better though, I won't alter high end card like mana drain and rolling earthquake, and the CE stuff, since they already have a sense of awe instilled in them just by being in the pack. But cards like fyndhorn elves and goblin patrol really need them, since they have no awe at all when opened next to foil goyfs and jaces.

They're made by Wizards, look like Beta, feel like real cards and technically are better and more intrinsically valuable than proxies because they are legal to sell on Ebay and the like, whereas proxies are not.
I wanted the look and feel of Beta dual lands (and other beta cards) for my cube, but I didn't want to spend thousands, and also worry about Beta duals getting damaged from regular play. CE was the way to go.
Also, I agree that Calciderm should still stay at 540 cards.
edit: I really don't understand how people can waste so much money on CE cards, given that they are nothing more than really expensive proxies.
They're printed by Wizards in the same quality as regular cards, so they're much nicer than any proxies that are out there. When you're not using the cards in a tournament legal format, there's no better versions to purchase, really. They're perfect for the cube. Just like all other Magic cards, they have value when you purchase them, and they retain value/gain in value ...also unlike proxies, which aren't even legal to sell. I don't understand why someone who's purchasing the cards exclusively for unsanctioned formats would spend between 2 and 10 times the cost of CE cards for cards that perform exactly the same as they do in the cube, and don't even look as nice.
Congrats on the pimpage, MrDumpkin! If you want to go the altering route but don't want to rape your wallet, you can always take the hard road and do it yourself! It takes time and effort, but it's very fun and extremely rewarding. I started last month and already have 13 alters in my cube for no extra monetary investment.
I'm firmly in the pro-CE camp as well. I feel happier seeing the black bordered, mint, richly coloured CE duals in my cube than I was with the faded, worn white bordered revised duals.
"When I use a word," Humpty Dumpty said, in rather a scornful tone, "it means just what I choose it to mean - neither more nor less." -Lewis Carroll, Through the Looking Glass
CE cards have different backs and corners than regular cards. Even if you can get around the first problem with completely opaque sleeves, the corners will stand out after a while unless you cut them yourself.
Actually, they don't. In a single set of sleeves, they're barely noticeable. When double-sleeved, you can hardly tell at all. After one draft with CE cards in the cube, you'll never notice them.
Time for another soloman draft split challenge! There is never a perfect way to split, so it's always a fun discussion Rules of solomon drafting can be found Here
So, in the image below assume these are the first cards flipped over in the solomon draft, and it's your up to split first, how would you split them?
If you can't see or read the images, here they are in text form:
Congrats with the pimpage - I'm sooooo nearly there myself. I keep meaning to post my pics. I'll never understand the hate for CE - best MtG investment I ever made, and you just know the value will be kept or even increase.
Cheers,
