I made a interesting introduction, might want to read it. Posted on the first page:
If we have an odd amount of players sometimes we throw in Planechase and Vanguard. Before drafting each player is assigned a Vanguard card, known as a character or avatar, this is so each player has the chance to build around their Vanguard avatar. The avatars are kept secret until everyone has finished building their decks and the game starts. Everyone reveals once the first game is started and everyone keeps their hand. Along side with the Vanguard cards we add in Planechase, once everyone has kept their hands we will also flip over the plane.
As suggested by DerBK, one of the most chaotic but most interesting formats is Vanguard Planechase Cube Two-Headed Giant or VPCCTHG for short. Yes I am still trying to come up with a better name for it.
As Wizards releases more Planes I will start drafting the Planes. Alongside each 40 card deck each player will have a 10 card Plane deck. This will help make Planechase a less random and more skill-based.
My attempt at making aggro better but not making multiplayer less fun... good luck. A lot of these cards were already "added" but not really because of whatever reason. Sorry.
If you want to have some more multiplayer cards, I would add Limited Resources(1 mana pseudo Armageddon) Wing Shards (killing 3+ attackers with this card happens more often than you think in 2 vs 2 games)
Are you saying yes or not to Master Transmuter? I like a lot of those cards, Glorious Anthem is heading in soon.
I don't like Plaxmanta, just needed a blue card. Suggestions are welcomed. Probably will have Opposition replace it.
@Master Transmuter: since nobody is playing Elvish Piper, because you are never able to untap with him, I doubt that the Transmuter should make the cut, especially since there are less targets for her ability than for the elf's.
Aww, you had to relate her to Elvish Piper didn't you? Replacements anyone?
My group has been considering getting all the Vangaurd cards for a while to have them for cube. The problem is we barely see them for sell anywhere and even when we do a lot of times it will just be 1. It has been surprisingly difficult to find how many were printed and other information. How hard was it to buy yours? Where did you buy them? Is 8 all that was printed? What was the total cost?
Lastly would it be possible to get full cards scans? I think if my group got a chance to proxie and play with the cards for a while it will be easy to convince everyone to pitch in to buy them. Thanks for any information you have.
Cool thanks. I had tried ebay a few times and had a hard time finding more than 1 or 2 auctions per week.
How'd you do 130? Titania alon is 50.
First off, it was a while back (almost 2 years now) and secondly, there are lots of 'em for under $2.00. I bought the played condition versions of all of them too, to lower the price on the whole order. Condition didn't matter to me.
EDIT: There are quite a few that have gone up in value since my order with this company. I already re-sold my entire 32 card collection on eBay about a year or so ago. Made 3 times my money. :sweet:
Series 1 is by far the most common and generally sells on Ebay for around $20 or so, but there can be quite a range. Series 2 and 3 are a good bit more difficult to find and sell for $30 to $40. Series 4 has several cards that are extremely difficult to find (Gix, Xantcha and Titania) and some that are much more common. It's difficult to assign a price to this set as it comes up so infrequently. All of the sets are hard to find in decent condition as sleeves for Vanguard cards have been very scarce until Planechase and there are no good boxes to store the cards in and most people just sort of have them floating around in their collection. If people are just looking to play with the cards then full Vanguard sets do come up on Ebay about every month or two, though the price can fluctuate wildly.
If anyone is looking to trade for Vanguard cards I have at least 3 extra full sets of 32 available right now, and several more extra sets of some of the series (just not series 3).
This will bring white to 60 as well, now to start purging the cards that could be upgraded and maybe even multicolor. Also happy with this update because it won't be too expensive.
I am petitioning for the end of: the Mythic rarity, the Planeswalker card type, the post-8th edition card faces, the 2010 rule changes, colorless cards that aren't artifacts or lands, the Legendary supertype, the stack, auras, multicolor cards, artifact creatures, tokens, goblins, merfolk, elves, sorceries, instants, and permanents. Basically, I just want to play with purple contraptions.
Copy this sig to join the cause. Cuz, ya know, Wizards makes decisions based on sigs.
This card was added because of the multiplayer aspect of reaper's cube: in a 2on2 game on the play, your opponents will possibly not be able to play more than 2 lands each during the whole game.
What would support Academy Rector more than Knell, Form of the Dragon, and the others I have? I really want to make enchantments better but they're not that good.
Especially in a defensive white deck, where it first acts a chumpblocker. In some cases it's even better than that, because people generally don't want to attack into him, even when they don't even know if you have a moat or whatever in your deck.
One time I played it with my three white enchantment-removals in my hand. My opponent knew I had an Oblivion Ring and Faith Fetters in my deck from an earlier game, and didn't attack into it because of that.
Small update, I didn't even notice neither were in my cube until I saw them in some random pile in my room. They would have gone in sooner if I didn't forget them.

I have, but due to the size of the cards they're not as easy to proxy. I don't have a lot of oversized cards lying around I can use as proxies.

Best prices on Vanguard cards... it's where I got my complete set for just under $130 (vs eBay where the complete 32 card set is $574!).
