This thread is retired. The updated list and rules can be found here.
I idea behind this cube is simple: a cube that's flavor resides in a zombie apocalypse. Flavor trumps power, but poor or unplayable cards are a no-go.
Breakdown (Total 368)
White (60):
White is the second largest section in the cube. It represents the primary resistance post-apocalypse. There's a fairly deep soldier theme here. There is a secondary religious theme as well.
Blue (30):
Blue holds a likely connection with the initial outbreak. Because of this, much of blue's flavor lies in a search as to what went wrong, and a search for a cure.
Red (30):
Red has a resistance theme similar to white. Red is less organized however, meaning it's creatures are more individualized, nomad types.
Green (30):
Green has a love for the hunt. Much like red, it's creatures are small bands defending their home turf. Despite this fact, there are a few that have decided asceticism is safer.
Black (120):
Obviously the largest section in the cube - a full third. In the zombie apocalypse zombies are everywhere.
Gold (38):
Zombie are still plentiful, but because there are six non-black color pairs, I'm keeping this section small.
Artifact (30):
Choose your weapon. Most of the artifacts represent weapons and/or supplies. When you're defending your home and family, all you need is a Trusty Machete.
Land (30):
Some needed fixing and a few flavorful locals to boot.
Fix your card tags so I can comment on your individual card choices.
I love the idea of this. My problem with it is I just don't think it will work the way you want it to. One of the msot important things in this cube (during deck construction) is that you want it to be Zombies vs Everything else. But because of the huge portion of your cube dedicated to black (a decision I 100% agree with) it will really turn into Zombie + color vs Zombie + color.
The thing is I have no idea on how to change this. Outside of having a house rule where you could have one of two decks. A "survivor " deck. which would be able to include any card besides black. Or a "zombie" deck which could only use colorless, or black cards (so you can still use multicolor black cards). But still I don't like that solution because it seems contrived.
Completly unrelated to this. I've been working on two EDH dual decks for the past year. A zombie vs soldier deck. I should really start working on it agian.

Thanks for the comment Pringles. I have no problem with zombie on zombie decks, but regardless, I actually don't think they'll dominate the format. I think the solution is inserting enough hosers that you give an edge to the other colors (White Knight, Stern Judge, Great Sable Stag, Engineered Plague, Extinction, etc), without completely neutering zombies.
On another note, much like in Torment draft, where you wanted to be black, it was often advantageous to force the underdrafted colors so as to not be fighting with the majority of the table. I think it'll take some testing, but I'm optimistic about where this is going.
*Also, I'm having trouble with AutoCard. I keep getting read error - I think because I copied the list from a Word doc. Anyone help me with this?
Very nice. I would build a Zombie versus Rebel cube if I had the sleeves. I am glad you came through with this cube and I hope it sparks interest for others. I imagine the zombie section was easy to build but the rebel section was difficult.
I think Doomed Necromancer fits the theme very well. It's a cleric about to get mauled by zombies. Onslaught art is better for this.
Yes your problem is the fact your copying it from a word doc. It's copying over the formating. Just paste it into a notepad file first. Then copy and paste that into mtgsalvation.

Holy crap, please tell me you're bringing this to the Columbus PTQ on the 15th.
Any format I can draft Pox and Zombie Infestation in the same deck is alright by me.
I'm not sure about cards like Capsize, Talas Air Ship, or Rishadan Airship? Are those the humans trying to take refuge? Or like the helicopters coming to rescue at the end of every Zombie movie?
I don't have all the cards together yet kojiro, but I'll try my best. I'll be in Columbus regardless. I see the airships as sound vehicles post zombie invasion.
Looking over the list and seeing things like Preacher just make me want to build it right now. Great additions in there that I would have missed. Once you're done we all want pictures.
Thanks for your feedback everyone! Fixed up the first post, added banner. I have about 100 more cards to obtain - should be able to start playing in a week or two. Can't wait!
If this were my cube, I would have Undead Slayer altered to with Michonne from The Walking Dead. This cube is awesome. I imagine each game playing out like Zombie movie. I wouldn't think of the Zombies each player has in their decks as something they truely own (in flavor terms only) and its more of a force of nature that happens to work in their favor.
Edit - I think it would be awesome to get a lot of the cards altered over time to include characters from different great Zombie/Horror movies.
Edit - George Romero would make an awesome Zombie Master! This is definitely the coolest cube EVER!
You totally need to develop an alternative style of play with this deck. Like Archenemy. But probably you should playtest the cube first to see how these house rules could work. Like, an alternative win for resistance if they get X zombies into a graveyard, but you'd need to get specific with the numbers to get that X right.

I disagree, I think that normal magic rules are fine. I think the resistance has an upper hand in most cases anyways as they have protection.
Alright! The cube has been constructed and had it's first 6-man this evening at a PTQ in Columbus. I was very pleased to see a wide variety of decks including:
Mono Black Zombies
B/R Zombies
UBr Control
UWr Control
Bant Midrange
Mono White Soldiers
Some cards quickly showed themselves to be too good and are immediately getting the axe: Sword of Light and Shadow and Teferi's Moat. I got a lot of excellent feedback from a wide range of participants. The initial reaction has been very positive and I'm looking forward to tuning and drafting this cube in the coming weeks.
These changed have a few goals in mind as a result of testing on Saturday. First, adding two extra cards to the black colored pairs only is an attempt to encourage a variety of two-color black decks. Second, I am adding several cards that interact with the graveyard (Magma Spray, Night Soil, Mourner's Shield, ect) as this was an issue that arose as a result of black's heavy reanimation theme. Third and finally, black needed better ways to interact with problematic creatures such as those with protection from black, or black creatures themselves.
Let me know what you think! Thanks for checking in!
Cool idea, but it seems more appropriate for a custom set of duel decks than for a cube. You're really stretching flavor-wise on a lot of the cards and I doubt you see many decks without black in them.
I'm thoroughly enjoying the idea - so much that I'm looking into making a list for a Halloween cube. Shouldn't be hard with Innistrad around the corner!
Seems like a Zombie cube would be a place where Glissa, the Traitor could really shine.
