Quicksand didn't do anything in it's entire history of the cube. The Sliver was fine, but it being recurable never made up for the fact that it was a really expensive Vindicate.
Dust Bowl is another way to reward the decks running 1 or 2 colors, or the decks running lots of lands and using Dust Bowl as a spell, while punishing the more greedy mana bases and utility lands in general.
Desolation Angel may not be needed since the cube has plenty of finishers, but I was finally convinced when I saw this play the other day: Cataclysm + Tombstalker. That player went on to win that game, in case that wasn't obvious.
Good changes. Desolation Angel is like a broken 2-card combo... all on it's own.
Did a couple drafts the other day, it didn't get played, but at least everyone in the group sees the potential for awesomeness.
On another note, Forbid finally earned its keep. Not that it hadn't already been ok, with a player buying it back a couple times, but it finally came into its own two days ago. I was playing UG Lands Go and I got a Forbid + Loam lock and started beating down with a Sowered Wild Mongrel and Treetop Village. It was hot.
Pretty major changes in the making. I've still got a fairly large shopping list of realistically attainable cards(40 something), but I'm slowly but surely aquiring what I want. I felt the cube needed a reduction despite it being able to sustain the odd number of 11, but there were a few cards that I kinda cringed to see in a pack even if a couple of my buddies(who aren't exactly pros) like them.
If you notice, I've cleaned it up a little bit by moving cards like Kird Ape to multicolor rather than just looking at their mana costs.
Really sad about dropping Branching Bolt, but that could just be my memories from how good it was in normal draft. It has actually been pretty fantastic lots of times, but it's probably the weakest rg card as that color combo is pretty stacked.
I really wanted Temporal Aperture to do something because it's a strange effect and it's slow enough that I could table it with most of the people I play with. The problem is that even when I did draft it(only once) it didn't make my 40. I guess I'll have to stick with Urza's Factory for painfully slow(although very good) ways of generating advantage.
The goal with blue is to make a lot of the early blue creatures and effects tempo orientated, while the steeper end stuff is usually the end game bombs that control decks like to play or it's a high end finisher to a more aggressive deck.
I tried to make Black like I did White, with it being able to go aggro or control somewhat easily. The Stax effects are generally replaced with Discard or some other form of black disruption.
Red isn't quite where I want it yet. I really want it a little more aggro than control, but I think it's opposite right now. Or at least, I haven't seen anyone play an aggressive, predominately red deck, which should happen more often, I think.
Edit: Red is looking a lot stronger and a lot faster, which is what I'm aiming for. There are still a few stinkers, but the pool has improved massively.
I tried to make Green a utility and fat color primarily, but it certainly has its aggro cards to add to the mix. It has the most high-end creatures but it also the only non artifact mana ramp and plenty of it, imo, so that hopefully evens it out.
I've wanted a Necro, Suvival, and Mom for so long. Now I have them. Kinda iffy on Ring of Gix, but it's surely better than Trip Noose. Carrion Feeder was never any good, I just couldn't get a Sarcomancy, but Nighthawk was on the list of wants too and it doesn't really mess with black's curve. Jaya Ballard never did anything good and rarely made it into someone's 22-24 playables--good riddance.
Necropotence isn't any harder to cast than Future Sight, except that blue is in the color of card drawing, but I think that's really reaching to not include it. I mean, it's probably in the top 10 most powerful cards for each cube it's in. Besides, my group has a least a couple of us that seem to make Cruel Ultimatum work. Trip black don't scare us.
I don't really care for the Hydras that much either, but there are a few people in the playgroup who like them. This one is a lot better at least.
It's a lot harder to cast than Future Sight. A card designed to cost 5 with triple color is a lot easy to play than a card that costs 3 and has triple color mana. Having BBB available by turn 3 only happens in a mono-black deck. Having BBB available in a 2-3 color deck may not happen until turn 5 or 6. By that time, you could cast Yawgmoth's Bargain and get an effect that's worth the 6 mana vs playing the Necro late in the game. Future Sight's mana becomes available at turn 5-6, so it's played on schedule. Necro gets resolved 3 turns behind schedule for a card that costs 3 mana.
I would argue that Necro is way more powerful than Future Sight. I mean, I certainly think it's worth the wait to not be able to play it turn 3 most games...

The only change I don't like here is Hydra in and Dawn out. Dawn is really, really good in 3+ color decks. Hydra is interesting and fun, but not that strong, IMO.
Necro is busted in half, but you should realize it will go 12th-15th pick in some drafts because no one is in heavy black.
I would argue that Necro is way more powerful than Future Sight. I mean, I certainly think it's worth the wait to not be able to play it turn 3 most games...
Necro is a fine card. But it's nowhere close to Future Sight. It's also competing against some stiff competition in black, and is in direct redundant competition with an almost strictly better black card. I played Necro for a long time, but it got cut. Black has better draw spells nowadays, and BBB is really rough.
It's still an upgrade from il-gotten gains though, so no worries. I like the update a lot.
Ring of Gix is strong, but I really like Trip Noose as well. I think you should run Icy, Ring, and Noose. You have a TON of artifact acceleration! I would cut one of those before Trip Noose.
Jaya Ballard has been fine for us. After one turn she is pretty useful, giving you Incinerates at will.
I think Necro is more powerful than Future Sight, which has been extremely meh here and is probably on it's way out. And in no way is Necro harder to cast than Future Sight, they are both triple mana colors and have different CMC. Turn 5 Necro is just as hard as turn 5 future sight. If future sight was UUU it would be as hard to cast as Necro on turn three...and besides, Necro on turn three is awful anyways.
The earlier the Necro, the better. Keep a full hand throughout the game. T1 Dark Ritual Necropotence is still one of the best plays in Magic. Future Sight has led to basically playing 2-3 extra cards per turn. So good.
It depends on how fast your cube is and what decks Necro sees play in. In the black aggro decks Necro is good earlier. Since our cube isnt powered the decks are slower, and the aggressive black decks cant drop their hand that quickly. Also, we havent seen Necro in a black aggro deck yet. Usually we see it in B/W control decks as a big card advantage engine lategame since the control decks usually have quite a few cards in their hand anyways throughout the game. Pulse of the Fields and Necro is our favorite combination.
Just another example of different cube experiences. I actually came back on here to edit my post because "Necro on turn three is awful" is a pretty bold statement that may only be true for our cube.
We dont like tapping out on our own turns with the blue control decks (unless it's for a finisher) hence the distaste towards Future Sight.
Also thinking about dropping Coldsteel Heart for Trip Noose, because HotShot is right, I have a ton of artifact mana. I generally like having at least a couple of 2cc mana artifacts in my deck, but maybe I have too many?
I just run the Signets and Coalition Relic. Those, along with the green mana acclerators, have been more than enough for us. Too much colorless acceleration helps the control decks too much.
Total upgrades.
Planeswalkers win games and Albino Troll is an excellent creature for both aggro and midrange decks alike.

Yessssssssssss. I was pretty excited about Chandra; now I only need Elspeth or Ajani Goldmane and each color will have access to a PW.
Another minor update: - Akrasan Squire, - Stonecloaker, - Parallax Tide - Knollspine Invocation, + Steppe Lynx, + Soltari Trooper, + Force Spike, + Fireblast
So, the cube is getting to the point where it looks like a lot of other cubes and I expect this thread to get less traffic as a result.
Pauper Cube
I cube, I play EDH, and I can't afford Legacy. The other formats can suck it.
Don't take that as a bad thing. If people aren't telling you that you should change things, then there's probably not much that needs changing.
