Bitterblossom has been showing its age for a while now and this is a way make it more palatable to 2025 mtg - just put a body on it! A very fragile body sure but it can attack a turn earlier and, very importantly, has flash. Double coloured pip is a relevant downside too.

The second black pip is really tough, but let's be honest...I will cube this card and nothing can stop me.

How does this stack up against sinkhole surveyor? I do like all this sacrifice fodder.

I'm considering keeping both and testing Cabal Therapy.

I think I prefer Surveyor because of the mana cost. This looks like a better card in a tempo shells but requires leaving BB open instead of counterspell mana... I'm not so sure.

I actually cut Bitterblossom for Sinkhole Surveyor, which seems better than Bitterbloom Bearer to me. Even so, I'll be tempted to try it, it's a cool card. The double pip cost is a bit of a bummer though.

I'll always approve of more 2 mana token producers as I support tokens and aristocrats. Will run this for sure.

Love that this can be a late game flashed in blocker. Double pips are tough, but this has plenty of power. No clue what to cut though.

I don't think it makes the cut for us. The double pip mana cost and frail body make this not necessarily better than Bitterblossom, which we (sadly) cut a while ago.

Being BB, not sure if better than Bloodghast or Dauthi Voidwalker?

Quite annoyed that the tokens are not black Fairie Rogues, so you need another set of tokens for this card.

I really enjoy this kind of callback to old staples, with a similar effect at today’s power level.

Maybe Lorwyn Eclipsed will also bring an update to reanimator staple faerie Oona's Prowler? I still cube it as a free repeatable instant-speed discard outlet with power and toughness, alongside Noose Constrictor, Olivia's Dragoon, and of course the best version of this effect Psychic Frog.

In my cube, black has by far the most color intensive casting costs at low mana values with cards like the aforementioned Dauthi Voidwalker and Bloodghast, but also stuff like Hymn to Tourach and Vampire Hexmage. Aside from Dark Ritual and maybe Cabal Ritual, I don't have any better ways to cast those than the other colors have. With this now, maybe it is time to add in Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth or some of the black filterlands like Graven Cairns.

I think the upside here makes this slightly better than Bitterblossom.
Both are getting borderline at 360 powered though so not sure if I'll play it.

I probably wouldn’t make room for this even if it were 1B casting cost. It’s all been covered in comments thus far, but this thing just is too fragile and doesn’t do enough in 2025. Maybe there’s a stax or aristocrats archetype that could use it, but those type of cards have been feeling slower.

Resolute Reinforcements x Bitterblossom? Yeah, I'm going to play that. BB is restrictive, but this is a 2-MV must-kill creature with Flash we're talking about here--not every card can be Orcish Bowmasters. Bitterblossom may have seen better days, but Bitterbloom Bearer looks poised to carry on its legacy.

You dont have to run much to make this good. Skullclamp, Yawgmoth, Fiend Artisan, and Sephiroth. The casting cost is restrictive. This card is fine outside of cubes running full power, consultation combo, and Initiative.

I've noticed that Wizards has been aggressively pushing the strength of its 2-drops, especially the ones in Mardu Colors.

My understanding is no matter how pushed cards like Orcish Bowmasters / Ajani, Nacatl Pariah / Phelia, Exuberant Shepherd are, Modern/ Legacy have a safety valve in the form of Spell Snare / Lightning Bolt etc. AND these decks are historically weak to either combo / big mana decks.

The concern I have is this is going to continue to upgrade the Mardu aggro decks while providing fewer upgrades for the rest of the format.
