Silent Hallcreeper seems like a fun card, with a lot of skill-testing choices and potential value for only two mana. It's templated like Henrika Domnathi // Henrika, Infernal Seer, where you get each option once, and you will choose different orders depending on the board state, until you choose the final option that transforms Silent Hallcreeper into something else. Over 3 turns, choosing counters -> draw -> clone lets you get in for 7 unblockable damage. Notably, if you choose the +1/+1 counters before the clone, the clone keeps the +1/+1 counters.
Unlike other one-sided clones, you can play Silent Hallcreeper on an empty board on turn 2, with a plan to choose clone mode much later after you play your big creature. While cloning this into something bigger is usually an upside, the one potential downside is that when it hits for the third time, if you've already drawn the card and added the counters, you're forced to change this into a copy of another creature you control making it lose unblockable. If you control no other creatures when the clone trigger resolves, the clone trigger will fizzle but that option will still have been chosen, making this remain a 3/3 unblockable Silent Hallcreeper forever -- which is actually still pretty great considering this also drew you a card and only cost two mana.
(I love this card, but I may have constellation-tinted glasses about enchantment creatures because I want to add more support for the enchantress theme, goyfs, and other delerium-style cards)
I really like the value here. I suspect it's too slow and fragile, but if you get to hit once with this it replaces itself and it only gets better from there.
Horrendous if you're behind though, and terrible against PWs until it's been able to hit a player.
Definitely good, but has a mountain of competition with all the great 1U creatures running around these days. It takes a minimum 3 hits to outrace something like Malcolm, and it will eventually lose being unblockable once it copies something else. Drawing a card is nice, but not looting also means that this isn't a good roleplayer for reanimator like all its other siblings are.
I find creatures which are bad on defense to be such a liability nowadays, and doubly so for blue creatures which are most likely to be on the receiving end of aggression. I'm also not a fan of a clone effect that can't copy ETBs, though this does curve wonderfully into Tinker. But that's such a niche scenario for a deck that really doesn't need any more help, so my original points stand.
Love this card. Happy to have a solid value creature that isn't just another looter of some sort. Happy for the diversity this gives the slot. Will find room to test.
