New Thragtusk variant! This has better stats all around + blitz in exchange for gaining less life and demoting the leaves the battlefield trigger to a death trigger. Personally I like Thragtusk more since it's better at stabilizing your life total + it having a leaves the battlefield trigger is so much more powerful with blink effects and against exile / bounce. I don't think I need two Thragtusks like I have two squirrel hermits, but this is a solid option if you're looking for more redundancy / stabilizers against aggro.
If you support blink, this is clearly worse than tusk. If you tend to just run tusk as a fair card, this might be better - slightly harder to cast (but probably irrelevant most of the time when you hit 5 mana, except in cases where you're splashing tusk), gains you less life, but is better at attacking and leaves behind a WAY better body (a 4/4 is so much better than a 3/3). I'll need to think about this one, but swapping it for tusk doesn't seem crazy (nor does running both).
I think the blitz text is basically a blank on this, as I can't imagine many situations where you'd want to pay an extra mana to get the card and the 4/4 now versus having this in play.
Agreed with Steve_man, I value the stabilizing effect and the blink synergy a good deal more than trample and the added stats (maybe if the stats went on the main body...) If there were more decks in my cube which could take advantage of Workshop Warchief's aggressive bent, I could definitely see myself running it alongside Thragtusk, but I don't see it as a replacement to the OG.
Interesting... I found that thragtusk has aged poorly as a generic good card, but it's still great for it's blink synergy and it's anti-agro tech.
This is a little bit better as an agressive threat, but much worse at anti-agro/blink.
Don't think I'm interested in this card, but may test it out for variety... Maybe the blitz plays out better than I expect?
If you really want more anti-agro cards that are playable outside of the sideboard, this is reasonable. I think I prefer elder gargaroth in that role though.

Workshop Warchief
+ Trample
+ Blitz (haste)
Thragtusk
+ Splashable
+ Works with blink / against exile
Still going for Thragtusk due to blink/splash but Warchief is a decent upgrade. Im my opinion, though, is just a sideways upgrade.
