Pia Nalaar hasn't been seen since Rise of the Rabblemasters, but Breya's Apprentice compares favorably enough to pique my interest. The extra toughness is a pretty big boon, as is the ability to turn your artifact tokens into card advantage. But the biggest draw is the apprentice being an artifact itself. It can sacrifice itself to its own ability, and it plays wonderfully with Goblin Engineer. It's a shame that Red 3's are so stacked, as I think Breya's Apprentice can put in a lot of work for Red artifact decks.
Feels like this needed modular or something to push it a bit more. As it stands I think I may still try it - I run a deeper artifact theme than most. But I don't expect it to be as versatile as Pia Nalaar due to the tap cost. Will have to see if the interaction added by being an artifact makes up for it.
