Equipped creature has Protection from Green and White
Whenever equipped creature deals combat damage to a player, exile target? creature you control, search your library for a basic land then place those cards on to the battlefield.
Some thoughts, you can blink Stoneforge Mystic to find another equipment or get value off of pretty much all ETB creatures. The basic land fetching is OK.
I feel this is one of the mid tier swords, but still very cool.
White and green have the most creatures / token producers, so this sword gives you the most evasion. The blink effect is pretty easy to abuse and ramping is always nice, especially if you're short on lands. You can give your creature pseudo-vigilance by blinking it. The sword ramping you means the cost to re-equip is essentially 1 mana.
Feels pretty meh on the sword scale, and I'm already down to running 2.
Think I'd rank fire and ice, body and mind, sinew and steel, feast and famine, and probably truth and justice all above it. White and green is probably also the color pair that interacts with the lowest number of relevant spells.
MID
- Everything else besides Sword of War and Peace
BOTTOM
- Sword of War and Peace
This providing blink archetype support for those who run it as a full-blown archetype is a strong point in favor for this sword though. It's hard to find good blink support cards that aren't super narrow.
Tier 2:
Body and Mind
Sinew and Steel
Feast and Famine
Tier 3:
Light and Shadow
Truth and Justice
Tier 4:
War and Peace
We currently play tiers 1 and 2 in powered 720. I think this is probably a tier 3 sword which means we won't run it. I really wish you could get any land, as the ability to fetch out a manland for an additional threat would make a massive difference with this sword...
Tier 1: UR and GB
Tier 2: WB
Tier 3: UG, BR, UW, WR
I think this could end up in tier 2. It’s got the two best colors for creature combat and the triggers can be extremely good (rather high variance though).

I primarily play limited, so most of my spoiler season comments view cards through that lens.

I'm actively maintaining a comprehensive article to help explain to new cube players how some complex vintage level cards work in a cube environment. Vintage Cube Cards Explained
I feel obligated to run this because my cube has a Blink archetype, but these are NOT the effects I want from a Sword. In order to get value out of the Blink effect, you either need to have a creature equipped with a Sword plus a good blink target all on the field at once, or you need the creature equipped with the Sword to have a good ETB effect and accept that you'll have to re-equip the Sword again. As for the ramp effect, you're incentivized to trigger it early, before you have enough mana to both cast and equip the Sword on the same turn. The problem is doing so is a huge tempo sink, and it makes the odds that you will have a good Blink target even worse. Once you have the mana needed to cast and equip the sword in the same turn, the ramp becomes far less valuable. And all of this is assuming you can even hit the opponent. So in summary, each of Sword of Hearth and Home's triggered abilities are only good in very narrow circumstances, with almost no overlap between them. This seems like the 2nd worst Sword after Sword of War and Peace, and at least SoWaP has prote-Red.
I agree that the value generated by this card on contact is a bit inconsistent and not competitive with the best swords.
What makes the card appealing is it has protection from the two most creature heavy colors in the cube... and blinking stuff is fun =D
The blinking + ramping also makes the sword stronger on defense. Attack with a creature, blink it, re-equip sword to the attacker who's now untapped for just 1 mana.
Might test it out, but at the moment the only sword I really like is SoFaI.
