Prismatic Ending is pretty clearly worse imo, you need to be paying 200% more mana (and more importantly, 200% more colors) before you get new targets.
It is nice not to have to worry about the target coming back of course, but Ending can never trade up in mana (aside from hitting X spells and tokens and such, which hole is also great against) whereas sniping a 2 drop for one mana is a big psrt of the attraction here.

I primarily play limited, so most of my spoiler season comments view cards through that lens.
On a tangential note regarding efficiency of comparable spells, I think describing 2 mana as being "twice as much" as 1 mana is a fallacious metric, and unhelpful. Yes it's mathematically accurate, but its misleading. All other mana disparities in the game that can be measured as "twice as much mana" are describing a higher amount of mana than 1. It's really just a matter of "1 mana more". Just an uber nitpick. Portable hole is 1 mana cheaper than Prismatic End when killing 2 CMC things, without flexibility at higher costs, and that's really what matters here. I think Prismatic End is a really interesting 5-color slot card, but if you are slotting it in white in a powered cube, I'd go with Portable Hole.

Strongly disagree. It is actively helpful to describe 2 vs 1 as “twice as much” instead of “one more” because it’s a much more significant different than 2 vs 3, 3 vs 4, etc

I am not sure is the difference between 1 and 2 is greater than 3 vs 4.
For example, 6 vs 7 is a very big difference since even decks with lots a mana / lands, it can often take 2 or more turns to draw the extra land to hit 7 vs 6. At the same time the difference between 1 and 2 mana is also a big deal since at 1 mana you can effectively go turn 1, 1 drop, turn 2 this and another 1 drop. I think it really comes down to the types of decks. Tempo decks love this way more. control decks probably don't care about the mana of 1 vs 2 but probably want less temporary effects with their removal. It probably comes down to what your cube needs, but I find non red aggro difficult to support and so I would be more inclined to run this.
