Vampiric Tutor is certainly an upside. If you attack once, you get your value, and golly the value's grand! Nowadays a 2/3 deathtouch isn't what it once was, but it's still respectable. It's always nice to trade up.
Where would one want to play this card?
It's not aggressive, since you lose a lot of tempo investing 2 Mana on turn 4 for no immediate payoff - it's not really helping control vs aggro, since you wouldn't want to disable a blocker.
Midrange? Or control mirror?
