Basri's Lieutenant 3W
Creature - Human Knight
Vigilance, protection from multicolored
When Basri's Lieutenant enters the battlefield, put a +1/+1 counter on target creature you control.
When Basri's Lieutenant or another creature you control dies, if it had a +1/+1 counter on it, create a 2/2 white Knight creature token with vigilance.

This card is good. If you support a +1/+1 theme in your cube, this card is amazing! Curving this into a Wildfire is glorious (Edit: Wildfire is 6 but you get the idea)! This card also makes all the Metallic Mimic variants that much better! If you set up your persist combo with two Mimic/Good-Fortune Unicorn effects in play, you get an infinite army (a bit of a stretch yet possible.) (Edit: See #3 for better approach ) Aristocrats can make good use of this effect. I'm pretty sure there are still many more applications/combos/shenanigans that benefit from the ETB, the trigger or both! Not to mention it can do just fine on its own.
The question for almost every cube card nowadays is can this compete for a slot?
On it's own, it's a 4/5 vigilance with protection from multicolor that creates a 2/2 vigilance creature when it dies ...for 3W. That's a good deal. And it has a lot of synergy with other +1/+1 counter creatures/effects in the cube, and there's lots of those. I might try and figure out a way to test this out, we'll see.
I think this is a sac-outlet combo with the Unicorn effects on its own. This creature + a Good-Fortune Unicorn effect + a sac outlet gives you infinite sacrifice triggers, since the Lieutenant gives you the new 2/2, and the Unicorn effect will add a +1/+1 counter to it... Now I'm definitely going to figure out how to get this into the cube!
You only need one mimic/unicorn/grumgully/renataa and another card with a +1/+1 counter to go off (as a knight token with the counter dying gives you another knight token with a counter).
This is basically another Kitchen Finks... kind of. It costs more, Requires white mana, and needs an extra body on the board to go infinite... and gives you no big extra bonuses beyond what the sac outlet gives you (no gaining life with finks or damaging with redcap).
On the other hand, this goes well in +1/+1 decks without infinite value and the floor of a 4/5 for 4 (the counter ability does NOT say “other creature) with vigilance and protection that replaces itself is pretty awesome.
Damn, was about to start a thread, you beat me to it.
You guys basically said everything I wanted to say. I think the inclusion of persist combo cards like Good-Fortune Unicorn are kind of a gateway to some +1/+1 counters in a number of cubes, and you might just get incidental greatness out of this guy without going full ham. If you're particularly invested in a counters theme, I think it's capable of building some serious staying power.
Overall I think it's pretty cool, and I think might squeeze in among my top 5 fave 4drop *creatures* for white. I think I'll give it a whirl.

Ah...I was thinking about getting infinite 2/2s (overkill but not always redundant in some cases though.) The fact that I often get two +1/+1 effects but no payoff clouded my perspective. But you're right. Infinite sac triggers is the way to go!
Oooo I thought the counter was "another target creature." Now I'm a lot more interested.
White 4's though man. I have Hero, Jailer, Resto, OG elspeth, Gideon, Ally of Zendikar, Fetters, and Parrallax wave (probably the weakest but it is a card I love that is still good enough to see play most times it's picked so I will likely never cut it). What would I cut? I guess I'm still running lark and baneslayer, they could go perhaps....
Definitely worth the inclusion, but I'm sad about what my options for cuts are. I think it's time to cut Gisela, the Broken Blade (it should probably be Leonin Warleader instead, but I got the Secret Lair version and haven't had much opportunity to use it yet).
Hey man, both combo aspects are cool. Kill with sac triggers, or persist combo with a non-lethal sac outlet and make infinite 2/2 knights. It's a cool backup plan!
Cool creature, but I am not in on the combo aspect nature of cube. I play with a wide range of players, and i found having infinate combo's were not well liked with the casual players in my group. I can see this being great in those cubes, and even a decent creature without it, but I think it's just on the outside looking in for my cube at 405 right now.
...or persist combo with a non-lethal sac outlet and make infinite 2/2 knights. It's a cool backup plan!
You do need two Unicorn effects for infinite 2/2s right? In that case, unless your sac outlet is non-lethal, my idea (infinite 2/2s) does seem redundant. I mean, not only do you need a working persist combo set up, which doesn’t win on the spot, an extra Unicorn effect, but also the Lieutenant...doable but definetely not the goal.
Pretty good creature on its own, especially with Persist combos. Having the option of a 4/5 with protection from multicolored / get a 2/2 with vigilance when it dies is a decent Thragtusk impersonation, especially at 4 mana. I don't like this more than white's planeswalkers options, Restoration Angel is more versatile and is a Kiki-Twin hit, and Palace Jailer is Palace Jailer... This creature seems to be a mix of Luminous Broodmoth and Hero of Bladehold since it has decent midrange value, persist combo potential, and isn't a slouch in aggro. Seems like a strong contender if you support +1/+1 counters matters and / or persist combos.

I think Parallax Wave is stronger than Hero / Fetters.
Cool card. For me wit ha small cube not running persist I think this is a little worse than Broodmothra and I haven't found room for that. But I am all for making white more interesting.
It's too low of an impact for a 4 mana creature against any strategy that goes over the top (or in that strategy). Only so so at stabalizing vs agro and is far too slow in agro.
If it wasn't for the combo value, I would have zero interest in it.
