A nice Into the Roil / Vendilion Clique hybrid. Losing the ability to bounce your own stuff is a bummer, but far from a dealbreaker. Might give this a spin if I have space.
Boom. Lock for me. I would play disperse adventure with just about anything in the in the creature mode. Much like the red giant it is a nice interactive spell early that you bank a threat with. I always want more threats in my spells deck and these cards are sweet. It is number 3 in the set for me behind the rider and the giant only because it doesn't block well, but flash make this an unbelievable card in any blue cube deck.
There aren't many blue decks that I'm unhappy with a 3/1 flash flyer for 3 mana.
This means the creature is pretty close to "draw a card" worth of value.
Two mana, one directional disperse that cantrips is an incredible card.
While I think a 3/1 flyer is slightly worse than drawing a card, the option of simply playing the 3/1 and not casting the adventure is worth enough to bridge that gap.
Some chance It'll play out worse than I think, but more likely it'll just be a good card that sticks around for a while.
It's mythic rarity may be a testament to it's similarities to vendillion clique, but it may also be because of it's power level.
The fact that this has flash is mind blowing to me. It is just gross with other bounce spells.
Play pattern
Diperse their thing
Play borrower
Beat down
Play mystic confluence/cryptic command to hose the other player and bounce borrower
Disperse their thing /play borrower
Beat down

I think it was originally a completely different card. It had to be changed at the last minute, but the art/card names were already set. I think that's why both cards are named after stealing and this has nothing to do with taking permanents.

Interesting theory. Makes total sense, but curious if this has happened before? Or did someone at wizards say they’ve done that?
They definitely have had some “non mythic” feeling cards at mythic , IE robber of the rich.
I know there have been last minute design changes before, but I don't think it's been confirmed to have taken place in this case specifically. I heard a few other Magic personalities discussing this theory on Twitter and it makes total sense to me. Powerful card, but should be a rare (not because of powerlevel but because of design standards).
Yeah I would not be remotely surprised if this was some kind of Mind Control on the front end until very late in design, or perhaps a counter that let you cast the spell.
The second (extra) art version works for me. It shows a "little" theft and the Fae "borrows" the keys to unlock something. I will not block your attempt to get the keys back, I promise!
I agree with Wtwlf's theory as the card name isn't a strong match for the abilities. This card is exhibit A for the improper use of mythic rarity. There isn't a single ability on this card that is special. It's just pushed. That's it.
This is a good card, but at 360 powered with storm and kiki-twin supported I'm not sure I can find a cut for this. I don't even run Man-o'-War anymore, which I think is on par with this. I certainly think Vendilion Clique is better due to mana efficiency, as is Venser, Shaper Savant given its much broader range of uses. Both of those are bubble cards at 360 powered at this point in blue, rather than being staples anymore. Blue is just so deep that you could easily run twice as many blue cards as other colors and the power level of the marginal/worst card would probably be about the same.
This card is making waves all the way from standard to legacy, but I have yet to try it. How good has it been for those who cube with it? is it only playable in aggressive decks, or can you play it in control too for its ability to answer walkers so well?

Disperse that curves right into a tempo threat in one card? Yes please.

Draft my cube! (630 cards)
I look forward to piloting white blue control decks in my cube where the only win con's are this, Hypnotic Sprite, and Realm-Cloaked Giant
So I count 4 adventure creatures where the adventure part is an instant removal spell and the creature side is not awful.
Murderous Rider > Bonecrusher Giant > Brazen Borrower > Giant Killer, but I will play all four of them at 540 with multiplayer focus.
