Fight with Fire 2R
Sorcery
Kicker 5R (You may pay an additional 5R as you cast this spell.)
Fight with Fire deals 5 damage to target creature. If this spell was kicked, it deals 10 damage divided as you choose among any number of targets instead. (Those targets can include players and planeswalkers.)
I think this might be a contender for sleeper of the set. Oddly enough, we’ve never had a 3 CMC spell that deals 5 damage to a creature before without a condition or drawback, the closest being Devour in Flames, which means this is about the closest thing to a red Murder we’ve got. Realistically though, you probably don’t want this unless you have the outside possibility of kicking it, which produces an obscenely powerful effect that easily outclasses Comet Storm in the same CMC range.
I think I’d be very happy to play this in most of my red decks that aren’t slanted too aggressively, and even there it’s a useful sideboard answer to stuff like Baneslayer.
This is very Cyclonic Rift-ish. I like Cyclonic Rift much more and I'm not even playing that. I'd probably rather play Bonfire of the Damned over this too if I felt like rolling the dice.

My fear is that the unkicked is just too ineffecient in even a ramp deck. and 9 mana is a LOT.
There also aren't that many 5 toughness creatures in cube.
6 is the magic number that hits the titan type creatures.

I would absolutely take Mizzium Mortars before this new card and I don't run mortars just like you said.
This is still the best place for high-power-level cube chat & debate.
