Scalability of Shark Typhoon with the trickiness of Faerie Mastermind. Compared to Shark Typhoon this has better stats and can provide more value over time with the tutor trigger. This has a worst mana cost and can only draw a card on ETB if you're spending at least 2UU, but this can be a Faerie Mastermind on turn 2 for UU. The combination of flash / flying / vigilance is great, especially if you support monarch / initiative. Probably one of the more versatile mana sinks that scales very well in the late game while being very reasonable for 2 mana.
This actually looks pretty good? Flash allows you to keep counterspell mana up and you can drop it early to draw a card in response to a fetch. Poor Hydroid Krasis...
I think this is better than Hydroid Krasis, which I have been happy with for years. This starts off as a 1/1 instead of a 0/0, and trades trample and lifegain for flash, vigilance, and the chance for a “gotcha” if your opponent ever cracks a fetch or tutors.
Like Krasis, the most likely mana values for Wan Shi Tong will be 4 and 6, as it’s pretty miserable to have to cast it as a 2/2 that does not draw a card. Unlike Krasis, sometimes you’ll want to flash this in based on your opponent’s behavior for a different kind of value, for instance if they crack a fetch or attack with a low power creature that you want to block.
A cross between Shark Typhoon and Archivist of Oghma is definitely not a card I expected, but man is it a potent combination. Between initiative and the landscape cycle, there is a lot of searching going on in the cube nowadays. However, a lot of it is also happening on the opponent's [your] turn, which can be risky to punish since it'll leave you shields down. Though on the play, you can catch an opponent cracking a fetch at the end of your second turn and come out pretty far ahead. But even when players start wising up to the threat of Wan Shi Tong, the fact that he scales means you don't mind having him stuck in hand. He may not be the most punishing anti-search effect, but I think overall he will feel much better to play and play against (looking at you Opposition Agent) than the others.
Blue is super tight at 360 powered but this does look great.
I think it's better than Shark Typhoon but that's not a card I'm running anymore.
Will still try to find a cut - my most borderline cards are probably Smirking Spelljacker, Kitsa, Otterball Elite, [card]Thieving Skydiver[/card[card]. Seems close.
IMO Smirking Spelljacker is a pretty easy swap for this.

That's probably going to be my switch, but I'm also thinking that Dig Through Time is showing some age.
