A new Restoration Angel variant that kind of blinks / bounces. Unlike Restoration Angel, this can hit any nonland permanent type and any number of them, kind of like Yorion, Sky-Nomad. It's not a true blink effect since you still have to cast them, but sometimes that can be beneficial with something like The One Ring. This having flash and being able to target any nonland permanent type means you can pull off the Parallax Wave trick. This goes really well with prototype / overlord creatures too like Phyrexian Fleshgorger / Overlord of the Mistmoors.
Supposedly this can also "cheat" some (T)MDFCs like Valki, God of Lies and all the Spiderman cards. That actually really opens up Appa's ceiling and introduces a lot of strong interactions.

I don't see why this wouldn't work - this definitely increases Appa's ceiling. Unsurprisingly, this is 100% making it into my Universes Beyond cube, but I do think that this is strong enough to at least warrant a look for regular cubes for reasons like this, resetting The One Ring, and supporting second spells/additional Mentor/prowess triggers off exiled artifacts/enchantments.
Assuming you have the mana to do this, Appa does also let you get two activations out of a planeswalker on the same turn (or just resetting/protecting one in a pinch), which could potentially be useful for specific boardstates.
I can see this being played over Restoration Angel. Appa has a lower floor, but the ability to hit multiple nonland permanents and generate additional value off of them gives him a way higher ceiling. The fact that you have to recast the cards is a blessing in disguise. Not only can you abuse cast triggers and MDFC's, it also gives you the flexibility of holding up your exiled cards until you need to recast them. Solitude + Restoration Angel may be a backbreaking tempo play, but what can be even better is having a 2 cost Solitude that you can recast at a time of your choosing. The sky's the limit for the flying bison, and I look forward to seeing him in action.
