Target opponent reveals their hand. You choose an artifact or creature card from it. Exile that card.

Another strictly better Divest, this time with cycling! Dreams of Steel and Oil has been fairly popular, and this seems about just as good. Both of them exile, the only difference is cycling vs graveyard hate. This doesn't unseat Thoughtseize / Duress / Inquisition of Kozilek for me, but it's a good tier 2 discard spell that's pretty interchangeable with Dreams of Steel and Oil / Dread Fugue.
This one also piqued my interest. I really like the idea of cycling on discard spells. It's definitely a feel bad when you top deck one late game in a grindy situation.
I love a Divest with cycling, but I dislike the exile clause. It makes my 'goyfs weaker and reduces the flexibility of my reanimation spells; I wish the exile was a may. This is still a solid option though, that I would rank just behind the staple 1cc disruption spells.

Interesting. I would have thought the exile was a plus with all the graveyard synergies.
In some cases it is. But I prefer upsides that situationally have interactions with my own cards to upsides that situationally punish the opponent, even if the latter is more likely.
Divest can also target the caster so they can bin their own reanimation creature or welder target. This new card can't do that either.
I think the exile is a big upside. As a reanimator deck you generally want to reanimate your own fatties, so the exile is not a major drawback (though you'd still often rather have them discard than exile the card). However when against a reanimator deck is is extremely critical that the card is exiled not discarded, especially as this discard spell cannot remove the reanimation spell from your opponent's hand.
Anyways, I like this more than Steel and Oil. I think it's my new favourite 1-cmc discard spell outside the heavy hitters of Thoughtseize, Inquisition and Duress.
I've had a few reps with Dreams of Steel and Oil on the MTGA Arena cube and I feel that targeted discard that can hit creatures / artifacts have significantly improved over the past 5 years, especially with the number of creatures with strong ETB effects.
This also provides an answer to The One Ring, a card I absolutely despise.
I'm considering adding both this AND Dreams of Steel and Oil into my cube to help improve midrange/ attrition decks.
