I think this is better than it reads at first glance. The 3 equip cost is steep, but it'll grant +3 or +4 power on average, and will more likely than not be drawing an extra card every turn. Even with a below-average roll, it won't be hard for a creature to have the highest (or tied for the highest) power when it attacks. I could see this adding a fair amount of extra pressure, and drawing multiple cards over the average game. Plus, it's an extra Stoneforge Mystic target and an extra Urza's Saga target. Might be worth a spin.
Being fetchable with Urza's Saga is cool, but there can be a lot of risk in declaring an attack with a creature with unknown power. Equip 3 is a bit of a bust for me, personally I'd rather have a Sword of X and Y or Heirloom Blade.
3 is just too steep for me here. It’s definitely solid if you can keep it equipped to the same guy for a few turns, but there’s no toughness boost — high rolling your 2/2 into a 7/2, drawing a card, and then having it trade with a 2/2 and needing to pay 3 again seems rough.

I primarily play limited, so most of my spoiler season comments view cards through that lens.
Yeah 3 is prob too steep. But a big power boost and drawing a card on attack is a powerful ability.
cheap artifacts always play better than they look.
I have shadowspear in right now as stoneforge/saga density , but I might throw this in for a test over that.

I've been liking Shadowspear a lot as an Urza's Saga target. Giving Karnstructs +1/+1 trample and lifelink is no joke.
I second that 3 is way too steppe to equip. In fact, I've found wasting 2 mana to equip a sword to a creature to have either the creature/ sword removed in response has been a bit of a blowout.
I've an Legacy Affinity player and I can strong confirm that Shadowspear is by far the Urza's Saga target - the lifelink + trample has been incredible.
The problem I have with this card is the random nature of the attack. If you're playing against a combo/ control deck, then sure it makes sense. But if you're playing an aggressive deck where the opponent has a 4/5 blocker, Do you equip this to your 3/3 and attack into the 4/5?
