I think it's quite a lot better at second glance. 3 damage should kill most regular creatures, and little sweepers like this are particularly welcome against tokens. Not a high priority card for me but I wouldn't be confused by somebody adding it to their list.
Well that's one way to blast a token army. Honestly, I've been wanting a way to include "deal 1 to everything" in the cube because it's such a conditionally powerful ability. This is a perfect way to do that. Missing your creatures also makes this very effective with pingers (including my favorite, Fire Ants).
So rare we get burn that hits "any target" these days so thats what first caught my eye. Tokens have been running a bit rampant in my list at least. Deep forest hermit and hornet queen better watch out now!
While the most obvious comparison for Seismic Wave is Arc Lightning / Flames of the Firebrand, I've realized that this has a lot of similarities with Fire Covenant as an instant speed one-sided sweeper. Fire Covenant has its advantage that it can take down larger creatures and can sweep artifact creatures, but Seismic Wave is mono colored, isn't limited to just hitting creatures, and doesn't require you to pay life.
This card has been fantastic and it into my recent 360 condensing of the Cube. It is way better than Arc Lightning and is always a 2 for 1 at minimum.
I opted not to test it because I missed the non-artifact clause and thought that was a biggish deal (not hitting thopters/constructs/revoker etc.)
But i'll prob try it after reading this.
Visserdrix brought up Seismic Wave above and it looks really good as tier 2 burn spells in cube environment. Thoughts?
