Flexible and upticks to defend itself. The ult is like a weaker The Immortal Sun. Not sure if this cracks Simic sections except in large cubes, but it's incredibly versatile.
Even without the oko comparison, I don't like this. It's pretty meh at 4 and 5, requires stuff in the yard you want to copy to get value from the -, and the fact that her ultimate dies to bounce and flicker is pretty bad. Easy pass for me.
On the flip side, I'm excited to swap Nissa, Steward of Elements out for this. I play pretty deep guild sections (Signets, Talismans, and 7 other nonland cards), so this seems like a fun addition. It doesn't have Nissa's fireball mode when topdecked late-game, but I like this suite of abilities more overall, and I'm happy to update my non-Oko planeswalker for the guild.
Simic Nissa definitely plays better than she looks - but she isn't so far above this card that the swap for the new card is indefensible. They're playing in slightly different spaces.
This card has been better than expected when I play against it in the Magic Online Cube.
Really hard to compare the two. To me, Edric is like Opposition where they're both big payoff cards for things that you're already playing, so you don't have to go out of your way at all to support them. On the other hand, I don't think Tamiyo is good at being a generic value card, roleplayer, or payoff. OG Tamiyo, the Moon Sage was strong 5-10 years ago because cubes generally moved at a much slower pace, the premier threats were much more monolithic (Wurmcoil Engine / Titans / etc), and direct planeswalker removal was rare. Unless your cube is at the pace / power level of the arena cube, I think this Tamiyo is a huge miss.

I don't find Edric in too many lists, but I've noticed wtwlf plays it and he's one of the few cube curators that support green aggro. I personally have Nissa, Steward of Elements in this 3 CMC slot as I've really like creatures that can play the ramp + threat role.

You have to measure up to Oko, Uro, and Krasis now....I'm not going to see a Simic update for sometime I predict.
